BILL BEHRENS NWA NOTES for 4-21-08

NWA ANARCHY TV TAPING REPORT for 4-19-08 by LARRY GOODMAN

April 19, 2008

Last night’s NWA Anarchy television taping in Cornelia, Ga at the NWA Arena was headlined by two rematches from Hardcore Hell, both more than worth revisiting. Combo that with a three way that revitalized the TV title situation, and you've got yourself a great show. All three finishes produced major springboards for future developments.

It’s rare in today’s pro wrestling when a total unknown can come in and make a major impact, but that’s precisely what happened at the conclusion of the Iceberg/Shatter main event.

Attendance was 190. Incredibly hot at times. There have, however, been many nights that had more consistent heat throughout. Especially during the second half, where despite good to excellent matches, only the Mikal Judas match had strong heat. The length (3 hours) may have been a factor. The kids club is pure genius, but they really need to get it started before bell time.

NWA Anarchy Jerry Palmer brought Laura Jones into the ring. Jones is the ex-wife of the man that had the seizure two weeks ago and also happens to be the morning radio personality on WCON in Cornelia. She read a letter of appreciation to the staff and fans of Anarchy. Palmer said he was ashamed of something. Out came Chad Parham. Palmer didn't spell it out, but he had legit heat with Parham for his actions during the seizure incident. Parham claimed not to know what Palmer was talking about. Palmer got in Parham’s face loud and clear.

If you ever disrespect a fan again, I will come up with something that the commission will have to invent regulations for.

(1) Chad Parham beat Bo Newsom in 4:28. Newsom got a pop. He’s a teenager from nearby Clarkesville, who developed a following at APW. Parham manhandled the kid. Newsom surprised Parham with a flatliner and tried for his corkscrew moonsault finisher. That wasn’t happening. Parham pinned him after a jumping piledriver.

After the match, Parham made a point of walking over to Jones, who was sitting in the first row, and then high-fived color commentator John Johnson on his way out.

(2) New Wave (Derrick Driver & Stephen Walters) beat Talent & Money (J. T. Talent & Andrew Pendleton III) in 6:05. T & M are still getting a pop. I think that’s mostly for Talent. Walters tried to get the Wave going again. Give it up. PLEASE. New Wave busted out some flashy double teams on Pendleton. The heels took over after Talent interfered with a hotshot on Walters. There was a nice, logical spot where Walters did a huracanrana and used the momentum to try for a tag. No go. Talent hit a springboard downward spiral for a near fall. He’s gotten himself in better shape. Crowd chanted for Walters, and he obliged with a tornado DDT to lead into the hot tag. A Driver dropkick precipitated a collision of heels. Driver rolled up Talent, but Pendleton kicked him in the face. Walters then smoked Pendleton with a DDT on the apron, while Driver pinned Talent.

(3) T. K. Kross beat Melissa Coates (with Brodie Chase) in 3:42 to distraction by Don Matthews. Anarchy’s middle-aged crazy couple has a new ring entrance that really works. Coates knows how to strike a pose, so it plays completely to her strengths. Match was fine for what it was. Coates’ offense looked good here. The only problem was the trouble she was having with her top, which could barely keep those treasures hidden. Matthews came out to deck Chase. Coates screamed at Matthews and got rolled up by Kross.

Postmatch, Matthews was fixing to spank Melissa’s sweet ass, but Chase pulled her to safety. Matthews unloaded his frustrations on Kross with a wicked lariat.

(4) Wild Bunch (Billy Buck & Chris King) beat Devil’s Rejects (Azrael & Shaun Tempers with the Reverend) via DQ in 8:02. Rejects retain the NWA Anarchy Tag Team Titles. Rejects attacked before the bell. They beat the hell out of Buck, but he fought his way out of the Rejects corner for a tag. Wild Bunch cleared the ring and Rejects were forced to regroup. Azrael distracted referee D. L. Norris, so Tempers could ambush King. Rejects got major heat on King. Azrael hit an awesome running knee here. Crowd wasn’t wild about getting behind King. King escaped from the Ted Bundy (the finisher Matt Morgan stole secondhand) and got the tag. Buck was doing a number on Tempers when Azrael nailed him with the good reverend’s staff. Rejects doubled up on Buck until King hit the ring swinging a chair. Nothing wrong with the match. It just feels like the crowd isn’t seeing Wild Bunch as legit contenders.

