Buffalo, NY – The largest independent wrestling show of the year will take place this Sunday, August 27^th at Dunn Tire Park in beautiful downtown Buffalo, New York as Alfred State College presents Ballpark Brawl VII “Survival of the Fittest” brought to you by Taco Bell and Miller Lite. Over 12 matches are scheduled that will utilize the top wrestling talent in the United States, Canada, Japan and Mexico.

Legendary wrestler Sergeant Slaughter will make a rare event appearance at Ballpark Brawl VII. The former WWF Heavyweight Champion will be signing autographs from approximately 2pm to 4pm. Sunday, August 27th also just happens to be Sarge’s birthday! A special birthday celebration will take place during the show. You never know just who might show up to congratulate Sgt. Slaughter on his special day!

The NATURAL Heavyweight title and the Ring of Honor (ROH) World title will be defended on the show as well. Four of the top talents in the industry will be competing in a one day tournament. “The Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe will face “The King of Old School” Steve Corino in the first bracket. In the other bracket, two previous NATURAL title holders will square off for the first time ever as “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels will face the always controversial Teddy Hart. The winners of each match will compete in the main event for the title. That main event will be joined by the current ROH World Champion. Whether that is current champ Bryan Danielson, Nigel McGuiness or Colt Cabana (Danielson is scheduled to face McGuiness 8/25 in St. Paul and the winner to face Cabana 8/26 in Chicago).

We are just a few days away from the largest independent wrestling showcase in the nation. “We have the current stars of the industry along side the future stars of wrestling. This year we will even get to celebrate Sergeant Slaughter’s birthday! No kidding, it really is his birthday and he will be there live to celebrate. In addition, we will have stars from various federations competing against one another, in some cases, for the first time and in other cases for the last time. Now with the inclusion of ROH, this will be the largest show we have ever produced.” said Ballpark Brawl spokesperson Christopher Hill.

Main Show

Wrestling Legend Sergeant Slaughter will be on hand to sign autographs and celebrate his birthday with the fans of Western New York and Canada! While he is not scheduled to wrestle he has said that if anyone disparages our country he will be right there to defend it!

Main Event - Finals of the one day tournament for the NATURAL Heavyweight Title and the Ring of Honor World Title

Samoa Joe vs. Steve Corino
The hottest talent in wrestling today faces the King of Old School for the first time ever on the East Coast. Can Corino’s mind games outpace the Samoan Submission Machine?

Christopher Daniels vs. Teddy Hart
For the first time ever Christopher Daniels, the preeminent wrestler in the wrestling, faces Teddy Hart, the most controversial man in wrestling. Hart was the first ever NATURAL title holder losing his belt to AJ Styles in a brutal three way dance with Hart, Styles & Sabu at BPB III. Can the man voted most likely to blow up overcome his demons and defeat “The Fallen Angel,” one of the most decorated men in the industry?

The winner of each match will compete for the NATURAL Heavyweight title AS WELL AS the ROH World title for the first time ever! Bryan Danielson, Colt Cabana or Nigel McGuiness will join the winner of the previous matches. Both titles will be suspended on a pole. With the winner the one who captures the titles.

Monty Brown vs. ?
Monty Brown returns to Buffalo where he competed as a Buffalo Bill. While his opponent has not been named, local promoter Hellcat has said that he has found someone larger than Monty, stronger than Monty, faster than Monty and younger than Monty. A man who truly is the future genetic freak of wrestling.

LOW KI (Senshi) !!!
How does the silent assassin fit into the mix? Low Ki (TNA’s Senshi) is one of the hardest hitting physical talents in wrestling. His kicks are legendary and his attitude defines intense. He is on a mission. There is only one target. Has that target been announced or is that person a surprise? Is the enemy of his enemy a friend? Only those in attendance will find out. Only they will see the nature of a man bent on one mission. A man willing to sacrifice it all to send a receipt and to destroy his past.

Six Man Futures Match
Chris Hero vs. Milano Collection AT vs. Delirious vs. Phil Atlas or John McChesney vs. Big Cat Lemmer vs. ?

Last years final six man featured two men who are currently in the WWE (Matt Striker & Harry Smith). This year we have scanned the globe to find the next people to see on Monday nights all vying for a future shot at the NATURAL Heavyweight title.

