NWA ANARCHY, THIS IS PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING

5/31 NWA Anarchy Report: Fanfest 2008 by Larry Goodman

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NWA Anarchy ran a special fanfest/fan appreciation show Saturday at the NWA Arena. A good time was had by all during an afternoon of fun and frolic that included a heel dunk tank, barbecue, and a series of fan Q & A sessions.

Then, it was time for the main attraction, as a packed NWA Arena with 275 in attendance (at half-price) provided ear-splitting pops and killer heat throughout the evening.

Anarchy successfully walked a fine line last night – they gave the fans an excellent show, and they gave them just enough. The Anarchy creative team has really outdone themselves of late. The crew continues to make strides with their professionalism and overall execution in the ring.

NWA Anarchy owner Jerry Palmer opened the show. He noted that Ace Rockwell’s brother, Jordan was in attendance. Palmer informed the crowd that Katie Stephens, the seven year-old girl for whom the Fanfest raised money, was no longer in a coma. Palmer congratulated the crowd for beating the stereotype of pro wrestling fans by making a difference in someone’s life. When all is said and done, a minimum of $2500 was raised for the Stephens family. Angie Roach was introduced. Roach is a Hall County Firefighter who suffered burns on 35% of her body when she fell through a floor into a burning basement while fighting a house fire last August. NWA Anarchy raised money for her family last fall. Roach thanks the Anarchy fans for their financial and emotional support, and presented Palmer with a check for $250 for the Stephens family. They don’t call it the Church of Southern Wrestling for nothing.  With that, Palmer told the fan to fasten their seatbelts because they were in for one crazy ride.

(1) Bo Newsom beat Andrew Pendleton and Jay Clinton in a triple threat match by pinning Clinton at 4:22. For a teenage rookie yet to win his first match in Anarchy, Newsom got a very healthy pop. He reminds me of Bobby Eaton’s son, Dylan. He’s got enough height to where he can fill out to be a pretty good sized guy. The heels attacked Newsom, who made a fiery one- on-two comeback before succumbing to the odds. The crowd was right there with the “let’s go Bo” chant. It quickly degenerated into a game of one up-manship between the heels. Newsom hit a tornado DDT on Pendleton, but Clinton broke up the pin and hit an exploder suplex on Bo. Pendleton then hit a hammerlock something or other to lay Clinton out. Finish saw Newsom dump Pendleton off the top and hit a corkscrew moonsault on Clinton. Good opener. It worked as far as elevating Newsom’s stature. He showed good fire and his big finisher was right on the money.

Kimo destroyed all three guys after the match. Bailey said "welcome to reality." The refs surrounded the ring. Bailey was finally able to get Kimo under control by putting he mask back on him.

(2) Jeff Lewis & Brodie Chase & Melissa Coates & Hollywood Brunettes (Andrew Alexander & Kyle Matthews) & The Technicians (Bob E & Tyler Smith) beat Don Matthews & Wild Bunch (Billy Buck & Chris King) & Wes Grissom & Chip Day & Adrian Hawkins & T.K. Cross in 14:24. Technicians eliminated Cross at just 1:35 into the match with a Hart Attack. Hawkins and his new Mohawk were eliminated with a facebuster at 2:31, so the face side was down two in a hurry. A tornado kick by Day followed by Grissom’s top rope splash took care of Smith at 4:53. But Bob E eliminated Grissom with a Northern Lights Bomb less than a minute later. King pinned Bob E with a rocker dropper at 7:22. Kyle nailed King with a wicked corner dropkick and got the three with a small package at 7:45, giving the heels had a 5-3 manpower advantage. Alexander pinned Day with a gutbuster at 8:17. Buck ran wild on the heels, but wouldn’t punch Coates. He did give her sore ass with an atomic drop, but Lewis, ever the wily opportunist, pinned Buck using the tights at 8:38. That left Don as the lone babyface against five heels. Don made short work of both of the Brunettes, Kyle with the Lariat at 10:40 and Alexander with a short-arm lariat at 10:56. Lewis pounced on Don. Chase made a blind tag to set Don up for a clubbering, but Don came back with the BFK on Lewis. Don cleaned house. Coates got DQed for kicking Don in the man region at 14 minutes. Chase pinned Don after a spinebuster/neckbreaker combo with Lewis. Mission accomplished. Don fought the good fight against insurmountable odds. The finish advanced the Chase/Melissa/Don story without playing it for comedy and kept Lewis strong.