G-Rated Guys That Totally Rule appeared in a backstage vignette on the WrestleVision. Rinauro apologized for hitting Delay last time. He won his partner over with humor. Rinauro said he had a gift for Delay, which turned out to be a Consequences Creed Afro wig. “Let’s do it, tiger!”

As Rinauro and Delay waited for their opponents to enter the ring, Delay clean knocked Rinauro out with a set of knucks. Delay pulled out scissors and it got a pop. Delay cut Rinauro’s locks, enough so he's definitely needing a change of hairstyle. Needless to say, not the desired reaction. The fans stuck with the hometown guy, the one whose thingyy attitude comes across more good natured.

(5) Nemesis (with Jay Fury) pinned Slim J (with Shadow Jackson) with the Gallows Bomb in 4:59. Heat through the roof for this match. They went nose to nose before the bell. Nemesis tried to wrestle. That was a mistake. Fury’s interference allowed Nemesis to turn J’s slingshot into a powerslam. Nemesis momentarily knocked J out legit with a crossface forearm. Crowd was crazy for Slim to make the comeback. Nemesis went for a senton backsplash but no water in the pool. Fury clubbed Jackson. J had Nemesis up for Anger Management when he saw that Jackson was about get whacked with a chiar. J grabbed the chair. Nemesis capitalized with a cool flippy facebuster for the pin. Love that name.

Fury chopped the bejeezus out of J and made a move to hang him with the noose. Jackson confronted Fury. Fury shoved the ref into Jackson and the Gorillas bailed. Jackson asked the crowd if they wanted to see a tag match the next time and see those Koncrete Gorillas bleed. That would be a yes. The Gorillas insist on entering and exiting through the front door. The heat for their exit was close to out of control.

Intermission.

(6) Hollywood Brunettes (Andrew Alexander & Kyle Matthews) beat Adrian Hawkins & Chip Day in 7:23. Day was doing a lot of aerial stuff, but the fans didn’t seem to care. Alexander clipped Day’s knee and went to work on it. Hawkins entered with a top rope back elbow and then a springboard back elbow. He had the fiery facial expressions but still not much reaction. Finish saw Hawkins go for the Extreme Makeover (Unprettier) on Alexander, but Matthews initiated a babyface collision, and Alexander pinned Hawkins. Hawkins was pissed. Wes Grissom came out. Hawkins walked off. In a promotion where almost everything works, it stands out more when something does not. Hawkins and Day weren’t over a lick. So if this was a split that may be a good thing. Problem was the people didn’t care about Day and Grissom either.

Ace Rockwell addressed his future in a revealing sitdown interview conducted by Greg Hunter. Rockwell said he wasn’t 100% when he lost the Anarchy heavyweight title to Chad Parham last year, but he was making no excuses. Rockwell admitted that since recovering from the knee injury, he had been only an occasional performer. Rockwell admitted that his personal life had been a mess. Rockwell said he felt like it was his night against Shatter. He was ready to come back, but he wasn’t the kind of guy to take somebody else’s spot. Then, two weeks he ago got put in a six man and lost to Todd Sexton. “I should have beaten a guy like that.” Rockwell said he was coming back for his belt.

(7) The Technicians (Todd Sexton & Bob E & Tyler Smith) beat Jay Clinton & Yoshi Hiroshima & Jon Davis in 4:15. Sexton addressed Rockwell’s comments by saying he wasn’t the one that lost his smile and went home. Bob E and Smith have improved to where they look like an Anarchy level tag team. The jobbers got some heat on Bob E. Smith and Bob E hit the Hart Attack on Clinton. Sexton finished him off with a hammerlock lariat.

(8) Mikal Judas beat Mr. Adonis via DQ in 5:13. Jeremy Vain was supposed to be barred from ringside. He blew off the refs, but that huge security guy came out and Vain decided to go quietly. Funny stuff from Vain. Adonis hit an exploder suplex and took over with karate thrusts. Crowd came alive huge for Judas. Adonis went for a claw. Judas seized the claw hand and destroyed it. Adonis was selling the hand like it was a dead meat. Adonis tried a punch with the bad hand. Old habits die hard, I guess. Judas gave Adonis a lariat over the top. It looked pretty spectacular. Judas was pounding Judas by the rail when Vain threw some kind of red liquid into his face for the DQ. Short but very good. Adonis has clearly elevated his game, although working with Judas will make just about anybody look stellar. TNA would be stupid not to sign him (see below).

