BILL BEHRENS NWA NOTES for 1-23-06

NWA ANARCHY TV TAPING 1-21-06 BY JAMES OLSEN
Whew what a night Saturday  was! A crowd of over 200 paid fans (one of the  largest ever for  a TV taping in the building in recent years) who were white hot  from bell to bell, witnessed some top notch competition and some  key events  unfold as the NWA Anarchy Television product's syndication  has begun.
Let's take a look at the highlights of the card,  the results and news items:
1) Ken Westbrooks defeated Adrian  Hawkins via a submission
- The grappler famous statewide for  his amateur accomplishments, Westbrooks,  showed a really intense  step-up in his game. We talked about the stakes rising  with the  promise of television stardom for these guys, and it looks like  Westbrooks is showing he wants more high profile matches.
-  Hawkins looked okay out there. The kid reminds me of a young Mike  Pittman.  You can definitely see the raw talent he has, so if he  can put it together, a  little more seasoning will see him rise  in the ranks.
2)Alabama Attitude defeated The Urban Assault  Squad in the finals of an 8  team turmoil match for the #1 Contendership  to the NWA Anarchy Tag Team Titles.
- Anarchy Tag Team Champions  Jeremy V and Jason Blackman provided guest  commentary for this  match, scouting out their next title defense.
- The match also  included the first ever two on two show down between the  most  prominent version of the former 3 Guys Who Totally Rule as Fast  Eddie and  Sal Rinauro collided with "Kool" Seth Delay and Patrick  Bentley. That match saw  Fast Eddie hit the "Fasteddious" on Seth  Delay from the apron to the floor!!  That was undoubtedly one of  the wildest moves of the night! These two teams  eliminated each  other by going the time limit.
- The turmoil also included  Hallowmass (who I hear are on their way to  Mexico's AAA promotion,  good job guys!), The High Rollers, The returning Texas  Treats,  and Rahn Jordan & James Boulevard.
- I actually predicted  the Attitude victory in our last column here, but it's  not a prediction  I really wanted to come true. They embodied what I said though,  they had something to prove and now they have a shot at the tag  team  championships once more.
-The Urban Assault Squad are  waiting patiently to cash in their re-match  clause title shot  as former champions. There is no expiration date on that, and  they  can petition the championship committee for it at any time. It appears  their playing their own game of chess to see how the pieces fall.
3) Brandon P defeated Tank by DQ in a brutal match.
-  There were some sparks flying before this match even got under way.  Credit  Maria Berry's Bodyslam This for this tidbit:
"Steven  Prazak was in the arena  last night to serve as special guest ring  announcer for the match between  Brandon P and one of Dan Wilson's  Devil Rejects. There were some heated words  exchanged between  the two men, Wilson & Prazak, who once served as the  announce  team for NWA Wildside."
- Prazak refused the offer to join  and quickly ran away, but not before  Anarchy matchmaker Jerry  Palmer came out to set some things straight. It  appeared Wilson  anticipated this, as he'd somehow obtained a manager's liscense  not only for himself, but for the 7 foot tall Dominous to serve  as his  bodyguard. Palmer, however banned the rest of the crew,  Shaun Tempers, Azrael,  and Iceberg from ringside and showing authority  said he wouldn't even have the  match if they didn't leave.
-  The match itself was a brutal affair that showed a new side of Brandon  P.  The mentoring from "The Soul Assassin" Kory Chavis appears  to be paying off.  We've seen him fearless in trying to fend off  the Rejects in previous weeks, but  he hit Tank with as many haymakers  as he could throw as soon as the bell rang in  this one. It appeared  Tank was legitimately surprised as he may have  underestimated  P. Tank was able to gain control of the match and put a first  class  pounding on Brandon...but he kept fighting back! Even after 3 of  Tank's  sick headbutt flurries, P staggered to his senses and knocked  Tank loopy with a  Jerry Lawler style punch right between the eyes!  As he used the chance to hit  his missile dropkick, The Rejects  defied Palmer's orders and all hit the ring  for the DQ, showing  they have no respect for anything.
- Showing his fearless attitude  in taking a leadership role defending NWA  Anarchy, "The Soul Assassin"  Kory Chavis came to his protege's aid.
Not far  behind him  was the returning ACE ROCKWELL!!! Many wondered if he'd ever return  to wrestling after his best friend of 10 years Shaun Tempers joined  The Devil's  Rejects. The skeptics were silenced as Rockwell hit  the ring in a fury and went  right after his former partner and  near brother. Dominous and Wilson were quick  to get Tempers out  of harms way so Rockwell never got his hands on him  unfortunately.
- As a result of this chaos, matchmaker Palmer made a 6 man  tag team grudge  match for the next TV Taping on February 4th,  2006.
It will be Kory Chavis,  Brandon P, and Ace Rockwell  vs. 3 of the Devil's Rejects in 6 man tag team  action!! I'm sure  Palmer is looking for another way to punish the Rejects for  direct  violation of an executive order, which resulted in the ending of  the  match.
4) Big Henry Hoss won a 3 way match
- The  fans seem to be quite happy that the big Hoss has returned.
