BILL BEHRENS NWA NOTES for 8-8-05

Wildside TV Classics-304- Styles/Young/Michaels

By: Larry Goodman

“Ladies, your fantasies are fulfilled and gentleman, your jealousy factor just rose, cuz Three Guys That Totally Rule are hosting this week’s NWA Wildside,” said “Unrated” Salvatore Rinauro. Rinauro was flanked by “Kool” Seth Delay and “Precious” Patrick Bentley, as he previewed the feature match of the hour, a three-way (Rinauro’s specialty) bout involving some of Wildside’s all-time greatest stars.

(1) From 12/14/01: “The Beast” Bob Sapp & Stone Mountain defeated Tank Abbott & Kevin Northcutt in 7:00. Sapp and Northcutt went back and forth on an arm wringer. Northcutt worked Sapp over in the corner. Sapp showed amazing recuperative powers, as he reversed Northcutt with a series of knees to the midsection. Sapp did a horrible looking clothesline. Sapp regained control of Northcutt’s arm and turned it over to Mountain. Northcutt scored a single leg (tree trunk is more like it) takedown on Mountain and applied an old-fashioned toehold. Northcutt tagged Abbott. He tried to tie Mountain up. Mountain starting beating on Abbott. Mountain made the tag and it was Sapp and Abbott, the blind leading the clueless. Sensing impending doom from Sapp’s wild attack, Abbott covered up and crawled under the ring ropes. Back from commercial, Abbott tried a sneak attack on Da Beast. Sapp bullied Abbott into his corner and tagged out. Northcutt made a blind tag in plain view of Mountain, who turned around to allow Northcutt to club him from behind. Northcutt brawled. Northcutt hit a slingshot senton. Northcutt decked Mountain with a crescent kick and dropped an elbow for a two count. Abbott landed shots to Mountain’s ribs. Mountain came back with a knockdown lariat. Simultaneous tags set up some clumsy house cleaning by Sapp. Mountain dropped an elbow on Northcutt and Abbott made the save. Sapp entered without a tag and did a bizarre headbutt to pin Northcutt.

COMMENTS: Just a terrible match. Be that as it may, it made interesting viewing because of the personalities involved. All except Stoney were under WCW contract at the time. Abbott’s knowledge of pro wrestling brought to mind the Elvis Costello song, “Less Than Zero.” WCW was trying to capitalize on Abbott’s fame as a UFC flash in the pan. Sapp wasn’t much better at this point, but his potential was undeniable. WCW was circling the drain. But one of Sapp’s WCW appearances made an impression on K-1 founder Kazuyoshi Ishii, who invited Sapp to join his organization. Sapp made his MMA debut for K-1 in April 2002 and the rest is history. Mountain had his less than memorable one year reign as Wildside’s heavyweight champion ended by Justice (Abyss). Fast forward to the summer of 2003 and Wildside was wanting to push Mikal Adryan as their monster of the future. Mountain no showed a booking to do a job for Adryan (oddly enough, Northcutt was also a possibility for that spot). Adryan went out to the ring and buried Mountain for good, well, at least until Last Rites.