Inside the ring, Adonis hit his twisting brianbuster finisher. Just like last time, Vain talked crap and smacked Judas, and Judas sat up and goozled him. This time, Adonis intervened with another brainbuster. Vain covered Judas and Adonis made the three count. The refs finally brought the hijinx to a stop. The lights went out so Judas could do his disappearing act.

(9) Hayden Young beat Consequences Creed and Jeff Lewis in a triple threat match to determine the number one contender for the NWA Anarchy Television Title (9:11). Creed came out wearing the Afro wig over his Afro, which had everybody cracking up. The TV champ, Truitt Fields came out do to color commentary. The fans popped for him, but not like they do when he’s out there nearly naked. Lewis got smart –mouthed, so Young and Creed pounded on him. Lewis ended up on the outside licking his wounds, and let Creed and Young go at it. Lewis slyly waited for the opportune moment to reenter. They did a three-way spot where Creed hit a sunset flip on Lewis, who simultaneously hit a german suplex on Young. Later, Young blocked Creed’s german off the top, and Lewis hit the german with Young landing on top of Creed. Lewis and Creed had midair collision of high crossbodys. Young went for the Flying Squirrel, and they both rolled out of the way. Finish saw Creed go for the Montefisto. Young ducked and it connected on Lewis. Young hit an enzuigiri on Creed and covered Lewis for the pin. They made a big deal out of Fields raising Young's hand.

This was my favorite match of the night. Suberb athleticism for sure, but each guy with a clearly defined role, played out in a way where everyone comes out looking strong. That is tricky business in any three-way, let alone with two faces and one heel.

(10) Shatter (with Jeff G. Bailey) beat Iceberg (with The Reverend) via DQ in 8:20 when Devil’s Rejects interfered. Iceberg retains the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Title. Shatter attacked before Iceberg could get in the ring. Awesome intensity. Shatter screamed “you did this!” in reference to his scarred forehead. Iceberg upended Shatter as he stood on second rope, and the Universal Soldier took one of his take-no-prisoners bumps. From there it was two monsters trading stiff shots. Iceberg took a flat back bump on Shatter’s lariat. Iceberg hit a back suplex on Shatter and bit his face. Iceberg clubbed Shatter with a lariat. Berg dropped an elbow and Shatter got a foot over the ropes. Shatter was trying to hang on. Iceberg hit a classic gordbuster and a belly to belly for near falls. Shatter caught a charging Iceberg with powerslam. Whoa. Shatter hit a top rope elbow. Iceberg barely rolled a shoulder at 2 ¾. Shatter’s spear attempt ran smack into Iceberg’s knee. Iceberg came off the second rope and Shatter turned it into a short powerbomb. The other Rejects attacked for the DQ.

A mysterious hooded figure entered the ring - bare feet, all tatted up and jacked to the max - Spinning backfist on Tempers, kick to the face for Azrael and a Samoan drop on Iceberg. All three Rejects laid out. The hood came off to reveal a maniacal individual of Polynesian or Asian descent, sorta like Jimmy Snuka without the hair. Bailey was licking his chops over him.

NOTES: TNA officials were said to be very impressed by Mikal Judas during his recent tryout…The guests for the pre-show Kids Corner Club were Rinauro and Rockwell. There were 20 kids at ringside…Matches announced for Anarchy’s next show on 5/3: Fields vs. Young for the TV Title and J & Jackson vs. Nemesis & Fury…Palmer put the APW Spring Bash Break show over strong in his opening remarks…The seizure incident at the previous show was more serious than it appeared. The man had wad of chewing tobacco in his mouth that could have blocked his airway if not for quick life support intervention by Palmer…Azrael had significant swelling around the eye from the kick he received from the mysterious newcomer…The Hardcore Hell ’08 DVD is now on sale. I highly recommend it.

NWA Anarchy TV Repor by Ca$hFlowX

Episode 113

April 14, 2008

WRESTLING: (n.) ’res-ling A sport of contest in which two individuals face off in unarmed combat.

ANARCHY: (n.) an-ar-key (1) A state of lawlessness due to absence of authority. (2) A complete lack of order.

What happens when you mix the two together? NWA-Anarchy!

- Welcome to NWA Anarchy Wrestling, this is PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING~! Last week on Anarchy, Nemesis distracted Jerry Palmer long enough for Jeremy Vain & Mr. Rob Adonis to launch a methodical beatdown of NWA Anarchy Owner Jerry Palmer. They beat Palmer so bad that he bled hard way from his dome. Wes Grissom had Todd Sexton beat, but the referee was the only one in the building who saw otherwise. In a match with a less than controversial finish, Mikal Judas obliterated Dominous. Finally, Iceberg led the Devil’s Rejects to a victory over the Awesome Attraction & Truitt Fields by squashing Hayden Young. This week, NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Champion Phil Shatter defends against Ace Rockwell.

