I attended the Wrestling Showcase event on Saturday. There was a live stream raising money for Chicago Bears legend and WCW wrestler Steve McMichael, a meet and greet and a full wrestling card.
Money For Mongo was hosted by Conrad Thompson and featured Ric Flair, Jeff Jarrett, Eric Bischoff and Mick Foley raising money for McMichael who is battling ALS. We were hoping those legends would be part of the meet and greet, too, but unfortunately, they were not. Still, it was a great event for a worthy cause.
Next was the meet and greet with John Morrison (Johnny Showcase), Chelsea Green, Taya Valkyrie, Brian Myers, Matt Cardona, Tatanka and Deonna Purrazzo. Moose was also there, but I missed him due to my bad timing. All were very cool and offered pictures and autographs at a very reasonable price.
Last was the wrestling show. It had an eight-man tourney for the Wrestling Showcase title, a singles match with Ohio Valley Wrestling’s Kal Herro battling Luke Kurtis and a women’s match between Taya Valkyrie, Deonna Purrazzo and Chelsea Green.
Karen Jarrett was the “General Manager” for the night. The wrestling was excellent, although there were a couple bad finishes and questionable calls. Still, overall, it was a fantastic day.