-  He debuted a new finishing move called the Kender-Breaker and was  also in  great spirits all night as he bragged about his daughter  killing her first deer  to anyone that would listen.
5) "The  Human Action Figure" Patrick Bentley defeated "Unrated" Sal Rinauro  in a great match.
- Rinauro came out complaining about the  tag team turmoil match draw and how  he'll prove that one on one  he can smoke Bentley. Bentley responded and  surprised Sal in about  8 minutes with a pinning combination. This was a big win  for Bentley  over Sal who's raised his stock as a star in such promotions as  Ring  Of Honor and Full Impact Pro Wrestling.
6) NWA Anarchy  Television Championship: "The Feature Presentation" Jeff Lewis  and  Hayden Young battled to a 15 minute time limit draw.
- This  was a rematch from their previous 10 minute draw. Young is proving  himself to be a thorn in the side of the champion. None of Jeff  Lewis'  predictions came true, he didn't get DQ'd, he didn't get  counted out. He  probably thought he'd be able to easily beat Young  and squash his contendership  hopes quickly. He kept trying to  put him away, but Young's heart really showed  through. I'd dare  say he even outwrestled Lewis in this match, where there last  encounter  was about 50/50.
- Also on February 4th, another re-match has  been ordered with the 15 minute  standard TV time limit as of press  time. Young is now running on borrowed time.  If Lewis beats him  after two draws, it's going to be hard to fathom him getting  another  title shot. If Young can go the distance again he may earn himself  another shot, but even that is questionable depending on how he  looks in the  match. Either way, this will be one competitive match.
7) Main Event- The God Squad: Chad Parham & Luke defeated  Onyx & Mikal Adryan after a top rope double stomp and Halo  combo pinned Onyx.
- Jeff G. Bailey, also not exactly on the  Christmas Card list of the Palmer  family called the Anarchy owner  a "Moon Faced Simpleton" for recruiting Luke,  saying that he'd  begged to join the NWA Elite at the end of NWA Wildside and he  may  still be on his side. (This was proven to be untrue)
- This  match was made as a result of the NWA Elite's attempt to ruin Todd  Sexton's send-off party after Adryan defeated him in a loser leaves  town match.  Parham made the save, and Palmer made the match as  a dream partner tag  collision!
- Jeff G. Bailey tried to  sway the outcome of the match with interference but  was thwarted  by "Kool" Seth Delay and "The Human Action Figure" Patrick Bentley  (Parham's best friends). Bentley sprayed what appeared to be water  from a spray  bottle in Bailey's eyes and he had a fit claiming  blindness. If it was just  water, (which Anarchy representatives  have every indication to believe it was)  then Bailey is one big  p***y. Onyx and Adryan were furious in the post match,  Onyx claimed  it was gasoline, Bailey threatened a lawsuit, and Adryan was  freaking  out. Jerry Palmer told him he'd better get well soon because on  2/4/06  they'd also be involved in a 6 man tag, with Parham, Bentley  and Delay taking on  Onyx, Mikal Adryan, and JEFF G. BAILEY!!!
Other News and Notes:
- Jeff G. Bailey was apparently  having a terrible weekend after being  "blinded" and then hearing  the TV play by play of his Carolina Panthers losing  the NFC Championship  game to The Seattle Seahawks. He contacted the Anarchy  offices  this morning stating that he plans on pursuing full legal action  unless  there is an investigation as to the "real" contents of  the water bottle he was  sprayed with. I mean, Bailey's done some  horrible things to people, so I  wouldn't put it past anyone to  try and knock him off. That being said, I talked  to Bentley and  Delay, and they say it was meant to simply equalize the match and  they swear it was just water and I believe them. This should take  some  interesting turns.
- Ace Rockwell is set to appear in  a major motion picture soon. Word has it  that it will star Ashton  Kutcher and Kevin Costner and is filming somewhere in  the coastal  Carolinas with a navy theme, tentatively titled “The Guardian”.  More  on this as we get it. Rockwell was in a far from chipper  mood Saturday night and  would hardly talk to anyone but Kory Chavis  whom he seemed to be asking for  advice. It was great to see him  back and okay after what the Rejects did to him,  and his bad mood  was certainly understandable.
- The new wrestling promotion  slated to begin filming for MTV soon will  feature NWA Arena favorites,  Luke, Delirious, Matt Sydal, and "The Original  Gangsta" New Jack  announced as of press time. Word on the street is that Sal  Rinauro  and Jimmy Rave are also rumored to be a part of this, but not confirmed.
- Longtime NWA arena favorite Caprice Coleman took on another  Wildside  alumnist, Jamie Noble in a WWE match, featured on WWE.com.  Also on WWE.com in  the “Unlimited” portion you can see Jeff  Lewis, Mikal Adryan, Shadow Jackson,  and Brandon P escorting Todd  Sexton’s legendary trainer “HBK” Shawn Michaels  from the  building.
- And for the fans that miss the action live in the  NWA Arena, don’t forget  to check out NWA Anarchy on one of these  great affiliates, or check your local  listings. If your local  network providers don’t carry it ask for it by name!  We’ll  talk to you later next week for the February 4th Television preview.