1. Adrian Hawkins pinned Amien Rios.

Rios skips the opening festivities by launching a premeditated assault, but Hawkins quickly counters by focusing his attack on his opponent’s arm. After weirdly timed commercial, Hawkins clotheslines and back elbows Rios. Rios regains the advantage by blocking a suplex and executes a facebuster for a near fall. Rios sits Hawkins on the top turnbuckle, but Hawkins has other ideas and loses grip on a Sunset Bomb. That’s alright for Hawkins because he puts away Rios with the Extreme Makeover.

COMMENTS: The match was fine, but the crowd just wasn’t into the action.

2. The Regular Guys (Bobby Hill & Tyler Smith) defeated the Anger Alliance (Brody Ray Chase & Don Matthews)

Matthews tires of the Regular Guys antics and performs facial reconstructive surgery upon Hill via BFK. Smith tags in and the Regular Guys block a double coconut. They repay Chase with a mat smash. After commercial, Hill rolls to the floor after Matthews kicks his back. Matthews turns around and lo and behold, look who is at ringside? Melissa Coates! Matthews goes googly moogly at the sight of Coates like a three year old slobbering for candy. Matthews seeks to impress his love with a thunderous chop. Matthews tosses Hill back in and returns to the ring apron. Chase performs copyright infringement with the Fargo Strut and Ric Flair kneedrop for a two count. AA attack Hill with a drop toe hold/senton combo. Matthews makes a cover while continuing to slobber for Coates. Matthews hits a full nelson uranage on Hill. Hill connects with a bulldog on Chase to buy himself town. The crowd rallies behind the Guys and Smith receives the hot tag. He cleans house. Chase connects with a belly to back suplex. Hill mounts the top rope and Chase easily cuts him off. Matthews lures Coates to the ring apron and turns his back to the action. Chase holds Smith, but Matthews’ back is turned. Well, I think Coates has had enough of Matthews’ jawjacking. Guess what? She has. Coates slaps the taste of Matthews’ mouth. Smith forces Chase to collide with Matthews and he rolls up the Stray Cat for the victory. Poor Don Matthews, he received a tongue thrashing from Coates and Chase.

COMMENTS: This match was better than the opener, but lacked the oomph to make it memorable.

- Nemesis confronts Greg Hunter about finally letting him into his jungle. He calls out for his opponent and the lights go out. Slim J sneaks up from behind and jackhammers the Concrete Gorilla. J clocks a security guard and wipes out Nemesis and security with death defying antics. J continues to embarrass Nemesis until Bill Behrens is forced to intervene. This segment had insane heat.

3. “Brokeback” Billy Buck & Chris King defeated the Brokeback Brunettes (Andrew Alexander & Kyle Matthews)

This starts out with a Brunettes favorite Brokeback Mountain impersonation. As punishment, they will be referred to as the Brokeback Brunettes for one week. King crash and burns on a slingshot plancha attempt on the Brunettes. King crashed so hard that the hard cam vibrated. Ouch! King outsmarts the Brunettes and makes the tag to Buck. Buck lands several bionic style elbows and cleans house. Buck is showing fire here. Buck catches Matthews with a stiff spinebuster for a two count. Unfortunately for Buck, he’s prepared to fall victim to the Sheeney Curse… BUT! Talent & Money attack Buck and causes the Brokeback Brunettes to lose via disqualification. What not a very nice persons! T & M and the Brunettes team up to attack Buck & King, but the New Wave makes the save. When T & M and Brunettes head to ringside, they continue to argue. This is strange indeed.

COMMENTS: This match was alright, but the postmatch made up for it. Buck was showing fire tonight.

4. Phil Shatter w/Jeff G Bailey pinned Ace Rockwell to retain the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Title.

