Allentown, PA – December 24, 2005 – For the seventh year in a row, former WWE Champions Afa “The Wild Samoan” Anoa’i and Samu “The Great Samu” Anoa’i, have spent their Christmas Eve volunteering with the Spirit of the Lehigh Valley holiday party at the Sheraton Jetport, to brighten the spirits of those less fortunate in the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania. Each year, thousands of children and adults are given the opportunity to have their pictures taken with the two grapplers and receive personalized autographed pictures, followed by a visit with Santa Claus, who gives them special presents donated by the community.
After seven years of donating their services to the Spirit of the Lehigh Valley organization, it has become a cherished holiday tradition for the father and son wrestling duo to do their part in bringing smiles to the faces of children who made not have much to smile about. Additionally, six years ago Afa Anoa’i and his wife Lynn, also founded a non-profit organization of their own, the USO Foundation.
The Foundation was created to provide at-risk kids with a safe and secure after-school program that emphasizes the importance of education and living a productive life with moral direction, through the popularity and drawing power of professional wrestling. One of the Foundation’s greatest success stories is a man named Herberto Irrizary Jr, who has gone on to become a popular wrestler nicknamed, “Puerto Rican Hurricane Havoc“. To show his gratitude to the Anoa’i family and the USO Foundation, he volunteered his time at this year’s holiday party, signing autographs and taking pictures with the children.
The Anoa’i family has traveled the globe, performing in front of millions of adoring fans, before retiring to their adopted home of Whitehall, PA. The elder Anoa’I also runs The Wild Samoan Training Center, a school for aspiring wrestlers and World X-treme Wrestling, a wrestling federation known world-wide for the professionalism and talent of its stars.
Allentown, PA – January 1, 2006 – The front office of WXW has recently been contacted by World Wresting Entertainment, concerning two Wild Samoan Training Center graduates and current WXW stars. After negotiations with WXW management, the WWE has agreed to schedule tryouts for WXW standouts "Smooth" Tommy Suede and Supreme Lee Great, this Tuesday, at the Smackdown television taping in Wilkes Barre, PA.
Joining the two young stars in their meeting with the WWE, will be the head-trainer of the Wild Samoan Training Center and CEO of WXW, legendary WWF/WWE Tag Team Champion Afa "The Wild Samoan." Affectionately known to his students as "Pops", Afa has spent the last 25 years training others and helping them to achieve the same level of success that he has. No doubt, Vince McMahon and his family will be glad to see "Pops" again.
Should Suede and SLG prove successful in their bids to gain WWE contracts, they will be following in the footsteps of past Wild Samoan Training Center graduates Batista, Snitsky, Yokozuna, The Rock, Rikishi, Bam Bam Bigelow, Billy Kidman, Chris Kanyon, The Great Samu, Rosie, Jamal, Sherri Martel, Virgil, Paul Heyman and so many others.
Said Afa, "I will be there to lend them support. On behalf of WXW and the Wild Samoan Training Center, I wish 'Smooth' Tommy Suede and SLG nothing but the best!"
