……

Georgiann,

I was a vendor at the South Jersey wrestling convention this past weekend in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. I arrived at the venue (the Holiday Inn) and realized that there were very few fans lined up with 30 minutes before the convention started, this was not a good sign.  I however, began to set up my collectibles, never once did the promoter come over to ask who I was, in fact the promoter was never in the room and very tough to find.
The show had no advertising at all, except your site, his web page and the numerous bulletins and blogs. I put on myspace page. I also handed out almost 100 flyers at various other shows that I received from Wrestling Marx, not even from the promoter.
Getting to the guests, to say this show was a mess is an understatement. I guess this is his first show, I think the Long Island event was better run. People who paid for a super ticket really didn't seem to get any kind of extra special care like when you go to Wrestle Reunion or Legends of the Ring. The talent was walking around taking pictures with other talent, just to pass the time. Overall it was great to see some of the women of wrestling, the indy talent and some of the legends.

Getting to the point of the day. I was trying to take pictures to be posted on
wrestlingfigs. com (the second largest website only to wwe. com for wrestling) and was promptly stopped by one Jake "the Snake" Roberts. You'd think he was a huge celebrity the way he went on about the 3 pictures I took of him, Yes I said three.
He posed all day with people before the problem and even after. He told the so-called promoter I had shot ROLLS of him and I quote "he has been snapping one right after the other"
First of all , I explained who they were for, he said " I don't care" it was only the first time I've had a problem with anyone and keep in mind I shoot celebrity photos all the time.  I had heard Jake preach at a church awhile back, how his life had changed.
But I can see he's still bitter. Maybe he should check eBay for all the people that got him to sign action figures and see how much they are making on them. I even found the promoter and spoke to him on this, he said it was his problem "I have to keep Jake happy" yet after the show Jake had no where to sleep and he didn't even seem to care. I only wanted to share photos of Jake with people who read your site and couldn't make the show, however I guess Jake can promote himself well enough without someone who has been in the business for 18+ years now.
In closing this is not a personal vendetta I have with Jake, I think it was just a bad day for him.  Most of the other guests were very pleasant and the vendors made the best of a bad show. Even Sandman showed up, to a round of claps, I must add. thank you Sandman!