NWA ANARCHY RESULTS TV TAPING 1-21-06 BY MARIA BERRY

Ken Westbrooks defeated Adrian Hawkins via a submission
Tag  Team Turmoil match- After seeing teams from Salvatore Rinuaro & Fast  Eddie, Seth Delay & Patrick Bentley, the High Rollers  and the Texas Treats  elminated in this match to determine the  number one contender for the tag team  titles the final match up  of the turmoil match featured the feud of the year  participants  Alabama Attitude and the Urban Assault Squad.
Alabama Attitude  defeated Urban Assault Squad by holding Nemesis' foot and allowing  the 3 count.
Steven Prazak was in the arena last night to serve  as special guest ring  announcer for the match between Brandon  P and one of Dan Wilson's Devil Rejects.  There were some heated  words exchanged between the two men, Wilson & Prazak,  who  once served as the announce team for nwa wildside. Owner Jerry Palmer,  forced Azrael, Iceberg & Shaun Tempers to leave the ring area.  Leaving Tank  to face off with Brandon P, along with Dominous and  Dan Wilson at ringside.  Slowly all three Devil's Rejects made  their way back to ringside to become  involved in the match. Kory  Chavis and Ace Rockwell came to Brandon P's aid, who  won the match  via dq. Murder 1 also came and stood on the ramp watching the  action  unfold, after the Reject's left ringside Murder 1 exited behind  them....could Murder 1 be joining with the Rejects.
Big Henry  Hoss won a 3 way match defeating his opponents with his brand new  finisher the Kender Backbreaker (Kender is Redneck spelled backwards...great  idea for the big man)
TV title match- Jeff Lewis successfully  defended his tv title over Hayden  Young once again when the time  ran out on the match. Great match between these  two young lions,  look for more matches out of them in the future I'm sure.
Main  Event- Chad Parham & Luke (formerly known as Altar Boy Luke)  defeated Onyx & Mikal Adryan. Jeff G. Bailey tried hard to  get involved in  the match but was stopped by Patrick Bentley & Seth Delay, Bentley sprayed  Bailey in the eyes with his water  bottle leaving the big mouthed manager blinded  for the remainder  of the match. Post match- Adryan demanded medical attention  for  his injured boss while Jerry Palmer made some surprising announcements.
Hardcore Hell 2006 will be held on Saturday March 11th!

The  first match  signed for this Cornelia favorite is Mikal Adryan  defending his heavyweight  title once again againsty Chad Parham.
At the next tv taping Feb.4th, Jeff G. Bailey will have to  pull on his  wrestling gear when he teams up with Onyx and Mikal  Adryan to face off against  Chad Parham, Seth Delay & Patrick  Bentley. Also on the 4th, Brandon P, Kory  Chavis & Ace Rockwell  will take on the Devil's Rejects, plus Jeff Lewis vs Hayden Young and Jeremy V & Jason Blaman defend the Tag Team Titles against Alabama Attitude.!