(2) From Hardcore Hell ’02: Jason Cross (with Sweet Dreams) beat Caprice Coleman in a Falls Count Anywhere Match (13:15). Joined with the action in progress at ringside, as Coleman launched into Cross with full speed flying shoulder tackle. Now THAT was a spear. Cross did a backflip off the ring barricade and took a flip bump back into the barricade. Coleman got a two count on the ramp. Cross doubled Coleman over with a gutshot. Cross flipped Coleman upside down into the barricade and followed up with a basement dropkick to the head. Cross covered Coleman on the hardwood floor for a near fall. They ran the ropes on the inside and Cross took a rude bump to the floor. Coleman used a springboard dropkick to knock Cross of the apron. Coleman slammed Cross’ head into the camera stand. Coleman put Cross’ head on the ring bell and rang it. The action moved up the stairs to the announcer’s booth. Coleman bounced Cross’ head off the wall a few times. Coleman put the headsets on and sang “how much is that doggie in the window?” as he tattooed Cross’ jaw with jabs. They went back and forth on the floor with pin attempts. Coleman hit the Teatown Trauma (elevated flatliner). “But who’s more traumatized, Coleman or Cross?” said Prazak. Cross kicked out of a very late cover by Coleman. Coleman rolled Cross back inside and climbed to the top. Cross crotched him. Coleman fought off Cross’ attack. Coleman tried for a tornado DDT and Cross countered with a snap suplex. They jockeyed for position. Cross hit the Last Rites for a near fall. Dreams choked his younger brother over the middle rope. Cross bounced off the ropes for the classic Ivan Koloff running crotch drop, but Coleman moved out his path and Dreams ate a dropkick in the face. Cross used a skin-the-cat headscissors to dump Coleman on top of Dreams. Cross did a psychotic corkscrew dive onto Dreams. Coleman hammered Cross with a double ax dive off the apron with some major han time. They launched from opposite sides of the ring with stereo springboards and collided in midair. The crowd chanted “Hardcore Hell.” Cross did the Crossfire (shooting star legdrop) and Coleman kicked out. Coleman hit the Thermal Shock and Cross kicked out. Dreams got on the apron with a chair. Cross tried to whip Coleman towards the ropes. Coleman reversed but Cross ducked and Dreams tapped Coleman’s head with the chair. Cross hit a dragon suplex with a bridge for the three count. Dreams celebrated. Jeff G. Bailey and Adam Jacobs hit the ring and started putting the boots to Coleman. Bailey ordered Dreams to attack his brother. Dreams looked hesistant. Dreams decked Jacobs and Bailey. Prazak said Coleman had his brother back.

COMMENTS: You’ve got to love the intensity both men displayed in this match. The crowd was on their feet the whole way. Although they only made two pin attempts outside the ring, most of the action took place outside the squared circle. Pro wrestlers have a finite number of bumps in their bodies (unless you’re Ric Flair) and these guys used up a lot of their quota in this match. The only major negative was the lame chairshot in the finishing sequence.

