A Long Island bodybuilder, Anthony Badalamenti, was charged with possession of endangering weapon, second-degree assault, and endangering the wellbeing of a child after beating the six-year-old son of his girlfriend according to the report published by the New York Daily News. News said that Badalamenti had used a weightlifting belt in beating the child, which lasted for 20 minutes. Now, Badalamenti placed into jail and is sanctioned to pay a bond of $100,000.

According to New York Daily News, Nassau County police received a call one Friday night from a neighbor who heard the wails and pleas of the boy for help. The police was directly referred to the house of Badalamenti who shares with his girlfriend Jessica Muniz. The boy was found out with multiple bruises and cut on his leg including to his groin area and buttocks after he was extremely beaten by Badalamenti. Now, both Badalamenti and Muniz are facing all the charges that was laid upon by the authorities.  However, both Badalamenti and Muniz are being defended by Legal Aid lawyers. Although, these lawyers cannot be contacted for comment during the first days when the charges were made known to the two.

Daily News also reported that Badalamenti is claimed to order human growth hormone and steroids from Lowen’s Compounding Pharmacy. The said Bay-Ridge shop was raided last October 2007 by authorities. According to the investigator’s statement that time, they were able to seize almost $8 million worth of human growth hormone and steroids after the raid.

Report of Daily News also stated that Badalamenti was able to obtain a prescription from Richards Lucente of State Island, a physician who is being investigated by the grand jury of Brooklyn for allegedly providing a thousand of performancing-enhancing drugs to Lowen’s. “I don’t know if this was ‘roid rage, but this sure reminds me of Chris Benoit,” uttered by the source who refused to be identified by referring to the professional wrestler who committed suicide after killing his wife and son last year because of using excessive amount of steroids.

Before the incident happened, Anthony Badalamenti is known to work as a personal trainer in Titans Fitness and Boxing Club located in Merrick, New York. And it was last year when Badalamenti gained a national prominence when his workout regimen was known to help a contestant named Jim Germanakos on “The Biggest Loser” of NBC to shed 186 pounds. This caused him to appear in different television shows such as the Tyra Banks Show. But for an unknown reason, Badalamenti had informed his neighbors that he had also joined in Ultimate Fighting Championship bouts, which was denied by the UFC spokeswoman Jennifer Wenk by saying they had no connection to the association of mixed martial arts.

Previous reports also linked the name of Badalamenti to the use of underground steroids just before he was involved in using the homemade GHB when he was 19-year-old according to Daily News report. GHB is claimed to be popular among used bodybuilders since they use this to imitate steroids. However, this causes chemical burns as well as chemical poisoning. This is the reason why Badalamenti was hospitalized after he used this. GHB is recognized to be a harmful substance since it is not pharmaceutically related in the very first place.