First the NWA GCW news. The wrestlers  here next week, that I know of, will be  Colt Darrenger, Rock-C  and the Queen of GCW Bad Company's Amy Young. GCW TV  champion  Mike Foxx suffered a dislocated shoulder and returned home to Texas  to  get it evaluated. How long he will be out is not known. GCW  Hi Voltage was shown  last night. Basically it showed the endings  of all the matches and also wrestler  interviews. Good show overall.  Around 300 people like there was last week, with  there only being  a handful of ringside seats left. Fans had a chance to get  their  pictures taken with the GCW tag team champions, John Bogie and Erik  Watts.
The first match of the evening was the debut of Scott  Steele as he took on  Heath Miller. Miller is a very popular wrestler  in the sports arena. The match  started off with both wrestlers  exchanging hammerlocks, until Heath got the  first advantage with  drop toe. But Miller's advantage didn't last long, because  a few  minutes later after a jumping forearm, Steele hits a hiptoss. He  then sent  Heath into the corner and hits shoulder thrust. A few  seconds later, Steele hits  a over head belly to belly suplex.  Scott then hits a suplex. Miller is able to  regain the momentum  by cipping Steele's knee. Then he started to go to work on  knee  with knee drivers and such. Now there was a brief moment when Scott  got an  advantage when he was able to reverse a irish whip and  hit a powerslam. But  Miller ducks a Steele clothesline and hits  Slice Bread #2. Then Heath went back  to work on the big man's  leg by elbowing the knee and then grapevining the leg.  A short  time later Miller locks Steele into a sharpshooter. After being  able to  fight off a comeback from Scott, which includes a cobra  clutch sweep over the  knee backbreaker, Heath is able to whip  Scott into the corner and then hits a  DDT. Miller then climbs  to the top and hits Steele with a flying crossbody.  Heath eventually  puts Scott into a sleeper, but Scott broke the move by slamming  Heath back first into the corner. He then puts Miller into a running  powerslam,  ala the British Bulldog. Now it looked like Heath regained  the advantage was it  looked like he was going to hit the twilt  a whirl DDT, but Scott slips out and  hits a huge spear. The Steele  picks Miller up and hits a crucifix powerbomb for  the victory.  Winner in 8:13 Scott Steele.
The 2nd match of the evening was  Cru Jones taking on Vordell Walker. Neither  wrestler was able  to get an early advantage with both wrestlers exchanging  holds.  Walker was finally able to the first shot in by hitting a northern  lights  suplex.. Vordell later hits some chops in the corner, but  soon Cru is able to  gain the advantage. Jones puts Walker up into  the fireman’s carry and hits a  over the knee ribbreaker. A few  seconds later, when it looked like Vordell was  coming back, Cru  hits a huge running knee to the gut. He then whips Walker into  the  corner and meets him with an overhead belly to belly suplex. But  Vordell  began to fight back and hits Cru with a German. Then he  goes into the corner  waiting for Jones to get up. Cru gets up  and staggers into the corner, only to  be met with a dropkick to  the chest by Vordell. Walker then hits Jones with a  running clothesline.  Cru though started to fight back by being innovative and  hitting  a modified shoulder breaker. Now the ending was weird in that both  wrestlers were running around, but Walker was able to get the  victory as he puts  Jones into a sunset flip pin for the victory.  Winner in 7:16 Vordell Walker.
Another first for GCW as Guy  Hagler did a live backstage interview with Bad  Company’s Chris  Stevens. Stevens explained why he attacked Mike Foxx. He told  everyone  that he is moving on to bigger and better things and that he is  going  to kick Damien Steele’s butt tonight.
The next match  was the Damien Steele taking on Bad Company’s Chris Stevens,  who  was accompanied to the ring by Greg Brown. Steele got the early  advantage as  he surprises Stevens with a headlock takeover. A  few seconds later he puts Chris  on his back with a running shoulder.  Stevens tries to hit a belly to back  suplex, but Steele reverses  the attempt into headlock takeover. A short time  later, Chris  takes a short cut by pulling Damien’s hair to send him to the  mat,  but Damien regained the advantage with a headlock takeover.  While being kept in  the headlock, Stevens finally get to his feet  and reverses Steele’s headlock  into a over the top wristlock  and turns that into a sweep. Chris hits Damien  with a running  shoulder block, but Damien was eventually able to hit a dropkick  to the mush. He then whips Stevens into the ropes and performs  a back body drop.  