The second film from WWE Films is tentatively titled, Goodnight (Was listed as Eye Scream Man), starring WWE Raw Superstar Kane and will be released theatrically by Lions Gate Films in 2005. Recently, legendary Superstar Stone Cold Steve Austin signed to appear in three WWE Films productions.

Thanks to Mike Informer:  SLAM! Sports - Wrestling - Kid Kash has a lot to say  http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Wrestling/2005/06/23/1101060.html     A great read on Kid Kash (David Cash)  I predict that David will be in the WWE before too long.  Dave is a phenominal talent, and would add so much to the company.

Wrestling's extreme future By THE LILSBOYS

THE buy-rate for last week's ECW PPV hasn't come in yet but there's one thing everyone in the wrestling industry agrees on - it's going to be huge.

Some early estimates put the amount of households purchasing One Night Stand as high as 800,000, which would make it one of the biggest selling wrestling events of all time.

If we treat ECW as a 'single brand' like Raw or Smackdown, even if the figure is half of that it will still be a major success.

The best split show for more than a year was January's New Year's Revolution, which was sold to around 370,000 households.

Backlash and No Way Out currently stand at 295,000 and 238,000 respectively and even the dual brand Royal Rumble - almost always the second biggest-seller of the year - will probably wind up just under the 600,000 mark.

The obvious irony is that when it was actually a fully functional company ECW never exceeded 100,000 purchases, and the success of this show combined with Shane Douglas' Hardcore Homecoming and the recent Rise And Fall DVD would have wiped out the debts that sent the company under many times over.

If ECW One Night Stand does finish as the most-bought PPV of 2005, behind the million-selling and massively-hyped WrestleMania 21, it actually asks more questions than it answers.

Had the show done the expected fair to good buy-rate, the WWE could have cashed in with the odd DVD release and reunion show, without having to think about more than how to tap the nostalgia market.

But as a runaway success, both at the box office and with the critics, there just HAS to be a future for ECW.

The major dilemma for Vince McMahon is how to build on One Night Stand's success, without going so far with it as to destroy everything he has built.

The problem was neatly summarised by The Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer, who has been covering the business side of the industry for the past 25 years.

He writes: "One Night Stand opened a Pandora's Box that many would argue, vehemently, the industry was better off keeping closed at this level of exposure.

"Plenty of people can play 100 hotshots in one night and produce a great show, and this certainly was both.

"The trick is to keep the business going, not turn wrestling into a short-term supernova that ends as a dead star.

"Tanaka v Awesome was incredible to watch, but kicking out of one powerful insane move after another, and Tanaka taking ridiculously stiff chair shots and getting up makes every far safer shot for a finish in WWE look bad."

Add into that the fact that in any WWE v ECW feud Vince McMahon's group would come off as old-fashioned, scripted and boring - as well as suffering an increase in the frequency of career-ending injuries - and it's quite unlikely we'll see a full-time return.

ECW taking over Smackdown is something many would love - especially as the draft is currently stacking things even further in Raw's favour - but would be seen as too high-risk in a company that is currently doing very nicely.

Taking over one of the WWE's B-shows, like Heat, would carry similar problems to those outlined above and would probably kill ECW in many fans' eyes as a poor third to Smackdown and Raw.

On the other hand to just drop ECW, which has barely been mentioned on TV since One Night Stand, will be equally as bad business.

Especially as, buoyed by the tremendous financial success of Hardcore Homecoming, Shane Douglas is set to milk the extreme cash cow even if Vince McMahon doesn't.

And it seems Vince knows this and is preparing for, at the very least, an ECW non-televised tour of his own.

The McMahons already have much of the talent, including Paul Heyman, Rob Van Dam, Tommy Dreamer, The Dudleys, Chris Benoit, Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero and Chris Jericho on their books.

Lance Storm could be talked out of his impending retirement and Tazz is there to provide commentary if not actually to wrestle.

Announcer Joey Styles, who was fantastic at One Night Stand, has signed a two-year contract and Super Crazy and Psychosis made their WWE debuts this week, although without much fanfare on Velocity.

We also hear that Sabu, Mike Awesome and Sandman have all spoken to WWE management.

It's very unlikely those three - who are well past their peaks and best in a hardcore environment - would thrive on Raw or Smackdown.

So the fact Vince is seriously considering hiring them must bode well for all those hoping for more frequent extreme reunions.

One ECW alumni who we'd be very surprised to see turn up on WWE television is the Blue Meanie.

He was busted open for real by JBL on the PPV with Bradshaw angered by some of Meanie's Internet 'shoot' comments, which have obviously become more vociferous in frequency and tone since the incident.

JBL's behaviour was totally unprofessional, but it proved there is genuine tension between those who went through ECW and the stars and writers who consider themselves 100 per cent WWE.

If that tension can be exploited it could provide the ultra-hot angle the original WCW/ECW Invasion never did.

And whatever path the McMahons to decide to take, one thing's for sure.

Everyone's talking about Paul Heyman and ECW again.

We are all very anxious to hear the buy-rate for ONE NIGHT STAND which should be out soon.

Hulk Hogan, his wife Linda and daughter Brooke were spotted at the premiere of Tom Cruise's new movie 'The War of the Worlds" at the Ziegfeld Theater in NYC.  I guess Hogan is in town to plug his new Reality show "Hogan Knows Best".

VH1 to Bow Hogan Series on VOD

By R. Thomas Umstead 6/22/2005 5:00:00

PMMTV Networks-owned VH1 will make its first foray into the video-on-demand space in July with the premiere of its new reality series, Hogan Knows Best, via Comcast Corp.’s on-demand service.

Comcast On Demand subscribers will have access to the first episode of the series, which chronicles the family life of pro wrestling star Hulk Hogan, on July 1, nine days before its VH1 debut, said network executives.

In addition to the first episode of Hogan Knows Best, VH1 is planning to offer other programs, including exclusive music concerts, interviews with the biggest artists and other pop culture and “Celebreality” shows via on demand later this year.

“We’re thrilled to be making our first leap into the VOD arena with partners as strong as Comcast — and Hulk Hogan,” said VH1 general manager Tom Calderone in a statement. “The VOD platform presents many possibilities and conveniences to viewers, programmers and our distribution partners. We expect to present even more VOD programs in the future.”
