AND A PREVIEW OF TONIGHT’s OVW TV TAPING

CHRISTY HEMME'S WWE FAREWELL
and a preview of tonight's OVW tv taping
by Eric Hall

When OVW returns to the New Davis Arena in Louisville, Kentucky tonight, the promotion is coming off perhaps it's best TV Taping to date from last week. Christy Hemme debuted, and so did the Spanish Announce Table in OVW. Hemme looked great (but it didn't save her job), and the Spanish Announce Table didn't fare any better in the end, thanks to Then Boogeyman. And a 3 Way Dance with TV Champion CM Punk vs Ken Doane vs Brent Albright was nothing short of stellar.

There were a few technical problems in the show airing  this week, but it didn't take away from the great show.

The angle where Hemme debuted was great. Cappotelli was in an argument with Beth Phoneix about Cappotelli superkicking her last week. This lead to a brawl with Cappotelli getting stomped by Aaron "The Idol" Stevens, Beth, and Shelly. First, Micki James ran in to save Cappotelli, and was all over Beth and Shelly, but then tried a top rope huracanrana on Stevens, who reversed it into a powerbomb. Then Maria Kannelis, who is very over in OVW, tried to save Cappotelli and Micki, only to get pummeled by Beth and Shelly. This brought out Christy Hemme, who cleared the ring with Cappotelli as the crowd went crazy.

Cappotelli and Hemme, and the Idol, Beth, and Shelly trio did great promos to build up to this week's 3 on 2 Match, which was taped last week and will be a part of tonight's taping.

At the beginning of the TV show, the former "Osama" came out with a table and starting setting it up next to Al Snow and Dean Hill. He said his name is Osama Rodrigues Allihandro, and while his mother is Palestinian, his father is Cuban, so this is the new Spanish Announce Table. He introduced Robbie Dawber, now called Senor Roberto Dawber, as his cohost. Dawber, wearing a sombrero and carrying a Spanish-English dictionary, kept looking up words and would only say "Si!" They teased the table in the Three-Way Dance several times, but no one went through it. Finally, at the end of the show, Osama is on the mic, bragging that no one went through the Spanish Announce Table. From behind the desk, a closet door opened, and Boogeyman stepped out to an enormous pop. Osama ran away, and Boogeyman put Dawber through the table to end the show, with the audience chanting OVW, OVW.

The show-stealer, no doubt, was one of the best tv matches this year,  and a candidate for OVW Match of the Year, as it was the three-way dance for the OVW Title. This was billed as the first Three-Way Dance in OVW history: C.M. Punk vs. Ken Doane vs. Brent Albright. In the first fall, Doane tapped out when Albright locked on the sharpshooter while Punk had Doane in the Anacanda Vice. Doane came back out and shoved both men off the top rope when Albright was attempting a top rope superplex on Punk. Albright took a nasty spill and crashed into the guardrail. The referee counted both Punk and Albright out, but senior official Robert Brisco came out and said in OVW, we live up to our promises, and this match continues until one man emerges victorious over the other two. He also made it No Disqualification, No Count out. After a commercial break, the match continued. Doane came back out later, but Brent Albright locked on another sharpshooter. Punk jumped on Albright and applied a standing version of the Anacanda Vice, while Albright held Doane in the sharpshooter. Doane tapped furiously, and then in a shock, Albright tapped and Punk retained the title. This match went almost forty minutes.

They played up Albright tapping as a huge news event, something that never happened in either his professional or even amateur career.

Tonight will be the followup to the 3 Way Dance, and we'll find out how Heyman writes Hemme out of the show. He may have until next week to figure that out, since she was part of the mixed tag team match that was presumably taped for this week. And what happens next for The Boogeyman in OVW?