Rockwell is still popular despite missing several months of action. It just goes to show you just how good he is. Shatter is a monster continuing his tour of defeating former NWA Anarchy Heavyweight champions. Rockwell launches an all out assault on Shatter. Rockwell delivers a pair of clothesline and finally sends him flying to the floor on the third one. Shatter plays Dr. Stud believing he has outsmarted Rockwell, but the Seven Figured Deal nails him with a rana from the apron. An incensed Shatter initiates a lethal dosage of Paper Mache tossing. Rockwell attempts a Sunset flip, but Rockwell counters with a choke suplex. Impressive! Shatter turnbuckle whips and shatters Rockwell’s spine with a corner splash. Shatter starts to display extreme confidence over the fallen Rockwell with a slingshot suplex. Shatter dollies around, takes copious amounts of time to mount the top turnbuckle, argues with the fans and misses a top rope elbow drop. Now that is what you call a Crash and Burn. Bailey rallies Shatter to his feet, but Rockwell arises first. Rockwell fires away with punches, chops and kicks to the legs. Shatter blocks the Ace’s High and Rockwell feigns a knee injury. Lovely! Shatter smells blood and Rockwell lures him into a false sense of security with a rollup for a near fall. Shatter kills Rockwell. The crowd loudly chants “Ace”, but Shatter quiets everyone with a German suplex into a bridge for a near fall. Shatter sets Rockwell for a superplex, but Rockwell lands on a cross body for a 2¾ count. Bailey looks like he’s urinating in his pants. Rockwell fires way on Shatter and slips out a body slam. Shatter collapses like a Redwood tree with special thanks to a Rockwell lungblower. Bailey pulls of his shoe and mounts the apron. He accidentally nails Shatter. Rockwell mounts the top turnbuckle and nails a high cross bodyblock. The referee makes the count, but Shatter kicks out at 2 7/8. Great stuff! Shatter with a Russian legsweep. Rockwell catches Shatter on the middle rope and prepares for a super rana. Shatter catches Rockwell and ends it all with a Super PTSD. Game, set and match.

COMMENTS: This was a championship caliber PPV match between the proverbial underdog and undersized babyface vs. monster heel. Shatter continues to look impressive against wrestlers of varying styles and should replace Batista on Smackdown. Rockwell was superb coming back from a major injury. This had fantastic storytelling. It matches like this that makes me proud to be a professional wrestling fan.

- Afterwards, the Devil’s Rejects intro music plays and Iceberg accompanied by Dan Wilson confronts Shatter. The lights go out and come back on. Judas red mists Iceberg and chokeslams him. Judas turns to a stunned Shatter and delivers a chokeslam. Judas stands in the ring tall as we go off the air.

COMMENTS: The 35 minutes were passable and furthered several angles, but the last 15 were championship caliber.

NWA EAST/PWX REPORT

APRIL 18TH, 2008
OFFICIAL RESULTS

The night began on a high note and a low note. First
off, the manager of the Franchise Players, JC Slick
made his way to the ring with a very apparent change
in attitude. He announced that he was appointed to an
empty spot in the NWA East Championship Committee, and
that he wanted to be very fan-friendly. But he had the
unfortunate duty of informing the fans that NWA
Upstate talent Brodie Lee, Hellcat, and Jimmy Olsen
would be unable to appear, with the NWA Upstate
contingent giving no reason. He informed everybody
that the card needed to be slightly revamped due to
the no-shows. The main event would be chosen by the
fans, as they would vote for who would take on Scottie
Gash and Chris LeRusso!

This drew out the Franchise Players, who saw their
friend's newly-found place of power as a bargaining
tactic, attempting to get an NWA North American Title
shot. But Slick told them he wouldn't do them any
favors, and they promptly fired him.

"Syko" Sean Dahmer eliminated NWA East Three Rivers
Champion Dash Bennett in the Burgh Brawl battle royal
and earned himself a shot at the title as a result.
But he was attacked after being eliminated himself by
members of Team Bennett, Dash, Stacy Hunter, and
Bulldozer. Those members of Team Bennett accompanied
Dash in the title defense, while Dahmer's Straight
Jacket Mafia partner Apollyon was in his corner. The
match went well enough, with both men having an even
advantage. But with outside shenanigans as Team
Bennett and SJM brawled around, referee Cowboy Bill
Wright ruled the match a no-contest and turned it into
a tag team match.