(3) Iceberg (with The Reverend) beat Shatter (with Attorney Jeff G. Bailey) to retain the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Title in 12:43 after the Reverend interfered. Devil’s Rejects and Kimo were barred from ringside. The action quickly spilled to the outside. Crowd was split here. The first big move was Shatter giving Iceberg a hangman neckbreaker across the rail. Iceberg caught Shatter coming off the apron after he rolled back in the ring to break the count, but Shatter came right back with spinebuster on the hardwood floor. Iceberg crushed Shatter with a TKO onto the ringsteps. That drew a cackle of glee from the Reverend. At 5:45, the action moved back in the ring with Iceberg doing major damage. Shatter pulled a stick out of his boot and jabbed it into Iceberg’s neck. Why no DQ? Ref Brent Wiley must have been blind not to see it. A wrestling thing I guess. Iceberg applied a Crippler Crossface. Shatter was dire straits, so Bailey raked Berg’s eyes to break the hold. Shatter tried to put the 400+ pound Iceberg on his back. That wasn’t happening. They bill him at 450. He’s lost weight and gotten in better shape to where that’s nowhere close to the truth. Shatter hit a German suplex for a close near fall. Crowd thought that might have been it. Shatter went for the PTSD. No go. Iceberg hit the Air Raid Crash, but Shatter kicked out of his back cover. Shatter blocked a Ground Zero off the middle ropes and went for superplex. The Reverend grabbed Shatter’s leg and Iceberg landed on top for the three count. A good match. Not at the level of the Hardcore Hell match, but that one was a classic.

Intermission. The second half opened with a deal where Cody, the rescue dog, picked the winner of the drawing for Anarchy merchandise.

(4) Mikal Judas & Ace Rockwell & New Wave (Derrick Driver & Steven Walters) beat Todd Sexton & Chad Parham & Jeremy Vain & Rob Adonis (with Seth Delay) in 14:42 when Rockwell pinned Sexton. Rockwell high-fived his brother before the match. The babyface side cleared the ring, and heels looked none too anxious to mix it up with them. The babyface shine built to the tag to Judas. Vain cowered. Sexton tagged Parham, who in turned tagged Adonis. Judas dispatched Adonis with a Saito suplex and a Mafia kick. Parham and Sexton escaped from Judas’ double goozle, but not his double suplex. Delay interfered to start bigtime heat on Driver. Adonis hit Vain with an enzuigiri when Driver ducked. Judas shoved Rockwell aside to take the hot tag. Judas no sold Sexton’s superkick and hit the double chokeslam on Parham and Sexton. Judas spit the red mist at Adonis. Vain ran out the front door with Judas in hot pursuit. Rockwell hit a bulldog on Sexton. Parham tried to break it up with a senton backsplash and landed on Sexton when Rockwell moved. Delay tried to interfere, and Palmer pulled him off the apron. Delay and Parham had evil intentions for Palmer. New Wave hit stereo pescados to take them out. Inside the ring, Rockwell blocked Sexton’s flying front kick and hit the Aces High for the pin and the monster pop. Another very good match. Judas looked indestructible. New Wave never looked out of their league in fast company.

Postmatch, Ace’s brother, Jordan was giving Sexton a hard time on his way out. Sexton hiptossed Jordan over the rail, dragged him into the ring, and applied the Sexton Stretch. Rockwell and Palmer made the save. Sexton came across as a lowlife, scumbag, sore loser of the highest order.

(5) Shadow Jackson & Slim J beat Devil’s Rejects (Azrael & Shaun Tempers with the Reverend) via DQ in 11:55 when Concrete Gorilla interfered. The crowd went absolutely berserk at the chance to have Jackson and J’s dorags as souvenirs. “Shadowmania” chants abound. Amazing. J and Azrael started with what was probably the best wrestling segment of the show. They simultaneously connected with high kicks for a double knockdown. J ended up taking the heat. There was a killer spot where Tempers countered a huracanrana with a big time powerbomb. Rejects pulled the no tag switch on ref D. L. Norris and then prevented Norris from seeing Jackson’s tag. They’ve avoided over using those spots in Anarchy, so they worked quite well. J hit a one-on-two 360 Ace crusher on Tempers. Not good, but good enough to get by with the crowd on fire. Jackson dumped Rejects and J flew from the top with a corkscrew plancha. Nemesis and Jay Fury came out of the shadows to attack J for the DQ.