This sends Chris to the outside. Now when Stevens  returned to the ring, he made  Steele drop his guard. He extended  his hand out to shake Damien’s hand, then he  kicks him in the  gut. Stevens then starts chop Steele in the corner and started  to  work on Steele’s arm. Chris hits Damien with a single arm DDT,  the move that  dislocated Foxx’s shoulder. He then traps Steele’s  arm behind Steele’s back and  hits a arm trap slam. After hitting  a belly to back suplex, Chris locks in a  standing armbar. Steele  is able to reverse a suplex into a schoolboy, but could  only get  a two. He is then met by a huge clothesline by Chris, and eventually  Chris goes back to work on the arm with another standing armbar.  Steele gets  whipped into the ropes, but ducks the clothesline  and hits a running forearm on  Stevens. But Damien’s momentum  didn’t last long as Chris nailed another  clothesline. Later  Stevens whips Steele into the ropes and hits a spinebuster  then  he locks Steele into a hammerlock/armbar combo. Damien eventually  regains  the advantage as he hits a short arm clothesline. Later  he hits a northern  lights suplex and goes to the top rope. He  waits for Chris to get up and turn  around. Stevens does and is  met by a missile dropkick by Steele. Damien goes for  the pinfall,  but Chris puts his foot on the rope. Stevens is able reverse  Steele’s  whip into the corner. Damien though jumped onto middle turnbuckle,  ready to hits Chris with a move from there. But Stevens thought  fast and drove  Steele to the mat with what can be called a modified  schoolboy. Chris, with the  help of the ropes was able to get the  3 count. Winner in 16:10 Chris Stevens.
The next match saw  the tag champs, Erik Watts and John Bogie take on Bio  Hazard and  Mean Mike Stratus. This was a non title match. The match was going  to  start off with John and Mike, but Mike said that he wanted  Erik. So Watts was  tagged in. Erik started the action off with  a kick to the gut and then bounced  Mike’s head off two different  turnbuckles. Watts whips Stratus into the corner  and hits a hiptoss.  Biohazard is tagged into the match and he locks in a  hammerlock.  But Erik is able to get out of that with a fireman’s carry.  Biohazard  fights back with a running forearm, but Watts’ hits a hiptoss.  After a  slam by Erik, John is tagged into the match. The champions  whip Biohazard into  the ropes and hits a double team suplex. Biohazard  is eventually able to reverse  Bogie’s irish whip and Stratus  hits him in the back. Biohazard then hits John  with a hangman’s  neckbreaker. Bogie surprises Biohazard with a sunset flip, but  couldn’t  get the 3 count. Both wrestlers tagged in their partners. Erik hits  Mike a few times and tags John back in. Stratus is whipped into  the ropes. He  ducks John’s clothesline, but is met by Erik’s.  Eventually Stratus is able to  reverse an irish whip and hit a  clothesline. Then he nails John with a swinging  neckbreaker. Stratus  then causes Watts to come into the ring and while referee  Steve  Miller was busy with Watts, Biohazard came in illegally. He hits  John with  a snap mare from the second rope and starts to work  on John’s neck with a neck  wrench. After driving Bogie’s face  into his knee, Biohazard tags Stratus into  the match. They whip  John into the ropes, and Mike performs a drop toe hold.  Biohazard  then hits a legdrop, then Stratus gets up and hits a leg drop of  his  own. Later Mike nails John with a superkick and tags in Biohazard,  who starts to  beat John down in Biohazard’s corner. But Bogie  is able to get away and tag in  Watts. Erik starts to punch Biohazard  and Biohazard eventually makes the tag to  Mike. Watts clotheslines  both men and eventually nails Stratus with a chokeslam.  He then  tags in John who goes to the top rope and hits the moonsault for  a 3  count. Winners in 9:22 Erik Watts and John Bogie
The  main event was the first match in a best of 3 series between AJ  Steele  and the GCW heavyweight champion David Young, who was accompanied  to the ring by  Greg Brown. For Steele to get a shot against Young  for the belt, he must win  this best of 3 series. AJ tries to get  the early pinfalls with a quick schoolboy  and a quick sunset,  but can only get a one count. The both wrestlers start to  exchange  pinfall attempts until Steele is finally able to get in a dropkick  after both wrestlers got to their feet. AJ starts to work on David’s  arm. With  an armwringer, he forces Young to the mat, then hits  a legdrop on the arm. AJ  then starts driving his knees into David’s  arm and then locks in an armbar.  Later he whips Young into the  ropes and hits spinning sidewalk slam. AJ hits  David with some  chops in the corner and whips him into a corner. But as Steele  charged  in Young met him with a boot to the face. Then David nails AJ with  a  clothesline and locks in a chinlock. A short time later Young  hits a running  knee to the gut and hits a snap suplex. Short time  later David hits AJ with a  double leg slam. Later Young goes to  the top rope to go for a moonsault, but  Steele rolls out of the  way. AJ tries to roll up David for the victory, but  David reverse  the roll up into a roll up of his own and gets the 3 count. Winner  in 8:47 David Young.