Team Bennett focused on Dahmer's arm, bruising it
severely throughout the course of the match. But he
finally got himself a breather, tagging in the fresher
Apollyon. But the smaller Apollyon got taken out by
the much larger Bulldozer, taking a huge cannonball in
the corner. Dahmer came back in and had Dash up for
the Syko Driver 07 when Team Bennett member Bobby
Shields appeared at ringside, distracting the referee.
This allowed Stacy Hunter to slip in unseen,
delivering a low blow to Dahmer. Dash hit the Skull
Splitter for the win. Team Bennett attacked SJM, and
it took James Ross hitting the ring with a chair to
fend them off. Afterwards, Dahmer issued a challenge
to Dash for a rematch at May 3rd's In Harm's Way 2,
where both members of SJM would get a title shot if
they won. Dash responded, accepting only with the
stipulation that if Team Bennett wins, the Straight
Jacket Mafia will split up! Also, James Ross
challenged Bobby Shields to a match... later that
night!

While Sterling James Keenan was across the pond in
England, two of his trainees had big matches in NWA
East. "The Legacy" Samuel Elias took on Patrick Hayes.
Hayes was obviously distracted by members of the crowd
when Elias was able to roll him up for a big win. But
this was not the last we'd hear from Hayes that night.

The Franchise Players were able to somehow weasel
themselves into an NWA East Tag Team Title match with
Iron Justice. They seemed to be more focused in this
match than any previous effort of theirs. They had the
champs down and out, but Gregory Iron was able to
execute his Handicapped Parking finisher along with a
Matthew Justice springboard dropkick to score the win
and retain the titles.

As a result of the chaotic tag team match that opened
the night, "Division 1" James Ross took on Team
Bennett member Bobby Shields. The crowd was solidly
behind the hometown boy Ross, who picked up the
victory with a Red & Blue Scare.

After months of being attacked, called out, and
threatened, Pepper Parks was set to defend his NWA
National Heavyweight Title against his tormentor,
Crusher Hansen. Before the match, Hansen's manager &
NWA East ring announcer BC Steele announced the match
as a 2 out of 3 falls match, old-school NWA style.
Parks quickly picked up the win with a Pepper Shaker.
But Steele helped Hansen win the second fall with a
steel chain after Hansen accidentally took out referee
Tom Dunn. In the final fall, Parks went for the Pepper
Shaker again but Crusher caught him coming off the top
and delivered a Crusher Slam, winning the NWA National
Title and picking up possibly the biggest win of his
storied career.

Kid Cupid answered the NWA's open challenge to take on
the Wrong Crowd. This was his first assignment as a
manager, and he picked a young team to take on Curtis
Stevenson's team: another SJK trainee, Ashton Amhurst,
and coming wrestler from the Cleveland area, Bobby
Beverly. The young men were answering the NWA's open
challenge. Unfortunately for them, their opponents
were the veteran NWA North American Tag Team Champions
the Wrong Crowd. Atlas & BA were able to dispose of
the young wrestlers with relative ease. But the real
story is after the match, when the Franchise Players
hit the ring and brawled with the North American Tag
Champs. The Franchise Players showed showed they are
willing to step up and answer the open challenge, and
Atlas & BA finally have some competition whether they
like it or not!

"The Spotlight" Scottie Gash was out for his match
against the fans' choice. If he won and LeRusso lost,
he would get LeRusso's Burgh Brawl title shot. He was
informed he had 2 opponents that evening. The first
was somebody from Gash's past who has a huge win over
the former NWA East Heavyweight Champion... weighing
in at 112 kilos... from the Soviet Union...

THE BROOM! While it was obvious a certain group of
fans were trying to have some fun at Gash's expense,
he was enraged. He performed a suplex, a Gash2Sleep,
and a pounce on the broom before tossing it out of the
ring. When referee Tom Dunn started to count out the
broom, one of the fans on that side of the ring
playfully tossed it back in. Furious, Gash pinned the
broom quickly, just to spite the crowd. Then, he took
on his second opponent... KID CUPID! Cupid took the
fight to Gash, even hitting a huge splash in the
corner and his new finisher, the Pink Frosion. But
with Krystal Frost on the apron distracting the ref,
Gash fought out of Cupid's Stunner, low blowing him
and locking in the Spotlighter Crossface for the win.
Gash's actions after the match were reprehensible, as
he attacked the fan who threw the broom into the ring.

Chris LeRusso's opponent for the night, as chosen by
the fans, was none other than Stacy Hunter. While
LeRusso acknowledged that she had caused trouble for
he and his girlfriend Morgan Rockafeller in the past,
he couldn't fight a woman. He wanted a test, so he
said he'd take on the second place vote getter...
which ended up being the new NWA National Champion
Crusher Hansen. LeRusso offered that, since he was
putting his Burgh Brawl title shot on the line, that
Hansen should put his newly won National Title on the
line. Hansen agreed and the match was on! BC Steele
attempted to distract the referee while Scottie Gash
hit the ring. Gash went to take out LeRusso but hit
Hansen instead. As LeRusso hit his new neckbreaker
finisher and went for the pin, Steele attempted to hit
LeRusso to break up the pin. To say his attempts were
weak is an understatement, but they were illegal
interference so the referee called for the
disqualification. Gash and LeRusso had to be pulled
apart, as it's very obvious they haven't had enough of
each other!