They pulled off one hell of a roller coaster postmatch to send the fans home with a thrill. Jackson and J battled to the back with the Gorillas. Shatter and Kimo showed up and cleared Rejects out of the ring. The Reverend panicked and ran. Bailey stole the belts. Iceberg came out. Bailey’s guys confronted Rejects and security intervened. Shadow and J battled their way back into the ring, leaving Concrete Gorillas on the outside with Devil’s Rejects and NWA Elite. The heels punked out the security force. Just when it looked like curtains for Shadow and J, the entire babyface side of the locker room filled the ring. Lights out-lights on- and poof! Judas was front and center towering over all the other babyfaces. Judas draped the tag title belts over the shoulders of Shadow and J. They hit Shadow’s “Ironman” music on the PA to close the show.

NOTES: NWA Anarchy returns to the NWA Arena in one week- 6/7 with Lewis & Chase vs. Don Matthews & Hayden Young, Sexton vs. Newsome, Big Time Playaz vs. Texas Treats, Vain & Adonis vs. Grissom & Day, Devil’s Rejects vs. New Wave, Hollywood Brunettes & Andrew Pendleton III vs. Malachi & Cross & Yoshi Hiroshima, Parham vs. Sal Rinauro and Fury vs. Jackson with Nemesis and Slim J handcuffed to the top turnbuckle…As part of the NWA Showcase/60th Anniversary show at Philips Arena on 6/7, it will be Shatter (with Bailey) vs. Iceberg (with Reverend vs. Judas for the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Title...Ref Brent Wiley is booked for Philips…Congratulations to Chip Day and Kyle Matthews, who have been selected for the CHIKARA’s Young Lion’s Cup VI tournament to be held June 13-15 in Hellertown, Pa. The tournament is limited to wrestlers under the age of 25. Past winners include Larry Sweeney, Hallowicked, Arik Cannon and Chuck Taylor. …Adonis and Glacier (Ray Lloyd) just completed filming of a movie in Atlanta titled “Kerebos.” It is scheduled to open in January 2009…Matthews and J were playing horseshoes during the fanfest. NWA Anarchy TV Report by Ca$hFlowX

Episode 119

May 26, 2008

WRESTLING: (n.) ’res-ling A sport of contest in which two individuals face off in unarmed combat.

ANARCHY: (n.) an-ar-key (1) A state of lawlessness due to absence of authority. (2) A complete lack of order.

What happens when you mix the two together? NWA-Anarchy!

- Welcome to NWA Anarchy Wrestling, this is PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING~! The fallout from Hardcore Hell commences with the latest television tapings (approximately 6 – 7 weeks ago). Last week on NWA Anarchy, Truitt Fields pulled down the Final Curtain on Jeff Lewis to retain the NWA Anarchy TV Title. This week, Todd Sexton & the Technicians challenge Adrian Hawkins & Chip Day & Wes Grissom in a rematch from HH. G-Rated Reunited returns, plus Melissa Coates & Brody Ray Chase continue their unusual love affair and an interview with “the Reverend” Dan Wilson accompanied by the new NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Champion Iceberg.

1. “The Excellence of Arrogance” Chad Parham embarrassed Yoshi Hiroshima to retain the Certificate of Awesomeness.

Who allowed John Johnson to become the ring announcer? Oh, yeah, it’s the Body salivating over Chad Parham defending the Certificate of Awesomeness. Sigh. (Just kidding. I’ve always wanted to see some whacky angle involving Johnson.) Chad spits in the face of the red carpet treatment by the referee by leaping over the top rope. Parham continues to humiliate his loyal followers by raking Yoshi’s back. Wow, and this is while Yoshi was worshiping his royal highness! What an not a very nice person Chad is. Parham connects with his patented delayed vertical suplex and senton splash. So much for the man who’s defeated the Great Muta, Inoki, Hayabusa (alright, so I threw that one was end though Hayabusa is retired due to a horrible injury) and every other Japanese star including Atsushi Onita in a 57 million light tube no roped barbed wire baseball bat exploding time bomb piranha death match. Now that is a mouthful. Yoshi does his best Olympic gymnastics freestyle floor exercise impersonation before Parham piledrives him straight through the earth to Japan.

