Days of the Dead is always a great place to meet wrestlers. This year, “Big Sexy” Kevin Nash, Mean Gene Okerlund, Trish Stratus and Amy Dumas were the guest celebrities.
Nash was only there for a short time on Saturday, but he was as cool as could be given the time constraints and fan demand. He greeted me by saying he figured I would be here. We talked for a few minutes and then I let him get back to business.
Mean Gene was there with Jayson Maples and Heroes and Legends Wrestling. Gene always has some fun jab at me. The man still is as quick-witted as ever. We talked a bit about his son Todd, former Olympian and New York Islander. Despite the picture below, Mean Gene does like me (I think).
Team Bestie was renamed Team Johngy (at least for a few moments). Trish and Amy were fantastic together and separately, especially with young fans. I saw both go above and beyond with pictures and autographs. Both ladies remembered me from previous appearances and we talked a bit about the women’s movement in the WWE, including Ronda Rousey, as well as their recent appearances.
Aside from Clive Barker, I’d say these four wrestlers drew the largest lines. They all rewarded their fans with fun experiences, too.