NWA Wisconsin News

Standing room only, indeed. It was a very nice house
at Liquor Sweets in Milwaukee. Up by me in the
balcony, we had to re-arrange tables and chairs
(sorry, no ladders) to make room for all the kids that
wanted a night of ICW action...and they got it in
spades.

Michael Dakota (accompanied by NWA Midwest's own Ed
Chuman) hits the ring, and we're underway for Insane
Championship Wrestling's 4/20 Classic! (Or, "Night Of
A Thousand Belts." All kinds of gold displayed
tonight...makes you realize the scope of influence of
an NWA promotion.)

Sure was a little hazy, though.

MATCH 1: "Mr. Canada" JASON RILEY vs. BLAZING BENJAMIN

* Riley had himself a nice Toronto Maple Leafs
jersey...and that motherCanuckin' maple leaf flag.
* Benjamin wins by setting up Riley for a Death Valley
Driver, but spinning it into a neckbreaker and pinning
Riley.
* Then, Corporal Robinson (with 3 belts: Juggalo
Championsh*t Wrestling heavyweight, NWA Midwest tag,
and another one I don't know) hits the ring to
congratulate Benjamin and call out his tag team
partner (and fellow NWA Midwest tag champ) Hardcore
Craig. Each wants to know where the other's been;
Chuman takes the opportunity of having 'em both in the
same building to book a title defense against a
debuting tag team: Venom and Krush (formerly
SkullCrusher), The SkullCrushers.

MATCH 2: THE SKULLCRUSHERS vs. CORPORAL ROBINSON &
HARDCORE CRAIG (c) (NWA Midwest Tag Team Championship)

* Hardcore Craig turned on his partner and hit him
with an NWA Midwest tag title belt, and Venom gets the
pin.
* NEW NWA Midwest Tag Team champions: The
SkullCrushers.

MATCH 3: TROY WALTERS vs. "The Impact Bully" BRANDON
THOMACELLI (sp?) (C) (Elite Pro Television
Championship)
* The Elite Pro TV title looks a lot like the old NWA
TV title belt...good to see.
* This match featured the first kickout of this year's
4/20 classic, weirdly enough.
* Thomacelli wins with a PAIR of powerbombs into
inverse backbreakers. Impressive.

MATCH 4: "Pink Cadillac" NICK COLLUCI vs. CORPORAL
ROBINSON (w/ 2 Tuff Tony & Cousin Cletus) (Loser must
dress like the other next show)
* Understandably upset at what happened with his
now-ex-partner earlier on, Robinson brought out Cletus
and Tony to watch both entrances.
* Robinson absolutely PUNISHED Colluci on the outside
for several minutes before the bell even rang to start
the contest.
* Robinson wins with a sleeper-type hold into a leg
sweep. Now Colluci must dress like a juggalo at ICW's
May event.

MATCH 5: JAYSON CA$H (w/ Val Malone) vs. THOMAS WALTON
III (w/ Derek St. Holmes, Esq.)
* Seeing TW3 come out to Wayne Newton's "Danke Schoen"
(from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" for you newbies) was
very amusing...but not as much as his "golfer"
schtick. Sweater vest, plaid-print chinos, and teeing
off in the center of the ring, then admiring his drive
and holstering his club a'la the Chicago White Sox
heel hitter from Major League 2. But I digress...
* Some nice outside action, with TW3 whipping out a
top-rope cross-body onto Ca$h on the outside.
* Derek St. Holmes proves his intellect yet again. He
chases Malone acting like he's gonna slap her; she
runs up onto the apron for safety. Ca$h wants to know
why she's up there; while the ref gets her down,
Holmes slides TW3 the TOME OF KNOWLEDGE....OF DOOM.
TW3 clocks Ca$h with the book for the pin.
* After the match, an irate Ca$h fires Malone, grabs a
nearby ICW staffer, and delivers 2 double-handed
sitout chokeslams. Uncalled for!

