Carlito not cool about missing 'Mania
By TIM BAINES - Ottawa Sun

DETROIT - While many of WWE's superstars are trading punch for punch, kick for kick, headlock for headlock and table for table at tomorrow night's Wrestlemania, Carlito will be backstage watching, unhappy to be on the sidelines.

"I'm out of Wrestlemania," he says. "Apparently, they had to make space for Kane vs. Khali and Melina vs. Ashley. How can I be at Wrestlemania? If I politic and kiss ass, I should make it.

"I'm not going to cry or be bitter, there's always next year ... and I don't want to get fired.

CANOE -- SLAM! Sports - Wrestling - Wrestlemania 23: Carlito not cool about missing 'Mania

Come on, Carlito is 100% correct !!

Do we really have to be subjected to watching Khali vs. Kane?  What a waste of time, let's just pray it will be short and sweet.  How sad is it that a company would prefer to have Khali vs. Kane, than Flair vs. Carlito. What a shame.  Khali needs to be retired !!  I say, "let's get Flair back".  WOOOOOOOOOO !!!  I'd love to hear your thoughts....

Our first response to our article from Natalia:
Carlito is VERY right!! Carlito has been with the business for almost three years and only actually wrestled in ONE WrestleMania so far. He got embarrassed at WM 21, lost at 22 and isn't even apart of WM 23. Carltio is one of the most athletic and best PURE wrestlers the WWE has today. It is such a shame. Like he said there is always next year, but we shouldn't have to think that way. In my eyes, the Carlito era is on its way!

Carlito and Flair should be on WWE's top prioroty to be at WrestleMania 23. That would be a classic match, regardless of the winner (as long as none of them turn heel). I also think that we should have some added matches. How in the world are Paul London and Brian Kendrick not at WrestleMania 23? They have been the WWE tag team champions for over ten months. I think that there should be a HUGE tag team turmoil match for the titles including: Paul London and Brian Kendrick, Johnny Nitro and a partner, Lance Cade and Trevor Murdock, Duece and Domino, Shad and JTG and William Regal and Dave Taylor. That would steal the show!!! The reason for my thinking is because Cena and Michaels obviously won't be able to defend the titles, so I was thinking that an interpromotional tag match could be added to the card. And the have London and Kendrick win so the titles remain on SmackDown and are still champs. Thanks..    Ben

I understand about Carlito being upset.. I think it will be a great match having Carlito vs Flair. They had it before and it was great.  They are pushing the great Khali so much, for what?  He walks like a orangutan and when he talks that you actually have to slow the tape down to understand what he is saying.  He was good with Daviri but by himself he sucks.  Hey Georgie, are you sure, he is not reincarnated from Giant Gonzalez??

Sorry, but I feel no sympathy for Carlito's whine about the Wrestlemania 23 card. Ric Flair would have a more legit complaint. And it wouldn't surprise me to see Carlito & Flair team up in an unadvertized  tag team turmoil match in Detroit, where they can continue to build  their feud for a feature match at a later PPV.
I realize I'm in the minority here. but I'm looking forward to seeing Khali on Sunday and whether Kane can carry him to any kind of a passable match. And even if Kane can't, it will still be perversely entertaining, much like the William Hung/"Bush Baby" types who appear on the American Idol audition shows. Besides, with this being the 20th anniversary of Mania 3, there should be a "giant" on the card as a tribute to Andre.
If Carlito wants more recognition, he should convince the WWE creative team to let him return to his cocky heel character and then run with it.   As Torrie's face squeeze, he's gone stale.

 From Mike Siciliano:
While Carlito has had a push with Flair, and seeing the two of them go at it at Wrestlemania would be nothing short of interesting, Carlito does not have the right to complain.  The person who should be complaining is Flair.  Flair has given his blood, sweat, and tears to this company for countless years, and a role should have been found for the Nature Boy in what potentially could be his last Wrestlemania.  I mean, let's call it as we see it, Flair is not young by any stretch, and the clock is ticking for him, if it hasn't already gone out long ago.  The best thing Vince McMahon could've done is to honor Flair by giving him a role in any possible storyline angle he can until Flair walks away.  Regardless of the quality of the wrestling, Flair would make it entertaining by the use of the microphone.
Carlito has years ahead of him to make a name for himself in the wrestling business bar none.  He oughta take this slap in the face of not being on the card as a token from the higher ups to shape the hell up and get back in to the swing of the company and put some more passion in to his product.

I am responding to your article about Carlito and his comments about Wrestlemania. I think everyone feels that of course Ric Flair vs. Carlito would be better than Khali vs. Kane. But my problem is this. What has Carlito done that makes him feel so special? Who does he think he is to complain like this? He's lucky enough to even be employed by WWE, he's lucky he has gotten to be in the ring with people like Ric Flair, and it just makes me sick to see him talk like he's something special. In my opinion, he really isn't anything special at all. You will not see Ric Flair complain about not being at Wrestlemania 23. Which truly shows you the difference between a true professional and a young punk.

From: Frank Gravagna     Hey Georgie,     All he needs is a new entrance theme, an attitude, and a push. He is a great heel. He has talent. A reggaeton entrance with a heel persona would definitely work for him. I’ve been so disappointed with the lack of push & storylines for him. It’s really unfortunate he’s not in the money in the bank match this year or in some other marquee matchup. He’s more than capable of pulling it off.

This was sent in by DON:  Sorry,  I don't feel bad for Carlito. First off he's an up and comer and will have to wait his turn. second they wanted a battle of the giants at Wrestlemania which initially was supposed to be Hogan vs Big Show, but that obviously did not work out.   As far as Flair is concerned, one of my favorite wrestlers, he needs to retire, the man is nearly if not 60. to be honest.  Both matches could have been left off the card and I wouldn't have missed either one of them. i would have liked to have seen a Smackdown tag title match, but the tag division sucks, and raws tag team champs are the main event. to be honest if it wasn't for the Taker vs Batista and Cena vs Michaels, I wouldn't even order this years Mania. but with HBK in the main event, it's sure to be a showstopper. nuff said, that's my opinion , don't have to like it, but it's what I feel, AND THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE, BECAUSE I SAID SO!!!!!

From Mark Meister of DeBary,FL:
I guess Carlito hasn't joined the for real Mr. McMahon Kiss My Ass Club.We will be treated to diarrhea matches such as Kane and Khali (I would rather watch Goldberg and Lesner).Carlito should be climbing that ladder for that contract rather than have both Hardy's in this match. All we need is a pillow match to make this Mania complete!! Wrestlemania is coming to Orlando next year.  I bet Carlito will be in that one. This is how Vince works!!

From  prc_style_no9
Ric Flair should have retired by now.
As for Carlito, he isn't the best wrestler on Raw.  So no, I don't think he deserves to be on card. They pay him a good amount of $$$'s.   So he should keep his mouth shut. You don't see Shelton Benjamin whining, who is a way better wrestler than Carlito. They can replace Carlito just like that. He is mid card at best.

My question to you is, "Do you really prefer to see Khali vs. Kane to Flair vs. Carlito?"
Khali is one of the worst I've seen in the ring in a long time.  Georgie

Answer:   Khali is the worst guy I've seen since Umaga. I was just saying there is better guys on roster who are not complaining. As for Flair, WWE is tarnishing his reputation that's why I would retire if I was him. Storyline wise a Carlito vs. Ric Flair would be way better.

You could have Torrie turning on Carlito and helping Flair win. As for the Khali vs Kane match, we know who's gonna win that one.
