Former WWE Superstar and well traveled and respected ring veteran Alex Pourteau has opened his own wrestling training school and promotion in Winter Park, Florida. It is called Pro Wrestling 2.0!Pourteau is the promotion's head trainer. He is a battle tested ring veteran who has succeeded in multiple territories and promotions. He received his big break from Skandor Akbar in World Class Championship Wrestling and went on to Puerto Rico, Memphis as one of the "Dirty White Boys", the Global Wrestling Federation where he was a long-standing roster member and held the Light Heavyweight Title numerous times, and also traveled the world including multiple successful tours of Japan. In 1996, Pourteau joined the World Wrestling Federation (WWE) as Alex "The Pug" Pourteau wrestling many of the top names in wrestling history. He'd later have a stint in World Championship Wrestling. Since the 90's, Pourteau has worked various promotions nationally but mainly in the Florida region such as Full Impact Pro and assisted in training at the I Believe in Wrestling Dojo.
But, Pro Wrestling 2.0 is far from a one man show. Joining Pourteau are many greats he has worked with through the years that should be familiar names to those who know professional wrestling inside and out.
Agents assigned to scouting talent include Texas Wrestling Academy's Rudy "Boy" Gonzales, Texas Wrestling Hall of Fame Referee James Beard, fellow former GWF referee John Keaton, former Michael Hayes protege Steve "Do It 2 It" Cox, and the incomparable Chris Romero from the legendary Youngblood family.
Other announced agents involved in the project are female sensation and former TNA Knockout "Brittany" Santana Garrett, Puerto Rico legend "Rico Suave" Julio Estrada, and a Puerto Rico wrestling hero and former TNA Referee "Glamour Boy" Shane Sewell.
Pourteau told the Wrestling Epicenter, "We are looking to build NXT ready talent!" He went on to note that his facility is only a few blocks fromFull Sail University (WWE NXT) which will afford talent an opportunity to improve their skills and be ready for the WWE. Pourteau also noted that while he is the head trainer, guest trainers and seminars will take place regularly from many wrestling legends and colleagues he's worked with through the years.
Pro Wrestling 2.0 gives prospects the opportunity to train under a head trainer who has traveled the globe and worked for the largest companies against some of the most note-worthy opponents. Alex Pourteau has wrestled the likes of WWE Hall of Famers including the late Kerry Von Erich, Michael Hayes, Carlos Colon, Booker T, and Sting as well as with wrestling legends who are Hall of Fame bound including Triple H, The Great Muta, JBL, Vader, Dean Malenko, Fit Finlay, and the late Owen Hart. PW2.0 booker and scout James Beard described Pourteau's credentials as "uniquely qualified" citing that he has wrestled for so long and is physically able to teach the tricks of the trade to the next generation of talent.