MATCH 6: THE McCOYS (w/ Val Malone) vs. DYSFUNCTION &
BOBBY V. vs. KEEPIN' IT GANGSTA (Elimination Match for
ICW Tag Team Championship)
* Mickey McCoy, despite not being the legal man,
eliminated KIG by pinning TC Washington, aided by a
fistful of tights.
* Dys and Bobby somehow got Val in the ring, and
invited an unknown (to me) friend of theirs. Both
McCoys and Val were all put in identical figure-4s;
and submitted.
* NEW ICW TAG TEAM CHAMPS: Dysfunction & Bobby V.

MATCH 7: "Tattooed" MARK PRIEBE vs. JASON HADES vs.
"Psycho Shooter" DRAKE YOUNGER vs. KRUSH vs. CHRIS
HERO (5-way elimination match) * Hades had some sort
of IWA championshp; I couldn't identify the belt Drake
Younger wore.
* Hades eliminated Priebe with a running back bodydrop
(the Vaporizer?)
* Krush eliminated Hades with a spinning variant of a
DVD.
* Younger eliminated Krush...but I forget how.
* Down to Hero vs. Younger...Hero gets him with a
spinning arm into an inside cradle for the pin; they
hugged afterwards. Younger grabbed the mic to tell the
crowd what a good guy Hero is, and to buy his
merch...and that took us to intermission.

MATCH 8: MACE MORGAN & THE JACKAL vs. "K-Train" KODY
RICE & "The Featherweight of the Future" JASON DUKES
* The Jackal brought his ICW Cruiserweight title;
Dukes trumped that with his NWA Midwest X-Division
belt.
* Kody spinebustered Mace, followed up by a top-rope
moonsault by Dukes for the pin.

MATCH 9: SILAS YOUNG vs. EGO FANTASTICO (Special guest
referee: AUSTIN ARIES)
* Pre-match, Silas grabbed the mic and cut on Aries
for being here as a ref, and on the music guy...c'mon,
now!
* VERY energetic match...Ego wins with what I'll call
a muscle-buster. (If I'm wrong, lemme know!)

MATCH 10: THE NINJA VS. RYAN ROGUE (w/ Gina
Mattalata?) (sp?)
* The Liquor Sweets crowd went GAGA for Ryan Rogue.
* The Ninja went for a top-rope move, but Gina shoved
him down to the canvas. Ninja grabbed her and put her
on the apron, and she slapped him good. Rogue used the
opening to hit a sitout powerslam and win.

MATCH 11: MASON QUINN VS. "Simply Amazing" JUSTIN
DREDD (ICW Midwest & Heavyweight Championships)
* Best 2-outta-3 falls: 1st fall is First Blood, 2nd
fall is submission, 3rd (if necessary) fall is KO.
* Dredd brought both belts, but Quinn didn't have his
NWA Wisconsin heavyweight title belt with him.
* 1st fall: Quinn jumping DDT's Dredd onto a steel
chair; Dredd busted open.
* 2nd fall: After a lot of energetic attacks, Dredd
catches Quinn with a crossface; Quinn taps.
* 3rd fall: Dredd went for a top-rope springboard
move, but Quinn intercepted him with a vicious
clothesline. Both men struggling, but Dredd failed to
answer the 10-count.
* NEW ICW MIDWEST AND HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMP: Mason Quinn.
* Post-match, Quinn grabbed the mic and said how much
getting back the ICW title meant to him...but that the
Midwest belt was nothing, and THREW IT DOWN. I can
only assume the ICW Midwest championship is now
vacant.

MATCH 12 (MAIN EVENT): HARDCORE CRAIG vs. 2 TUFF TONY
(w/ Cousin Cletus) (Special Enforcer: ADRIAN SERRANO!)
* Serrano was a nice surprise for the main event. He
came out to his old "shoot World order" music. How ya
like that?)
* This fight went outside the ring quickly, with one
moment where a dazed Craig was seated up against the
wall, and Tony threw his body at him like a battering
ram!
* Craig responded by DVD'ing Tony through a pair of
steel chairs.
* At least 3 chairs and somebody's belt were used in
this match; both men were bloody messes halfway
through.
* It looked like Tony had the match won with another
muscle-buster when "Pink Cadillac" NICK COLLUCI ran in
to attack. Serrano grabbed Colluci's arm and twisted
the hell out of it, culminating in a top-rope
armdrag/legdrop combo! Incredible move from the NWA
and MMA legend!
* Tony brought out THUMBTACKS, and top-rope
superplexed Craig into the silve