COMMENTS: Welcome to Anarchy NWA Mr. Yoshi.

- The G-Rated Guys That Totally Rule Reunited has their opportunity to make fun of their opponents. They’ve been doing it for 8 years (I thought they said 7 before), but Sal Rinauro has a public service announcement sponsored by the letter G. Remember the G in T*H*U*G stands for jail. (That one is for all you Tracy Smothers fans out there.) Rinauro wants to help Dan Wilson with his foot problem, you know, the one that causes him to scream loudly? Mr. Bailey? Rinauro offers the Hug Hotline, but offers him a trip to the former Deep South Wrestling tour at Six Flags. Jeremy Vain & Mr. Rob Adonis receive a thumbs up for their lifestyle. ¿Que? Seth Delay shoots on John Phoenix, Brandon Phoenix and Jason Cross, “Isn’t it funny that they don’t wrestle here any more?” Delay laughs, but Rinauro grins and bears it before turning to Melissa Coates. Unfortunately, there is no help for her. That leaves Talent & Money, tonight’s opponents, and there will be fun, shenanigans (no chicanery and tomfoolery, eh), hoopla and whackity-do-time. Perhaps, they can win a game tonight.

2. Talent & Money (JT Talent & Andrew Pendleton III) defeated “The Chicago Cubs of NWA Anarchy” G-Rated Reunited (Seth Delay & Sal Rinauro)

Rule #1: Thou shall never interrupt, Pearl Harbor and duck for dualing backdrops on G-Rated for the consequences is suffering through dualing “Das Wunderkind” Alex Wright impersonations. After commercial, G-Rated displays tag team continuity on Talent until Pendleton plasters Rinauro’s chin on the ring apron. G-Rated miscommunicates when Pendleton ducks Rinauro. Delay writhes in pain on the floor. Rinauro fights back with a springboard clothesline to buy himself breathing time. Rinauro reaches for Delay, but Seth hops from the apron! This leaves Rinauro alone for Talent & Money to cash him in with the ATM (double team Gori special facebuster).

COMMENTS: Two birds killed with one stone: Talent & Money gain a clean pinfall victory and Delay’s upcoming heel turn. Unfortunately, the only way the NWA Arena will jeer Delay is if set Slim J or Shadow Jackson on fire.

- “The Master of Ceremonial Disasters” Greg Hunter is not alone in what he witnessed at Hardcore Hell’s love triangle: Don Matthews, Brody Ray Chase and Melissa Coates. Chase admits that Don did everything to himself at HH. Matthews is probably is alone crying and changing his Depends. Ten years ago, Chase retired from chasing women, but Matthews unlocked that door. Melissa ran to Chase on her own because she wants a real man and not someone who writes love notes. She found the best ride in the park, “the Great American Scream Machine.” The Merciless One has had enough and unleashes Hades on Chase. Coates slaps Matthews. Matthews practices physical violence against she-men by turning Coates over his knee. He turns his back and Chase smashes him with a chair. Matthews no sells and turns around, but Coates delivers the High Note Special. Chase follows up with a second chair shot to Matthews’ back to guarantee he stays down. He tosses the chair aside after a third shot. Melissa mounts Matthews to smash his head on the mat. As usual, Hunter leads someone into peril. Sigh.

- Todd Sexton offers to beat up Adrian Hawkins & Chip Day three on two just like they did at HH. Hawkins says it’s not going to work so he made a call to an old friend. Guess who the friend is? Ace Rockwell. Sexton soils himself. The heels head out to brawl with the faces at ringside.

3. Todd & Sexton & the Technicians (Bobby Hill & Tyler Smith) defeated Adrian Hawkins & Chip Day & “the 7 Figured Deal” Ace Rockwell.

