With La Parka & more…

I attended the N.Y. Horror Show specifically to see La Parka. I give credit to the promoter for bringing in La Parka. He had a

week of confusion if La Parka was actually going to show up. La Parka was booked by the AAA office a few days earlier to be at a AAA show on Saturday, despite agreeing to the convention a few months earlier. I was even skeptical based on a fake La Parka working NY/NJ independent shows a few years ago and even the comic book convention circuit until he was served with a cease & desist letter from a representative of L.A. Park [The Original La Parka].

The La Parka that attended the convention is the current incarnation who haves been using the gimmick from 1997 to the present. I even had a friend contact La Parka by twitter to verify if he was attending in which he confirmed. The fan report that reported that La Parka was not the original is correct. But a clarification is the Original La Parka had not used the La Parka name or gimmick since losing it in court in 2003. He uses the name of L.A. Park and his costume is different by incorporating a mask that resembles Dorth Maul & a skeleton. Plus L.A. Park will not sign anything depicting himself as La Parka or anything that is related to AAA.

 

The autographed pictures that La Parka was selling are recent. Especially one of the pictures that shows him against Perro Aguayo Jr in a tag team match.

La Parka did arrive to the convention after 3PM. His line was not long, but nobody in wrestling was doing any business. He was friendly and accommodating to myself, especially considering my Spanish is not the greatest.

La Parka was selling actual ring worn masks in which I bought one,since the likelihood in ever meeting him in N.Y. would probably be slim. La Parka took many extra pictures and signed extra items for myself and others if we purchased a mask. 

The promoters were pretty accommodating and asked me several times after meeting La Parka if everything was to my liking.  

I had a blast. I thought wrestling fans could be fanatical, but horror fans take it to a whole other level.
