I would like to start off by thanking Wrestlingfigs.com and Northeast Wrestling for the tickets to last night WrestleFest.  It was a great show.

Northeast Wrestling presented WrestleFest 14 at the Mid Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, NY, last night (Saturday, March 20).  It looked to be nearly sold out.  Nice new lighting set up.  It gave it an old school feel, with the arena dark but lights around the ring.  I think the lighting would look good at other places.

Doors open at 5:30 for a meet and greet.  Appearing at the meet and greet were Paul London, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Mr. Anderson, Angelina Love, Booker T, and Velvet Sky.   The line was long, but moved along well.  The show started closer to 8pm, just to give time for the fans to meet the wrestlers.

Match one:

Northeast Wrestling Champion in a 5 man 4 corners match.

Champion Paul London vs. Brian Anthony vs. Matt Taven vs. Mike Bennett vs. Jason Blade

Great match, real fast pace.  Many high spots off the top ropes.  Blade was taken out early by Paul London.  Then London hit a 450 on Brian Anthony.  Matt Taven was in the “Million Dollar Dream” by London by kick off the top rope and pinned London (Bret Hart – Steve Austin S.S. finish).  Taven then super-kicked Bennett, followed by a frog-splash to get the win.

Winner and new Northeast Wrestling Champion Matt Taven.

Match two:

Jalil Salaam beat a guy from North Carolina.  It was good match finish was a Perfect-plex.

Match Three:

Angelina Love was set to face Velvet Sky.  Angelina was in the ring, when Velvet came out and said it would be a 2 on 1 handicap match.  Velvet Sky’s partner was the Hardcore Knockout Roxxi.

Angelina Love vs. Velvet Sky and Roxxi

Roxxi did most of the match for her team.  Velvet Sky played the cowardly partner only tag in when Roxxi had the upper hand.  Roxxi hit the “Barbie Buster”.  Love kicked out.  Roxxi took the ref into the corner so Velvet could hit Love with the Knockout Tag belt.  Velvet then tagged herself.  She went for a lack-luster pin but Angelina rolled up Velvet.

Winner is Angelina Love

Promo:

Legendary ref Dick Knoll was in the building.  He came to the ring and talked about how in the early 1980’s the Mid Hudson Center was the home of wrestling.  He was honored to be part of the greatest Indy Company in the area Northeast Wrestling and work with the O’Brian’s.

Match Four:

 Hardcore Match

Jerry Lawler vs. Tommy Dreamer

Lawler got on the microphone saying how Vince McMahon told him to take out Dreamer just like how Vince took out ECW. Then talked about the WWF vs. ECW angle from 1997 and how many of the fans chanting “ECW” was not alive doing the angle.

It was a real good match, hard hitting.  Dreamer was bleeding early.  Lawler was on the attack early, using sticks, chairs and the rail.  When the match returned to the ring Lawler hit a drop kick and then the Stone Cold Stunner.  Lawler then hit the pile driver.  Tommy Dreamer got right up after the pile driver.  Dreamer then hit his own Stunner.  Then he took over till the DDT for the pin.

Winner: Tommy Dreamer

Piper’s Pit

Piper comes out and talks about his history in the Mid Hudson Civic Center.  He said the Pit started on the end stage.  Then how the souls of the fallen wrestler (Mr. Perfect, Andre, Davey Boy, Bossman, and others) are with him in the home that made WrestleMania happen.

Jalil comes out and said that he is tired of hearing about the past wrestlers and how it is now time for Jalil to be a star.  Jalil attacks Piper.  They throw punches and kicks until Piper puts Jalil in the sleeper.

Match Five:

The Now vs. Romeo and Rob Eckos

Romeo and Eckos rap about the NOW.  Very funny.  The NOW comes out with local rap group, the Cans.  The NOW are hometown boys and way over.  The match had a lot of crowd support.  Hale hit Eckos with a top rope to the floor, throw a table elbow.  Vik hit a corkscrew splash from the top rope on to Romeo for the pin.

Winner: The NOW

Match Six:

Mr. Anderson vs. Booker T

Anderson came out and did the announcing deal.  It is very entertaining.   Booker T came out to a big pop.  Anderson was the heel and got the heat early.  Booker T hit the Book End, then the Spin with the kick for the win.

Winner: Booker T

After the show Tommy Dreamer signed autographs and took photos at the Highspots table for free.  He thanked the fans for coming and to continuing supporting Northeast Wrestling.

It was a great show and look forward to the May 1st CT event with Booker T and Dusty Rhodes.  www.Northeastwrestling.com for more info.

 Thanks
