BRIAN CAGE:

On being Impact Champion:
“I’ve said it before and I’ll always the the first to say that I’m extremely disappointed with my reign so far. It is like, yeah, I’m the World Champion which is great. My name is in the history books. But, dealing with an injury from the night I won the title and pretty much since then has been a ginormous setback and just not how I wanted it all to go down. So, this entire reign has been lackluster thus far in that regard. I’m hoping to have some fireworks with Sami Callihan and then go on to defend this title as much as possible afterwards. There’s a lot of matches I’d like to get in and I’m looking to make up for some lost time.”

On if he still feels like a he thought being a wrestler would be like as a kid:
“I was a champion in Lucha Underground but I feel more like a bona fide star as Impact World Champion. The look, the feel, and the locker room, it is a lot like Lucha Underground. I remember that quote, too. What I meant was it finally feels like what I imagined it would feel like to be a wrestler when I was a kid.”

On facing Sami Callihan at Bound for Glory:
“Every time I go out there, I aim to steal the show. I’m also planning on taking his head off from where we’re at right now.”

On Impact moving to AXS TV:
“I feel like Impact has been the most consistant wrestling product out there for a while now – Especially this year in terms of stories and matches. But, not that many have been able to see it… Not because they don’t want to but because they didn’t have access to it. So, now that we’re going on AXS, no pun intended, I’m excited for people to see and find out what they’ve been missing out on.”

On Michael Elgin saying he and Cage should’ve closed Slammiversary:
“Yeah, you know, with everything we had building into it… I thought we had a really good match. I thought we still had the best match on the card. But, for my big return and my first title defense… For that to be the semi-main event was a little bit of a kick in the pants. But, we went out there and we did our best to make people feel otherwise.”

On his final thoughts heading into Sunday’s Bound for Glory:
“I’m trying my best to make sure that the match has an added stipulation added on to it. I’ve asked for it to be no rules. The answer that I’ve gotten has been “We’ll see.” Reality and kayfabe are one in the same on that. We’ll see what happens.”