(3) From Hardcore Hell ’02: David Young defeated A. J. Styles and Rick Michaels to win the NWA Wildside Heavyweight Title in 24:03. Jeff G. Bailey was observing from ringside. Some innovative three-way spots in the opening minutes. They did a high impact three-way train wreck. Young gave Michaels a back suplex as he went up for a leapfrog on Styles. Michaels dropkicked Young in the knee, causing Young to drop Styles into a tombstone piledriver. Michaels went for pin attempts on Styles and Young broke them up. Michaels did a slingshot sunset flip on Young, as Young caught Styles with a german suplex. Styles landed on his feet and covered Young. Michaels kicked Styles to break it up. Styles returned the favor with a kick in the head. Michaels gave Young a low blow and dumped him through the ropes. Styles did a spinning headscissors floated into a sunset flip. Michaels kicked out and the momentum sent Styles through the ropes with a flying bodypress on Young. Michaels hit a pescado. Michaels took over with some great lefty punches. Wilson said Michaels started wrestling when he was 16 and throughout his career, nothing had ever been handed to him. Michaels set a table up inside the ring and grabbed a couple of chairs from ringside. Michaels had Young up on the table for a cojones concerto, but Styles broke it up with a springboard onto Michaels. Styles headscissored Young into the turnbuckles. Styles took over with stiff strikes. Styles propped a table up in the corner. Young was headed towards the table with a running Liger Bomb but Styles countered with a sunset flip. Young rolled through and catapulted Styles’ face into the top turnbuckle with an assist from Michaels. Michael superkicked Young. Michaels ate the canvas on a sweep kick by Styles. Styles used Michaels’ back to do a springboard huracanrana on Young for a near fall. They did a series of pin attempts that were broken up by the odd man out. The crowd showed their appreciation for the precision timing. They circled the ring. Michaels knocked Styles through the ropes with a forearm. As Young ran the ropes he made incidental contact with Styles, who went flying into the arms of Wildside’s most rabid fans, the South Atlanta boys. Norko and his pals went nuts chanting “Hardcore Hell.” As Michaels and Young battled at ringside, Styles came out of the crowd with a springboard flip dive off the guard rail. That drew another massive “Hardcore Hell” chant. Michaels was ready to superplex Styles, but Young got underneath and destroyed Michaels with a Liger Bomb. Styles hit a dragonrana on Young for yet another “Hardcore Hell” chant. Young kicked out. Michael sucked the wind out of Styles with a shoulder block into the corner. Michaels grappled with Young. Styles did a swanton bomb on both of them. Styles surveyed the damage. Styles hit the Clash on Michaels. Michaels kicked out. Young leapfrogged Styles and went for the spinebuster. Styles blocked it. Styles did a leapfrog and Young caught him with the spinebuster. Michaels waffled Young with the chair he got from Bailey. Michaels made the cover and Styles kicked out. Michaels and Styles traded blows. Michaels backdropped Styles over the top. Styles landed on the apron and gave Michaels a neckbreaker across the top rope. Styles pulled Michaels out and kicked the crap out him. Styles impaled Michaels on the guard rail. Styles pulled a second table from under the ring and set Michaels up on it. Styles went to the top rope, but Young came from behind with a back suplex off the top. Young launched an Asai moonsault towards the table. Michaels moved. Young went crashing through the table. Referee Andrew Thomas and members of the crack Wildside security force ran over to where Young was laying motionless. Back inside the ring, Michaels rolled Styles over and made the cover. Michaels looked disgusted when Styles kicked out. Michaels taunted Styles. Michaels went for the Clash, but Styles countered with the Starmaker (Air Raid Crash). Styles threw an arm across Michaels, who rolled a shoulder at 2 and ½. Prazak said Young was breathing and his legs were moving but he was in no condition to continue in the match. Michaels hung Styles out to dry on a dropkick. Michaels staggered to his feet and used a vertical suplex for a near fall. Michaels went for an inside cradle and Styles kicked out again. Michaels got a backslide but couldn’t hold Styles shoulders down for the three. Styles caught Michaels with his head down and delivered a DDT. Styles made an exhausted one arm cover. Michaels barely got a shoulder off the mat at two. Styles hit his quebrada into an inverted DDT. Styles signaled that the end was near. Styles hit an awkward looking Clash. Bailey crawled into the ring to distract Thomas. Styles chased Bailey out. Michaels DDTed Styles. Michaels got a chair from Bailey. Michaels gave Styles the Double Shot (HHH facebuster into a neckbreaker) on the steel chair to eliminate the defending champion at 20:35. The crowd went dead silent. Wilson was irate. Prazak said Bailey had been wanting to take Styles out for a long time. Bailey pointed to where Young was still laid out on the floor. Michaels and Bailey supervised while security shoved Young’s limp body back into the ring. Prazak said Michaels was about to get his three-peat with the Wildside title. Young kicked out for at 2.9 for a monster pop. Michaels gave Thomas a short arm clothesline. Bailey had the chair on the ready, but Styles came out nowhere and kicked the chair into Bailey’s head. Meanwhile, Michaels hit the Double Shot on Young. Speedy Nelson slid into the ring to make the count and Young kicked out with authority. Michaels took Nelson out with the Double Shot. Security carried Bailey to the back. Michaels set the table up in the ring. The crowd chanted Young’s name. Michaels went for the Double Shot (what good a table would do on that that move, I have no clue). Young escaped it twice. Young put Michaels through the table with a spinebuster. The crowd counted in unison as Thomas’ hand slapped the canvas for the 1..2..3. The celebration was on. Styles rushed into the ring to give the belt to Young. The closing shot showed Young on his knees with the title belt extended high above his head.

COMMENTS: Without a doubt, this was the most memorable three way match in Wildside history. As much as I loved the quality of the work in Rave vs. Gordy vs. Sydal from Last Rites, it wasn’t built up like this match and couldn’t touch the level of drama seen here. They didn’t do the usual deal where one guy sells and two guys work. Instead, it was mostly three-way work that required intricate timing. This was another match where the crowd was on their feet the entire time. Watching this match reminded me just how good Michaels was as a heel. He was also in just about the best shape of his career. A severe back injury in late 2002 deprived Michaels of the opportunity of ever becoming a three time Wildside champion. Young was much heavier than he is now, although it didn’t seem to adversely affect his work. Young’s selling of the moonsault through the table was brilliant stuff. I recall that in the building that night, a lot of fans bought it as the real thing. It didn’t hurt that Young’s wife and child were at ringside looking distraught. Young and Styles went up to Nashville the next week and did the match that earned them their spots with TNA.

Hardcore Hell ’02 was the first and one of the finest examples of the “something for everyone” big show that became Wildside’s signature. Along with this match and Cross/Coleman, the show featured Rave vs. Tony Mamaluke in a stellar I Quit match, and Tank vs. Iceberg in a Cage of Horrors bloodbath.