NWA-IWA  MID-SOUTH
The Edge of Insanity
Friday, January 20, 2006
Capital  Sports Center (1915 Gladden Road) in Plainfield

In  the opening  contest, Eddie Kingston defeated Hillbilly Jed. Kingston  controlled much of the  match, and anytime Jed would try to mount  some offense, Kingston would pull  something out of his bag of  dirty tricks. Late in the match, Jed caught a  charging Kingston  with a boot to the face and followed it up with a swanton  bomb.  Jed went for a twisting splash from the second turnbuckle, but Kingston  moved, and Kingston was able to capitalize with a series of mafia  kicks and a  short arm lariat to pick up the pinfall victory.

Chandler  McClure  defeated The Indiana Kidd with a stunner variation that  saw Kidd belly-to-belly  with is legs wrapped around McClure as  McClure dropped down.

Arik Cannon  defeated B.J. Whitmer  in a close, hard-hitting match. The matched started with a  series  of comedy spots involving Cannon, Whitmer, and referee Bryce Remsburg  before Whitmer took control. In the end, Whitmer perched Cannon  on the top and  executed a superplex. However, Cannon was able  to hook Whitmer’s legs with his  own and got his shoulder off  the mat to score the pin and the victory.

In a fast paced  encounter, Matt Sydal retained the NWA Midwest  X-Division Championship  over Billy Roc. After trading some holds, Roc caught  Sydal on  the top rope with a drop kick, crotching Sydal on the top rope and  sending him to the floor. After trading chops on the floor, Sydal  was able to  connect with a running shinning wizard on Roc in the  corner and followed it up  with a second rope leg drop. Sydal then  tried to finish Roc with a series of  submission holds, trying  to ground Roc by focusing on Roc’s legs. Roc tried to  battle  back, floating over into a DDT, but only scoring a 2 count. Sydal  started  showing frustration in trying to put Roc away after only  getting a 2 count  following a pump-handle in a Michinoku driver.  Roc would rally the crowd behind  him and hit Sydal with a flying  elbow, and Roc went to top rope for his patented  frog splash.  However, Sydal got his knees up and rolled into a cover, but only  got another 2 count. Sydal finally scored the pinfall with a standing  shooting-star press.

Delirious, in his usual fashion,  defeated C.J.  Otis. Delirious went for his trademark top rope  splash, but Otis caught him and  turned it into a sit down powerbomb.  Otis looked to put Delirious away with a  second turnbuckle piledriver,  but Delirious floated over into a sunset flip,  only getting a  two count. Otis would hit Delirious with a spear and went for the  burning hammer, but Delirious again floated over for another two  count. Otis  looked to hit another spear on Delirious in the corner,  but Delirious avoided it  and rolled over Otis to finally get the  three count.

Prior to  intermission, Ian announced that  IWA Mid-South would return to Plainfield on  Friday, February 17th  for Hardcore Hell and Back. At this show, tickets for the  2006  King of the Death Matches, scheduled for June 2nd and 3rd in Plainfield,  would go on sale.

Back from intermission, Darin Corbin  took on the man  from Stone Mountain, GA … Nate “The Snake”  Roberts (Spyder Nate Webb doing his  best Jake Roberts impression,  complete with sack over his shoulder). With Corbin  leery of the  ominous sack in the corner, Nate had control of the match early  until Corbin forgot about the sack and took control. Nate would  attempt the DDT,  but Corbin got the referee distracted and hit  a low blow on Nate. Corbin then  went for the Rude awakening, but  Nate reversed it into a clothesline and then  hit the DDT to pick  up the win. After the match, Nate went to dump the contents  of  the sack on Corbin, but Corbin scrambled away, falling over a chair  on his  way out of the gym.

The Iron Saints (Vito & Sal Thomaselli) retained  their IWA Tag Team Championship by defeating  The Soul Shooters (Apollo Star & Drew Johnson). The Soul Shooters  isolated Sal early in the match, and  while Vito gave the Saints  a momentary advantage, the Soul Shooters continued to  work on  Sal. The Saints would take over control when Sal hit a Death Valley  driver shoulder breaker on Star. The Saints continued to work  over Star, but a  hot tag to Johnson gave the South Shooters the  momentum, and a diving head butt  by Vito saved the titles when  Johnson appeared to have Sal pinned. However, a  super kick by  Sal into a German suplex by Vito sent Johnson to the outside. This  left Star in prime position for Vito to hit a spinbuster, followed  by a swanton  bomb by Sal using Vito for leverage, allowing the  Saints to score the pin and  retain their titles.

Up next  was the tag team scramble match for the NWA  Midwest Tag Team Championship.  The rules of this match were that two teams  started and after  five minutes, another team would enter. Then, every three  minutes,  another team would enter, and if at any point one member of a team  lost  a fall, that team would be eliminated.

The first  two teams in the match  were the NWA Midwest Tag Team Champions  The Black & The Brave (Tyler Black & Marek Brave) and  Irish Airborne (Crazy J & Lotus). Black and Brave  sent both  Crazy J and Lotus to the floor, but failed to capitalize when Brave  missed an Asai moonsault and Black missed a twisting dive to the  floor. This  allowed Irish Airborne to take the advantage, concentrating  on the weakened knee  of Brave.

The team of Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli entered the  match and sent Brave, Crazy  J, and Black to the floor. With Lotus down on the  mat, Hero would  monkey flip Castagnoli, sending him flying onto Lotus, allowing  Castagnoli to pin Lotus and eliminate Irish Airborne.

As  Hero and  Castagnoli turned their attention to Black and Brave,  the Tough Crazy Bastards  (The Necro Butcher & “Mr. Insanity”  Toby Klein) entered the match. Hero and  Castagnoli wanted no part  of Necro and Klein and the cleared the ring in a  hurry. Klein  started brawling on the outside with Hero while Necro slammed Black  with a chair on the outside. With Brave still hobbled on the outside,  Klein  turned his attention to the Black in the ring as Necro went  looking for Hero and  Castagnoli, who had hidden themselves behind  the curtain. When Castagnoli  revealed himself, Necro was there  to meet him with a trash can.

