Bill Demott

- The show opens up with the crew welcoming DeMott to the show and asking him about his recent release. He says its strange not being a part of Deep South Wrestling (which is a WWE Developmental Territory) but says you get used to that kind of thing.

- He liked being a part of DSW and was there for 2 years. He says that he really likes being a part of the backstage area. Bill is proud of the guys that have come up through DSW.

- Bill feels that going from in ring action to being an agent or running a training camp is a logical progression in wrestling, and he really liked that part of it. He praises Finlay for being able to come back to the ring after stepping out for a few years.

- James references Jerry Lawler’s comments about how the older talents need to teach the younger guys, and Bill agrees with him. He feels that the young guys need to be prepared for the spots they get.

- He recalls his tryout matches with the WWF in the mid 90s, and he was doing Japanese tours in between. This allowed him to learn different styles, and stayed mostly punch/kick when he came to WCW.

- It was Jerry Jarrett who brought him in initially, and says that he would be interested in going over to TNA. He feels that competition is needed in wrestling, and feels that TNA is doing well right now with old and new stars. He is very impressed by some of TNA’s newer stars.

- He first learned how to do a moonsault in Puerto Rico when, while intoxicated, he did one into a pool. He said that he was compared to Fred Flintstone.

- He recalls the story of when he won the US Title and says it was one of the best moments of his career. He was well respected by WCW’s locker room and misses it even today.

- When WCW was sold, he says that it was really weird to see WWF trucks and staff all over the arena for the last show. He says that the guys in the locker room were pretty quiet.

- He doesn’t feel that the WCW Invasion did not live up to expectations.

- He then tells a funny story about how he originally got signed by WCW and met Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff in a bathroom.

- He thought The Dungeon of Doom was awesome. He loved that he was one of the smallest guys the group and he liked working with guys that he was a fan of.

- The WWE had him wrestle as Hugh Morris, but rather as Bill DeMott. The reason is because they liked the way he carried himself on the Tough Enough program.

- He got on Tough Enough after talking with Al Snow, and he always liked helping to train people. He says that on Tough Enough they did a lot to make it more exciting for TV, but there was a lot of training that was left out. He loves that guys like Johnny Nitro have succeeded.

- When asked about Hardcore Holly/Matt Cappatelli incident, Bill says that it was blown way out of proportion. He felt that Matt learned from it, and Matt and Bob have talked and there are no hard feelings. This leads to a discussion about the internet’s effect on wrestling, Bill feels that if they want to talk they can.

- He is asked about ribs, but he just laughs and “pleads the 5th”

- He is then asked about one of his earliest wrestling identities, Crash the Terminator. He got the name during a tour in Europe.

- Word Associations are next. Listen to the interview and you’ll hear his comments on Lance Storm, Jim Duggan, Rocco Rock, The Wall, Jimmy Hart, The Big Show, Tylene Buck, Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, Chavo Guerrero, Ric Flair, and Vince McMahon.

- When asked about wrestlers dying so often, he says that it is not the fault of the wrestling business. The business has made people famous. He sticks up for Vince and says you can’t blame one person for the mistakes of many people.

- He also tells a funny story about his infamous in ring name: Huge G. Rection. He then talks about how the Misfits in Action were a bunch of misfits that they didn’t know how to use, so they just stuck them together.

- The interview ends with an excellent and informative discussion on in ring psychology, and many of the aspects that make a match work. All independent wrestling fans should listen to this portion of the interview!