Rockwell quickly demonstrates his incredible wrestling ability by delivering multiple arm drags to Hill. Sexton takes personal exception to Rockwell by firmly placing a knee to the small of the back. Rockwell crumples to the mat in pain. Rockwell unleashes an offensive flurry and receives a blind tag from Hawkins. Hawkins dazzles the Technicians with his reckless abandonment and they greet him with a vicious clothesline. After commercial, the rudo contingent works over Hawkins. Sexton mocks Wes Grissom. Hawkins finally makes the hot tag to Rockwell and he cleans house with Sexton. Rockwell crashes on a cross bodyblock, but connects with a spinebuster after ducking the Sexecution. Rockwell eats a STO and Day receives a side Russian legsweep for his efforts. Hawkins attempts a save, but Sexton counters with the Sexecution. Sexton escapes the Ace’s High and Rockwell catches Smith. Sexton catches Rockwell off-guard with the Sexecution. What not a very nice persons.

COMMENTS: Someone other than Rockwell should have taken the pinfall. It didn’t add to the overall storyline and he is a main evener. The same could be said if Sexton had been pinned, especially in a match with one mid-carder and three lower tier wrestlers. The Technicians need to integrate some heel tactics into their offense, but they have really improved. I like the Technicians as heel.

- Mr. Hunter entertains the Devil’s Rejects and draws a pop when he announces Iceberg as the new champion. Wilson brags about foretelling prophecies and capturing 2/3 of NWA Anarchy gold. Iceberg proved the naysayers wrong and forced Phil Shatter to bleed an ocean of blood. (He’s not exaggerating either.) You can do things the American way, but Wilson does so his way. Wilson lavishes in wasting Bailey’s money on the new title. He issues an open challenge to any punk in the back and Austin Creed answers the call. Creed says he will unstrap the belt from the champion, but I have a feeling that Iceberg will prevent any future TNA bookings.

4. NWA Heavyweight Champion “The Greatest Monster in Professional Wrestling History” Iceberg w/”the Reverend” Dan Wilson & the Staff of Righteousness pinned Austin “Consequences” Creed.

Creed tries to slow the No Pain Train down with a series of sleepers, but it’s to no avail. Iceberg squashes Creed. Creed rolls to the floor in pain. Wilson prepares to smash Creed with the Staff of Righteousness, but Hayden Young intercepts the Reverend. Back in the ring, Iceberg squashes Creed on a Sunset flip attempt. (Isn’t squashing a reoccurring theme throughout this match?) Creed outquicks a corner splash attempt, but Iceberg catches him with an inverted slam. Iceberg focuses his attack on Creed’s back and makes several nonchalant covers. Iceberg squashes Creed with a corner cannonball for a near fall. The crowd rallies behind Creed and he responds with an offensive flurry. Iceberg staggers right into a missile dropkick for a near fall. Creed displays his pugilistic skills and sets up for the Monte Fisto. Unfortunately, Creed is no match for the Being of Inconceivable Horror. One belly to belly suplex and Ground Xero splash puts Creed away for good.

COMMENTS: Iceberg got exactly what he needed after HH: looking like a monster in a match with a clean finish. The match was too slow and too methodical. Fortunately, the crowd remained interested in the action.

OVERALL: Today’s episode featured mostly conservative booking after Hardcore Hell, except for the Seth Delay heel turn. Overall, a very good show.

NWA East/ UCW
May 31, 2008
2nd Annual Survival of the Fittest Results
Uniontown, PA

The show started with an NWA East showcase match.
"Division 1" James Ross arguably the best up and comer
in the Pittsburgh area today. Pulled out the victory
over the longest reighning NWA East Champion Chris
Taylor and arguably the best wrestler in Pittsburgh
"1st Klass" Brandon K.

Flamingo Inc had a promo. They worked out there
difference between Prodigy & Stonewall. Jesse came out
and hyped the Main Event Ladder Match.

Jimmy Dream came out and said that no 1 excepted his
open challenge to the Light Heavyweight Title. Chris
Payne came out. He obviously could not compete for the
title cause he didnt meet the weight requirments. He
introduced Jimmys opponent. His sister Rebecca Payne.
Let me tell you she is no joke. She took it to Jimmy
tooth and nail. But all the outside interference
proved to be to much. As Jimmy Dream retained the
title.

