ROUGH ROUND FOR THE HOGANS
HAS the longest, strongest marriage in professional wrestling history suffered a fatal, bone-crunching blow? Sources close to Hulk and Linda Hogan, who've been wedded for more than 20 years, say they're "going through a very hard time and their marriage is under a lot of strain." The problems started several years ago when the Hogan family - including the couple's kids, aspiring pop singer Brooke and amateur race-car driver Nick - started filming the VH1 show "Hogan Knows Best." One friend said, "They have different beliefs on how to raise kids. Brooke started her music career, and they started getting into fights." Some of the well-documented battles on the show have been over how scantily clad Brooke - just 18 when she did her first major magazine - should be, or how late she could stay out with boyfriends. During the show, the Hogans moved from their longtime residence in Tampa to a Miami mansion, and also bought houses in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. While either Linda or Hulk traveled with Brooke or Nick to their various events, they rarely traveled together. Another source of tension was Hulk, 53, desperately wanting to get back into wrestling, while Linda wanted to body-block the idea, fearing he could get hurt. At one point, the friend said, "Linda got so fed up she quit the VH1 show. She just walked off. No one knows what started that fight but it was serious." Linda is now back on set to film the fourth season. Another insider said, "At one point they were talking divorce. It's still precarious." A rep for the Hogans declined comment. But Hulk's wrestling manager, Jimmy Hart, told us, "There's ups and downs in every marriage. I was with them last weekend in Miami shooting the show and everything seemed fine. "Dionne Warwick was there to do a song with Brooke, and Linda seemed fine. Ever since they went to marriage counseling on that VH1 show, people have said there were problems, but it's fine."
Thanks to Mike Informer for sending us the above.

Fiery Flight
By Zack Zeigler
Written: April 17, 2007

One night after figuratively setting Milan's Datch Forum ablaze with excitement at a live edition of Monday Night Raw, the Superstars and Divas of Raw were subject to the alarm of an engine fire aboard their charter plane.

Instead of soaring through the clouds en route to Rome from Milan for another live event, the frightening mechanical issue forced a mass inconvenience and a frantic scramble to find new flights in order to make it to the show in Rome on time.

Amid all the hassles this episode caused, WWE Producer Tim White's first-hand account of the hair-raising experience was from a grateful perspective, rather than an angry one.

"Everyone is okay," he said in a phone interview from the runway after boarding a new flight. "Thankfully, the engine blew on the ground and not over the Atlantic."

Allegedly the plane was taxing on the runway and the engine was revved too high, causing the engine fumes to heat up to more than 900 degrees — roughly two-and-a-half times the normal temperature the engine should operate at. At that point, a rod may have snapped, causing the engine to blow.

"I was sitting near the front [of the plane] and didn't hear anything," said White. "But the mechanic said those sitting near the engine would have heard a pop."

The nerve-racking experience turned out to be a huge scare, but in the end only cost time instead of injuries. Even with everything that occurred, the WWE Superstars were all able to find new flights, as to not disappoint their international fans.

"Living Legend" Bruno Sammartino Part Of NWS Double-Shot Weekend In North Plainfield And Brick May 4-5

You've been hearing about it for months, and now the weekend of May 4-5 is only a few weeks away, as National Wrestling Superstars will put on a double-shot weekend with enough star power to rival a Hollywood awards show.

Friday night May 4, NWS makes its much-anticipated return to North Plainfield, NJ at the Italian-American Social Club (403 Somerset Street, just off Route 22), with a 7:45pm bell time. In a grudge match signed at their last North Plainfield show, The Baghdad Bullies and their manager King Ran-sid Akhbar Idu Stinq will challenge former WWE star "America's Hero" The Patriot and his surprise mystery partner. If The Bullies lose, they must recite The Pledge Of Allegiance... if The Patriot's team loses, he must unmask and reveal his mystery identity. But there was no mystery about The Patriot wanting a manager in his corner to keep an eye on King Stinq, so he went out and found himself the best... WWE Hall-Of-Fame manager Captain Lou Albano.

Just recently added to the lineup in North Plainfield will be TNA Wrestling's Miss Tracy Brooks, along with Japan's Giant Kaibootsie, NWS Junior Heavyweight Champion "G.Q." Gavin Quest, and other NWS stars.

Tickets are $18 for adults and $16 for kids and seniors, and can be purchased by phone at (732) 888-1704.

Saturday night May 5, NWS returns to its new Ocean County hot spot, the Brick, NJ Elks Lodge (2491 Hooper Avenue, near Route 70 & the Brick Plaza) with a 7:35pm bell time. For those fans in the Brick area... if you think you've seen big crowds at Brick before, just wait until you see the crowd on May 5th. For that night, the fans will have the privilege of meeting, greeting, and seeing in action as a guest official pro wrestling's true "Living Legend", the one and only Bruno Sammartino.

But that's not all. Also coming to Brick to win over the fans (well, the lady fans at least) are former WWE tag-team champions The Heart-Throbs, John "Romeo" Roselli & "The Promise" Antonio Thomas. And speaking of winning ladies, the NWS ring will be graced with the presence of TNA Wrestling leading lady Miss Tracy Brooks. Plus former ECW tag-team champion "Dastardly" Danny Doring will be in action, along with former WWE stars The Patriot and Salvatore Sincere, and other NWS standouts.

Tickets for this mega-event, which are selling out as fast as you can read this, are only $18 for adults and $16 for kids and seniors, and can be purchased by phone at (732) 888-1704. This is one event you want to order your tickets in advance for, as you can guarantee it will be a sellout.  Tickets for both shows can also be purchased online at www.doubleplaytixx.com.