The team  of Brain Damage & Deranged entered the match and immediately went after  Necro  and Klein looking to avenge their loss to the Bastards last month.  As  Necro and Brain Damage battled in the ring and Klein and Deranged  brawled on the  floor, Black, Brave, Hero, and Castagnoli kept  their distance, catching a  breather on the outside. Anticipating  that the action may spill towards them,  Black and Brave each grabbed  a steel chair, but they were jumped from behind by  Hero and Castagnoli.  Using the bleachers, Hero and Castagnoli continued to work  over  Brave’s injured leg, and also decided to go to work on Black’s  leg.

21 & Irresponsible (Brandon Thomaselli & Josh Abercrombie)  entered the match, and were immediately approached  by Hero and Castagnoli to  form an alliance, which Thomaselli and  Abercrombie accepted despite the  objections of their corner man,  Eddie Kingston. Meanwhile, Necro and Derange  were having a stiffing  duel in the ring, which Necro won with a big right cross.  The  action between Necro, Klein, Brain Damage, and Deranged spilled  back to the  outside, where Necro and Klein came across the beaten  Black and Brave. Necro  gave Brave some free shots before showing  Brave how it’s really done, while  Klein stuffed Black into a  trash can. Meanwhile, Hero and Castagnoli tried to  form another  alliance with Brain Damage and Deranged, but they would have none  of that and stared going to work on Hero and Castagnoli.

Necro  and Black  found their back to the ring, and Thomaselli and Abercrombie  were ushered back  to the ring as well. Hero jumped Necro from  behind, sending him into Brain  Damage and Deranged on the ring  apron, and they suplexed Necro to the floor,  taking him out of  the equation. As Hero and Castagnoli continued to avoid the  action,  Thomaselli and Abercrombie continued the assault on the weakened  Black  and Brave on the outside. In the ring, Klein hit a plancha  on Brain Damage and  Derange on the outside. Klein would then reverse  a pump-handle attempt by  Deranged into a Death Valley driver onto  a chair and score the pin, eliminating  Brain Damage and Deranged.

Taking advantage of situation, Hero attacked  Klein and  got the pin with a back slide and his feet on the ropes, eliminating  the Tough Crazy Bastards.

Thomaselli and Abercrombie shoved  Brave into  the ring, essentially making the match a 4-on-2 with  Black and Brave at the  disadvantage. The four heels isolated Brave  from his partner and continued to  assault his wounded leg. Out  of nowhere, Brave was able to pull Abercrombie into  an inside  cradle and scored the pinfall, eliminating 21 & Irresponsible.

Hero then hit the ring and tried to pick up where Abercrombie  had  failed. Brave tried the inside cradle again as Black chased  off 21 & Irresponsible with a chair, but Brave could get a  two count. Hero and Castagnoli  would again try to isolate Brave,  but a sudden spear allowed Brave to make the  hot tag to Black,  who cleaned house, including a rolling stunner on Castagnoli.  Hero  and Castagnoli would hit the monkey flip splash, this time on Brave,  but  Brave kicked out just short of three. In the end, Castagnoli  would accidently  hit Hero when Brave moved out of the way, and  as Black dragged Hero to the  outside, Brave hit a back ensiguri  on Castagnoli and get the pin to retain the  tag team titles. This  was a hot match with a lot of great action, easily the  match of  the night.

The first of the double main event was the highly  anticipated Barbed Wire Board, Razorblade Board Death Match between  Brandon  Prophet and Corporal Robinson. Prophet was able to get  some open shots in to  Robinson’s head, but Robinson then returned  the shots in kind. Prophet was the  first to taste the barbed wire  when Robinson rubbed Prophet’s head in the wire,  and followed  that up with a steel chair to Prophet’s head. This time it was  Prophet who would return the favor by suplexing Robinson through  a set of chairs  that Robinson had set up on the outside.

Back  in the ring, Prophet  suplexed Robinson onto the barbed wire and  then rubbed Robinson’s head in the  wire. Prophet then tried  to rub Robinson’s head on the razor blades, but  Robinson was  able to keep his head free of the blades. After Robinson gave  Prophet  a northern lights suplex onto the barbed wire, Prophet would give  Robinson a spinbuster onto the razor blades. Prophet came very  close to feeling  the razor blades himself after a super kick by  Robinson sent Prophet dangerously  close to the blades.