Chris Hero competed on Ballpark Brawl VI in the Rochester Rumble. Many people are starting to take notice of his talents and over the top style. He was also the main catalyst in the ROH vs. CZW feud. There have been many phone calls to Japan and we are pleased to have Milano Collection AT in the match. He takes high flying to a new degree of crispness and impact. Delirious takes antics to a new degree. This masked athlete from the Edge of Sanity recently won the IWC Super Indy title. Big Cat Lemmer at 375lbs. is one of the largest most versatile athletes on the East Coast. The winner of the pre-show Young Lions Match between “Fabulous” John McChesney and Phil Atlas will claim the fifth spot. Both have impressed WWE & TNA officials. Atlas has become a mainstay in New Vision Pro Wrestling utilizing a high powered aerial attack with a skill set the belies his young years. He is their current Pride Champion. McChesney just returned from an unfortunate encounter with Umaga during a recent Monday Night RAW. However, he is in the radar sights of a lot of area and national promoters and is the current NWA Upstate No Limits Champion. The final entrant will be announced at the show.

Tag Team Turmoil Table Match
The Backseat Men vs. Winner of the NWA Upstate 8 vs. Sterling James Keenan & Brodie Lee vs. (just added) The S.A.T.’s!!!!

So where do you want to go from there? How about one of the most violent matches we have ever had at a Brawl…the Tag Team Tables Turmoil Match. The rules are simple just propel your opponent through a table and he is eliminated…but not his partner. Lots have already been drawn and we will begin with the winners of the Upstate 8 Tag Tournament (NWA Upstate) that happens the day before. They will start against one of the preeminent tag teams in the nation…The Backseat Boyz – Johnny Kashmere and Trent Acid. What happens if the Backseats win the NWA Upstate tournament? Then we will just have to add another team the day of! Once one member of a team is put through a table by their opponent the next team will come to the ring. Unlike the previous teams the next group will be a pairing of local rivals as Sterling James Keenan will team with the current NWA Upstate Heavyweight Champion Brodie Lee! Will these two be able to contain their hatred for each other long enough to compete or will they each work to eliminate the other? One thing is for sure we are breaking our budget on tables!

Once another person is eliminated then our final team will be released. The team will be The SAT’s. The former ECWA, USA Pro, JAPW, & NWA Cyberspace tag champions will be the final entrant to what should be the most violent match we have ever had. At the end of this match seven men will have been propelled through wood and metal. Doctors and EMT’s will be on hand to help protect the unprotectable. It will be absolute mayhem with only one team OR one man standing. There are no winners in this one.

Women’s Tag Action
T & A (Talia Madison & April Hunter) vs. Daizee Haze & Cherry Bomb

April Hunter is no stranger to the Brawls having appeared at BPB IV, V & VI but she is a stranger to the pay window. This time she brings her tag partner the beautifully dangerous Talia Madison. Will two be better than one? One thing is for sure they plan on showing everyone why something that beautiful can hurt so much!

Opposing them will be independent superstar Daizee Haze and local newcomer Cherry Bomb. There is no question that despite Haze’s extensive experience this team comes in as an underdog. Cherry Bomb, the Southern Ontario performer, will have to fight the jitters of performing for her hometown in the biggest match of her young career.

And for those fans of previous women’s matches, yes, we have signed the stunningly picturesque Jennifer Blake to call the action right down the middle. And yes, she will wear THAT outfit.

Technical Greatness with the United States vs. Switzerland
“Classic” Colt Cabana vs. Claudio Castagnoli

Sometimes technical matches are just plain boring. Not with these guys as two of the top indy technical wrestlers will compete for the pride of their respected countries. Claudio brings a very strong opinion of himself along for the ride while Colt’s fun loving attitude is just looking for a fight. This match has all the making of a true “classic.”

Some may recognize Claudio Castagnoli by his tag team name the “Kings of Wrestling” with fellow Brawl participant Chris Hero. The Brawl Executive Committee has made it very clear that they want clean matches. So that means no guitars under the ring steps, referees with the authority to control their matches and the anticipation of problems. We are proactive here so we are stating very early that Chris Hero is banned from ringside. While Hero may not appreciate that he should feel some comfort in knowing that we play no favorites. To make sure Cabana also works within the rules we have signed a special guest referee to call the action. Someone with an in-ring history with Mr. Cabana – Mr. Chip Stetson!