NWA Anarchy

TV Taping - August 6th, 2005

Slim J defeated Andrew Alexander.

Tank entered the ring & gave up his title as commissioner because he put his hands on Scottie Wrenn & got beat up. He then left the ring with his head held low.

Brandon P returned to action after being out with a shoulder injury & defeated Simon Sermon. Following the match, Brandon was challenged via a very weird video message to face Scottie Wrenn at the next television taping. The message warned that a storm was coming.

Jeremy V defeated Billy Buck, then pulled out brass knuckles to assault Buck with, but was stopped by Slim J.

Todd Sexton defeated Skeeter Frost. After the match, Sexton complimented Frost on his attempt & told him that he was proud of him. Sexton was Frost's trainer. Then, Sexton said that he found him a partner for the Mysterious Benefactor tournament. The partner was Tony Mamaluke.

Alabama Attitude defeated The Guys That Totally Rule to win the Tag Team Titles after TC Carnage used a title belt as a weapon.

Onyx returned to defeat Brent Silver.

Jeff Lewis retained the TV Title by defeating Ken Westbrooks.

Andrew Alexander & Stryknyn entered the ring to announce that the two have formed a tag team & to complain about their lack of opponents. They then issued an open challenge to any team. The challenge was answered by Iceberg, who completely destroyed the two. Alexander then complained that the match wasn't a tag team match, but a handicap match, so Iceberg introduced Tank as his partner. Iceberg & Tank destroyed Alexander & Stryknyn before having a little fun with a microphone & Alexander's backside.

Mikal Adryan & Jeff G. Bailey made their way to the ring. Bailey sung Adryan's praises & complained that Adryan had been forced to find himself a partner for the Mysterious Benefactor tournament. He then introduced Jeff Lewis as Adryan's partner.

The Lost Boys defeated Pomp & Circumstance.

Alabama Attitude made their way to the ring to show off their newly won Tag Team Titles only to be chased away by The Urban Assault Squad.

Mikal Adryan faced Biohazard in a non-title match. Biohazard stood his ground early on, but was quickly overcome by the sheer force of Adryan. During the match, Jeff Lewis made his way to ringside with a chair. Seeing an opportunity, Jeff G. Bailey distracted the referee, allowing Lewis to bring the chair into the ring & help Adryan score the pinfall. After the match, Lewis & Adryan had plans to destroy Biohazard, but Onyx made the save. Onyx then announced that he would be Biohazard's partner in the Mysterious Benefactor tournament & that he was coming for Adryan's belt.

SHOW NEWS & NOTES
NWA Pro Wrestling Express continued down the road to the promotion's 11th Anniversary Show with another night of solid wrestling action from the home of wrestling in Pittsburgh, the Sportatorium.

The show started off with Club Extasy, hosted by Eric Extasy. Extasy said that he had been receiving a lot of these letters from his "secret admirer" recently, and he wanted to hear from who was writing the letters. This brought out Cupid, who had his charge Eisen Drache by his side. Extasy said he really hoped that Cupid was not his admirer, and Cupid said he "Ain't no faaaaaaag".

Cupid drove that point home numerous times, before saying that he was out there because he gets tons of broads, and he wanted to know which one had the hots for Extasy. Extasy said that this was ridiculous, and left, as Cupid once again reminded Extasy of his different sexual orientation. Then Cupid got the mic and showed Eisen Drache how to properly strut when he enters the ring.

The first match saw the Tri Chi Fraternity's Hammer call out Devil Bhudakahn. Hammer said that he thought it was low what Bhudakahn did to Nikita Allanov by breaking his wrist, and he wanted to make him pay. Hammer started the match off hot, but after he dumped Bhudakahn to the outside, BC Steele brought out Crusher Hansen to watch Bhudakahn's back. Bhudakahn quickly went after Hammer's leg, keeping the big man on the ground, and kept the advantage with a bit of help from Steele and Hansen on the outside.

Hammer managed to battle back and took the advantage after a big overhead slam after catching Bhudakahn in the air off the top rope. Hammer nailed Bhudakahn with a big chokeslam from the top rope, but as referee Shawn Patrick made the count Hansen jumped on the ring apron to stop the count. Hammer started to go after Hansen, but Allanov hit ringside and pulled Hansen off the apron.