Ray Smooth defeated Black Ice. After the match Ice
went berzerk, attacking Smooth. Jazmine tryed to
intervein but was caught with an elbow and was knocked
out.....This prompted a returning Playboy to come out
and and check on her and get and both Ice and Smooths
face about it.

Bulldozer, Scott Sarin & Doyle Day vs. Massive Mike,
Playboy & Bud Cassidy went to a no contest, when the
ref threw the match out due to the fact he could not
keep control. Flamingo came out and offered Dozer a
contract for Flamingo Inc.

"Suger" Steve Flash did the impossible by overcoming
the odds and defeated Nicholas Tide, Adam Ugly and
Justin Bender in a 4 way contest to become the new UCW
American Champion.

After intermission we had a special Cupids
Lounge..Cupids guest was a man that holds 7 titles on
3 continents the 1 and only Sterling James Keenan. SJK
was interrupted by his opponent for the evening NWA
National Heavyweight Champion Crusher
Hanson......Hanson said that he would not defend his
title unless SJK put up all his titles. SJK said his
bag is already heavy he wouldnt mind adding another
10lbs to it. And accepted Crushers' Challenge.

"The Reaper" Draven Oriley retained his No Limits
Title by defeating Tae Money, Alan Cross, Darth X,
Jimmy Starz and Mantis. This match can be described in
1 word.....AMAZING! These 6 man really established the
No Limits Title this night. Every single man busted
there ass to try and captured a title that means so
much to all of them. Again you had to be there live to
witness just how unbelivably great this match truely
was........After the match Flamingo and Jimmy Dream
came out. Flamingo said he was sick of the No Limits
Title and right now they were going to unify the
titles. Dream was pretty much having his way with
Draven untill Rebecca Payne came out and got revenge
on Dream. She hit Dream witht he LightHeavyweight
Title thus allowing Draven to unify the titles. As of
May 31st 2008 there is no more Light Heavyweight Title
in UCW.

Crusher Hanson vs. Sterling James Keenan.....If your a
fan of the orignal NWA this was the match for you. A
true classic NWA Match. Hanson and SJK gave it there
all. Unfortuanetly for SJK just as it looked like he
had the NWA National Title in his sights the timelimit
expired. Both men kept there belts.

Up next Bad Company retained there Tag Team Titles by
defeating Coast 2 Coast....After the match Bad Company
(mainly Maniac Killa) was brutaly attacked by the 2
newest members of Flamingo Inc. Bulldozer and Black
Ice. After knocking Payne to the outside the 2 men
litterly took out Killas knee. Afterward the 2
challenged Bad Company to put the belts on the line
against them. This ofcourse was after Security helped
Killa to the back. It will be interesting to see how
this 1 unfolds.

"Stonewall" Dave Snyder took on ECW Original Axl
Rotten. The match was a very solid match and you could
clearly tell they were both giving there all when, Tae
Money came out and attacked Stonewall thus leaving the
ref no other choice but to dq Axl. Afterward Axl and
Stonewall were clearly upset over what happend and the
2 shook hands. Hopefully we get to see this match in
the future on the more up and up.

Now before the Main Event could begin we had a small
problem. Former UCW wrestler Bill Jacobs was in
attendence after buying a ticket. Unfortuantly the
misfortunes that led to his departure from UCW got the
best of him as Jesse was making his way around the
ring Bill got in his face and the fists starting
flying. Security quickly took care of the problem by
breaking them up. Handcuffed Bill and the police were
called. So fans please let this be a lesson do not
touch the wrestlers. I mean this was truely
unfortunate that such a great night had to be
interrupted by that.....Now the match began and Jesse
fought really hard to try and regain his title. These
2 Prodigy and Jesse pulled out all stops in this 1.
After Jesse hit a swantawn from the top of the ladder,
Bender and Ice came out and began attacking him.
Stonewall hit the ring begged Justin for the chair and
told Ice to hold Skelton up.....Then BAM!!!!!!
Stonewall clobbered......Justin Bender????? Thats
right Stonewall has clearly had enuff with Flamingo
Inc. and was out there to help Jesse for the 2nd month
in a row. Unfortunatly for Jesse, Stonewall Didnt hit
Proidgy. As Prodigy powerbombed Jesse thru the table
and climbed the ladder to retain the championship.

The next NWA East/ UCW event is scheduled for July
5th. Check the events page for more details.