The  match spilled to the outside and after taking  down Prophet, Robinson  bridged the razor blade board across four chairs on the  floor.  As Robinson went to retrieve Prophet, Prophet battled back and looked  to  put Robinson away as he climbed to the top rope. However, Robinson  caught  Prophet and sent Prophet sailing from the top rope through  the razor blade board  on the floor. Finally, Robinson locking  a choke on the floor and forced Prophet  to tap out. Prophet received  a standing ovation for his efforts during the  match.

The  second main event was the steel cage match between Jimmy  Jacobs  and Bull Pain. Bull was accompanied by Jim Fannin, who said that  if he  got his hands on Jacobs, he would throw Jacobs around like  a rag doll. As would  be expected, Jacobs was hesitant to enter  the cage, and as Jacobs stared at Bull  through the cage door,  Fannin locked Jacobs in a full nelson. This allowed Bull  to come  out and pound on Jacobs. Both Fannin and Bull brutalized Jacobs  on the  floor, using the metal bat wrapped in barbed wire on Jacobs’  head, back,  stomach, and groin. After Fannin fulfilled his promise  by throwing Jacobs across  a row of chairs, Bull wrapped a steel  chair around Jacobs’ ankle and stomped the  chair.

Eventually,  Jacobs was thrown into the cage and the bell rang to  officially  start the match. Jacobs kicked the door into Bull to try and keep  him  out of the ring, but it was all in vain. After hitting a contra  code on Bull,  Jacobs tried to leave the ring, but Fannin and the  barbed wire metal bat kept  Jacobs in the ring. Jacobs then tried  to beat down Bull with a chair, using it  to choke Bull, and then  raked Bull’s head across the cage. After Bull asked  Jacobs if  that was he had, Jacobs hit a low blow and tried a hurricanrana,  but  Bull caught Jacobs and drove Jacobs into the cage three times  before power  bombing him. At this point, Fannin threw the bat  in the ring and locked the cage  door. Bull again used the bat  to hit Jacobs in the back and groin and then  dropped a leg across  Jacobs’ throat with the bat across Jacobs’ throat.

After  a sickening chair shot to Jacobs’ head, Bull went for a pin, but  to everyone’s surprise, Jacobs broke up the pin by reaching  the ropes. Bull the  hit Jacobs with a side piledriver on a steel  chair, but Jacobs again reached the  ropes. As Fannin and Bull  told the referee to forget that he saw the foot on the  ropes,  Bull went for another pin, but Jacobs again put his foot on the  ropes.  Since the referee insisted on enforcing the rules instead  of ignoring Jacobs’  foot on the ropes, Bull nailed the referee  with the barbed wire bat. Meanwhile,  Jacobs found his way to the  other side of the ring and was able to climb up and  out of the  cage, thus winning the match, before Bull realized what had happened.  With Jacobs on the floor, Fannin went after Jacobs with a chair,  but Jacobs  caught Fannin with a low blow and escaped. Still angry  at the referee, Bull  wrapped a chair around the referee’s ankle  and hit the chair with the bat, as  the referee screamed in pain.

SHOW NEWS & NOTES
Pro Wrestling Express drew a great and loud  crowd to the Palisades  for the inaugural Iron City Classic Tag Team Tournament.   This  show was being billed as the first super-show in Pittsburgh in 2006,  and it  lived up to they hype as the largest crowd to see a pro  wrestling show at the  Palisades in recent memory saw a great night  of tag team action from a promotion  with one of the deepest tag  team divisions in the United States.
The opening of the first round of the  eight-team  tournament saw Devin Devine & Chris Taylor from 987 pull out  a  big win over Section 8 Mafia.  Section 8 Mafia had wrestled  in a few matches for  the promotion in 2005, and was looking to  impress enough to make the full time  roster - no small feat in  a thriving tag team division.  Devine & Taylor  were one  of the favorites heading into this tournament, and they wrestled  like  it, controlling the pace of the match, and isolating Brandon  X from his partner  the Bouncer.  X was obviously dazed, but finally  fought thru the barrage  and made the tag to Bouncer, who cleaned  house.  Bouncer had Devine up in a  fireman's carry, but Devine  wiggled out and pushed the big man into a waiting  Taylor who,  looked to have caught him with a foreign object.  As Bouncer  staggered  back Devine rolled him up, and insured a victory by grabbing  a  fistful of tights.  Section 8 looked very good here, and the  loss left a very  bad taste in their mouth - a return seeking revenge  against 987 may very well be  in their future.
BC Steele hit the ring next, accompanied  by  members of 987. Steele said that the honorable Scott Venom  couldn't make it to  the show tonight, because he was on a big  recruiting trip for 987 in Ohio.   Steele said that he was in  charge though, because he had been hired by Mr. Venom  as 987's  Executive Personnel Manager. Steele stated that Venom had recruited  a  major weapon for 987, who would take his spot in the six man  tag team match