Allanov made the mistake of hitting Hansen with his injured wrist, which was in a big brace. Hansen slammed Allanov's wrist into the ringside barrier, while Steele got on the apron. Hammer went right after him, but Bhudakahn caught him with a schoolboy and got the pinfall. Hansen joined in with Bhudakahn and worked over Hammer, until Allanov stumbled into the ring with a street sign, and the duo and Steele bailed.

The next match saw Jason Cage take on Teddy Fine. Fine once again looked very impressive in this match, and Cage seemed a bit out of sync, having been involved mostly in tag team action as of late. Fine worked over Cage with his size advantage, but Cage had the crowd behind him. After hitting Fine with a splash off the top rope, Dash Bennett and Sean Dahmer hit the ring and helped Fine lay out Cage, which got the DQ.

Stacy Hunter then got the mic at ringside, and said that she was now taking Dahmer & Bennett straight to the top and they were here to send a message to any other tag team in PWX. Dan Miles hit the ring to make the save for his partner, and the four bailed out. Referee Shawn Patrick got the mic and said that he was ordering a tag team match right now between Dahmer & Bennett and Cage & Miles.

Hunter's charges continued to walk off, until Patrick said that the duo would be suspended if they didn't return. At the count of eight they returned to the ring swinging chairs, but a waiting Cage & Miles ducked and took the fight to them. The fan favorites Miles & Cage started off hot, but then Dahmer & Bennett, with plenty of help from Fine and Hunter, worked over Miles. Miles finally made the tag to Cage, but Bennett nailed him with a clothesline after Cage missed a big enzeguri, and nailed him with the Super Dash Driver and got the pin.

As Hunter's group celebrated their win, Cupid and Eisen Drache hit the ring. Drache took out Miles on the outside, and then Cupid threw Cage back in the ring. Cupid told Drache to do it just like he showed him, and Drache then took out Cage with Cupid's finishing move, Cupid's Arrow, and Cage was out cold. Cupid and Drache then strutted over the prone body of Cage.

Scott Venom was out next with All Business Brant at his side. He said that because he said he had no time to defend the Brass Knuckles Championship and do all his duties as part of the Championship Committee, the Championship Committee was given a special advisor to help ease some of Venom's workload. Venom then brought out the advisor, Damian Stockholm.

Venom, obviously thinking that Stockholm was going to be on his side, was visibly pissed off when Stockholm said that his first order of business was finding a match for Blitzz, who had not been given a match yet on the card. Venom said he wasn't sure who Blitzz could wrestle, so Stockholm said that he was going to make him the third man in the Triple Treat Match for Venom's Brass Knuckles Title.

The Three Rivers Title match was next, and the crowd was solidly behind Eric Extasy in this one. Taylor went right after Extasy, and was looking to hit a Diamondcutter, but Extasy had it scouted and managed to work his way out of it each time. Despite his size, Taylor is quickly becoming one of the hardest hitters in the NWA, and Extasy showed he was much more than a comedy wrestler here, as he took everything Taylor hit him with, and then dished it out back.

Extasy hit Taylor with a variety of suplexes, but seemed to have found a weakness on Taylor, hitting him with numerous devastating choke slams, but Taylor kept managing to kick out. Taylor finally nailed Extasy with a nasty looking Cutter, but was slow to make the cover, and Extasy managed to kick out. Taylor called for help from Krystal Frost, who had been missing at Tailor's side for a few shows, but she refused. Taylor started to grab her and she tossed the Three Rivers Title to Extasy, who nailed Taylor with the belt.

Extasy then nailed Taylor with the STD, and got the pin in the middle of the ring. Frost then got in the ring and called for the mic. She ran down Taylor and called him an "asshole" for making her stay at home. She then turned to Extasy and said that she was the one who wrote the love letters to him, which made her wearing Extasy's black and pink colors make a whole lot of sense. Extasy was in shock, because as everyone one knows, he plays for the other team. Frost tried to get the fans to cheer for Extasy, but he just backed off, and left the ring.

Taylor then was on his feet and nailed Frost from behind with a big push, and then started to choke her. Taylor started to shake Frost and Extasy hit the ring and clocked Taylor, who then bailed out of the ring. The crowd was very split on this, with half of them cheering Extasy for saving Frost, and half wanting him to hit her himself. Instead Extasy let Frost lead the cheers for him, and left ringside with her, but was still standoff-ish.