Event Pre-Show

New Vision Pro vs. NWA Empire vs. NWA Upstate - Future Futures 6 man Elimination Match
TJ Harley vs. Crazzy Steve vs. Derek Duncam vs. Eric Everlast vs. Mastiff vs. Jonny Puma

Some of the best this area has to offer from some of the top feds in the nation. Unlike feds in other parts of the nation the groups here work together…at least to get the match started then all bets are off. They may be in the same fed but in this match it is everyone for themselves until we get down to the last man standing to determine the best Western New York has to offer.

Last July Scott D’Amore held a special clinic to see if this area had all the talent others had proclaimed. He was asked to pick the top person from the camp to be entered in to the first ever “Future’s Match” at BPB IV. While Mastiff was eliminated by WWE developmental talent Sean Spears, he impressed the TNA brass enough for a special audition this month! Good luck Mastiff.

Puma is the crowned prince of the Brawls having appeared at every one except for the first show. This time there is no banter with DJ’s. No tussles with Jimmy Hart. It is his chance to showcase his wrestling skills. However, the recent cover boy of the Buffalo News Gusto section has begun to gain critical acclaim from a different arena. With his standup comedy getting rave reviews wrestling has begun to be placed on the backburner. Surrounded by younger athletes is this local wrestling legend considering hanging up his boots for comedy? Hopefully not as we hope to continue to have Jonnnnnnnnnnnny Puuuuuuuuuuuuuuummaaaaaaaaa as a Brawl staple. BUT if this is to be his last match we say thank you and good luck.

New Vision Pro Wrestling Tag Title Match
The Italiano’s vs. Rhythm & Booze w/ Krystal Banks

Rythhm and Booze, one of the top up and coming tag teams in this area have been signed to face the Italiano’s and vie for their New Vision Tag belts. One half of R&B competed against Jonny Puma and his DJ cast of characters at BPB II. The other half was very vocal about Scott D’Amore picking Mastiff at BPB IV. Now it is his chance to prove whether or not D’Amore got it right! With them will be the lovely Krystal Banks, the first person announced on the Brawl. Their on again, off again manager looks to be the counter balance to the Italiano’s manager Gary Gambino. However, R&B have stated that they are going to be auditioning another potential manager for times when Banks is unable to assist them. That person will debut on August 27th!

First Ever Brawl “Young Lions” Match up
Phil Atlas vs. “Fabulous” John McChesney TITLE FOR TITLE

One of the most anticipated matches of the entire night features Atlas and McChesney. I have fielded several calls from promoters requesting a copy of this match alone! Now it is title for title with MChesney putting up his NWA Upstate No Limits Title and Atlas putting up his New Vision Pride Championship.

Both federation representatives (NWA Upstate & New Vision Pro Wrestling) have agreed to have the winner join their fed for at least one title defense. This agreement ensures that neither fed can strip the Brawl winner of their title and declare the title vacant.

The winner of the match will walk out of the building with two titles and the opportunity to get a shot at the NATURAL title if they win the 6 man Futures Match later in the 8/27 show.

Congratulations to both men and also to the two federations involved for giving the fans something extra to an already special match up and for taking the risk of having one of their belts potentially around someone not from their own locker room.

About Sergeant Slaughter: Sgt. Slaughter is one of the most recognizable, one-of-a-kind wrestlers of all time. He earned his ring name while serving in the Marine Corps. Upon beginning his wrestling career, his trademark drill attire intimidated adversaries and fans alike. Slaughter has held numerous titles in his career including WWF World title, the NWA US heavyweight title, and the NWA tag team title with Don Kernoodle.

A brutal rule breaker who feuded with the likes of Bob Backlund and Pat Patterson, The Sarge saw the light in 1984 and defended America’s honor against the hated Iron Sheik. In the same year Hulk Hogan became the WWF Champion and Slaughter left for the American Wrestling Association. In 1987, Slaughter signed a contract with Hasbro and was immortalized as a GI Joe action figure.

Slaughter returned to the WWF in 1990 and shockingly adopted the persona of an Iraqi sympathizer. He became the most hated man in wrestling, but also won the WWF World title, the first World championship of his career. Slaughter lost the belt to Hulk Hogan in the main event of WrestleMania VII. He later apologized to the fans for his actions, and was eventually accepted back into the fans’ good graces.

Slaughter was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on March 13, 2004. Sergeant Slaughter is now one of the most trusted and respected road agents. Slaughter is a legend of the squared circle and a welcome addition to the Ballpark Brawl lineup.
