……

Mr. Babinsack,

To say you have said it all and then some would be the understatement of all time.

Integrity is the key word of your remarks about Bruno Sammartino.  I had the pleasure of meeting him a number of times.  In 1987 I received a phone call from him. I had sent him a letter outlining  my attempts to document his 565 lb. bench presses.

Long story short is and thanks to Georgiann Makropoulos for his address, he was very impressed with the  magnitude of my attempts to document the lifts that he took the time to call me and we spoke for about 35 minutes.

The last time I spoke to Bruno was at the August 2005 Wrestle Reunion at Valley Forge, PA. weekend starting off with a dinner to honor Bruno that Friday evening.

As a young child, our family lived with my grandparents till I was 8 years old.  I remember   vividly my grandfather talking about Bruno Sammartino all the time when I was very young,  and as I got a little older, I developed tremendous interest myself especially in his weightlifting career when I would see him all the time in Iron Man magazine.

Bruno told me that all his weightlifting achievements were geared toward making him a better wrestler.  I was always amazed that he became a household word in the  60's without all the hype Hogan received.

In closing, I would like to thank you for the tremendous and very powerful words you have written about the Great Living Legend Bruno Sammartino

Sincerely,     Dr. Bill DiMino

Notes from Georgie

Bruno with Franco Columbo on his shoulders on 11/2/76 at the Felt Forum in Madison Square Garden the Mr. Olympia Contest  Bruno was one of the Judges.

He also did a pose down.

Take a good look at Bruno’s physique.  He never took steroids, he was all natural, he just worked out all the time.