Venom managed to pull off an impressive, if sleazy win to retain his Brass Knuckles title. Cupid encouraged Drache to work with Venom, although he had to keep being reminded by Venom to help him out. Blitzz was basically facing a 4-on-1 challenge here, because Venom had Brant helping him out at ringside, and Drache had Cupid. Blitzz managed to look very impressive in this singles match, but wasn't able to pull out the win, mostly because of the incompetence of Drache, who went after Venom when Blitzz was down, against the advisement of Cupid.

Drache went for a clothesline on Venom, but Venom ducked the move and speared Drache, which was enough to get the pin. A very solid match from three men you didn't really expect to see facing each other.

A very brutal matchup was next between Crusher Hansen and Justin Idol. Idol has been on the snide recently, although he is technically the top contender to the Three Rivers title. Hansen went after Idol with brute force in this match, and it really paid off for him, ah he held quite an advantage for most of the bout. Idol showed his resiliency however, and battled back. BC Steele was at ringside wearing a hockey helmet, obviously still weary of Hansen. Hansen worked over Idol and was trying to hit the Crusher Slam, but Idol used his speed and quickness to counter the move, and keep a step ahead of Hansen.

As Idol gained the advantage Devil Bhudakahn, Dahmer & Bennett hit ringside and went after Idol, but were ran off by the Tri Chi's. Idol went up top for his frog splash, but Steele managed to trip him, and Idol was crotched on the turnbuckle. Hansen hit a big superplex, but Idol managed to kick out. Hansen hit a nasty lariat on Idol, and then nailed Idol with a Crusher Slam in the middle of the ring to get the pinfall. This was a great match by all accounts, with Hansen getting a very much needed "message" win.

The main event saw Scottie Gash defending his title against the man he beat for the title one month ago, Devin Devine. The match started off very back and forth, with both men going at it full speed. Gash seemed to be a step ahead of Devine, but after missing a clothesline Devine attempted an O'Connor roll up and Devine pulled Gash's back into his knees. Devine then started to pick apart the lower back of Gash, with a lot of effectiveness. Gash fought back by going after Devine's arm, and the match turned into a great mat match with both men finding new ways to work on the other guy's injured parts. Gash worked over Devine's arm and went for a New School, and landed on Devine's arm before rolling the move over into a Crossface. The crowd started chanting for Devine to tap, but he managed to work his way to the ropes.

Gash broke the hold and managed to work Devine into the corner. Gash went up top and was knocked off the top by Chris Taylor, who snuck down to ringside. Justin Idol hit ringside to make the save hitting Devine with a superkick as referee Shawn Patrick went after Taylor. Gash caught Devine with a Spotlight Drop and got the pinfall, which brought Taylor into the ring for a beatdown on Gash. Idol ran them both off, but Taylor grabbed the mic and said that he was fed up with the Super Duper Cool Dudes, and he was tired of being the Three Rivers Champion, and he was going to take the Heavyweight Title from Scottie Gash, and bring it back to the Society of Sinners.

NWA Pro Wrestling Express returns to the Sportatorium on Saturday August 20th. For more information on the card and ticket information, check out www.PWXONLINE.com.

Results from NWA-INDY AUGUST ANARCHY Aug. 6th.

1st. Match: The Patriot vs. "Cold Blooded" Shawn Coury

The match was thrown out when Team Canada's Eric Young interjected himself into the match and brutally attacking the Patriot until Tiny Tim ran in to make the save and challenged him to a match later in the night.

2nd. Match: Josh Wilson came out and made an announcement that he represented every other promotion in Indiana and was there in NWA-INDY to challenge anyone man tough enough to take him on. His challenge was answered by 7ft. Humongus which made short work of Josh with a spinebuster and a chokeslam.

3rd. Match: Angel vs. Ray "The Bear" Steele w/ Daniel Montgomery. These two brawled all over the building. The match finally made its way back to the ring and as soon as Angel was ready to apply the 11th Commandment on Steele, Montgomery came to the aid of his "client", took off his belt and began choking Angel out with it. Bear then began to whip Angel viciously with the leather strap until Montgomery finally convinced him to stop.

4th. Match was for  #1 Contender to the NWA Midwest X Division Title: Chad "Too Badd" Allegra vs. Scotty Murrey. This was a very competitive high flying athletic contest between two up and coming NWA Superstars. Chad was able to hit the "Too Badd" flying neckbreaker from the top rope for the victory.

5th. Match: Indianapolis Tornado Match: Sean Casey w/ Samantha and a substitute "Naughty Body" Quicksilver vs. The Soulshooters (Drew Johnson and Appolo Starr). Casey and Quicksilver were anything but cohesive as a tag team as The Soulshooters dominated most of the match. It came down to Quicksilver doing a Sean Casey imitation of trying to deliver the superkick to Appolo but he was able to catch Quicksilver's foot and spun him around then out of nowhere Casey connected Appolo's jaw with his own superkick. Drew then clotheslined Casey to the floor which left Quicksilver to cover Appolo for the 1-2-3. After the match Sean had a few choice words for Quicksilver for stealing the pinfall and his thunder.

6th. Match: Team Canada's Eric Young vs. Tiny Timmy. This match went back and forth with alot of exciting fast paced moves from both participants. The fans were clearly behind Timmy with their USA chants. Eric Young was able to pick up the pinfall in the match. After the match Young decide to take out his agressions towards Americans by beating Timmy with the hockey stick which held his Canadian flag. After seeing enough from the commentary booth "Wildcat" Chris Harris hit the ring to chase Eric off and promised to give Eric an American beating at the next TNA PPV next Sunday August 14th. when AMW teams with The Naturals to take on all 4 members of Team Canada.

Main Event: Two Referees and No DQ: "The Monster" Abyss vs. "Wildcat" Chris Harris. This was another classic meeting between these two that had the fans on their feet during the entire match. Both of them beat on each other back and forth. Many near falls for both as they hit each other with everything they had. Finally Eric Young ran down to ringside to cheer on Abyss and as soon as he had the opportunity, Young nailed "Wildcat" with the hockey stick whih enabled Abyss to hit Harris with the Black Hole Slam for the 3 count. Abyss and Young began to lay the boots to Chris Harris until NWA-INDY Owner's Rob Williams and Dozer came out to break it up. Williams said that Eric Young and "Wildcat" would have a chance to settle their differences next month at September Shakedown on Friday, Sept.16th. and that he had a special surprise for Abyss. Rob Williams made the blockbuster announcement that at September Shakedown Abyss would go one on one with former ECW, WWE, and current new TNA Star RHINO!

NWA Universal Notes, Events, Rankings, & Roll Call 8/2/05

From the desk of the commish…
by Mike Iles

Wow…what a month it has been. July was the biggest month in NWA-U
history and so much happened. The start of our TV show, the first ever
Television Champion was crowned. August should be big also!!!

First off our TV show "NWA Intense TV" debuted on July 1st to
resounding reviews. We received several e-mails from fans and
wrestlers alike that were impressed with the show and the announce
team. We drew a 3.8 market share the very first week, which is roughly
20,000-25,000 households in the
Tulsa viewing area and we have been
steadily climbing ever since. Add on the 200+ downloads we were
getting on The Wrestling Network and we were very impressed with the
excitement our show was generating. Unfortunately, The Wrestling
Network has changed back to their original format of only showing NWA
Virginia
shows on the site. We are actively pursuing other options to
get our show on the web somewhere. We will keep you posted.

To close out the month of July, NWA Universal President Christopher
Fox announced that former WWE superstar (and
Oklahoma
native) Charlie
Haas has been signed to appear during our August shows in
Muskogee
and
at
Bell's Amusement Park in Tulsa. Haas is currently touring Italy
and
upon his return, Fox will begin negotiations with Haas to work for
NWA-U on a monthly basis.

As a matter of fact, the August shows at the Muskogee Civic Center and
Bell's Amusement Park are shaping up to be big as well. In addition to
Charlie Haas, TNA's Diva of the Year Traci Brooks will be appearing
along with "ODB" Jessica James. You might remember the last time
Jessica James was in NWA-U she was in a Mixed Tag Match paired with
Scotty Charisma against Slyck Wagner Brown & April Hunter. This will
be the first appearance in NWA-U for Traci Brooks and I know all of
you look forward to seeing her, as do the rest of the NWA-U staff.

Until next time…See you at ringside!!!
