September 3rd aired a 1990 episode of Verne Gagne`s AWA All-Star Wrestling. The show opened up with Lee Marshall and former world champion Verne Gagne. Marshall did not acknowledge when Gagne referred to him about the excitement of today`s show. Gagne mentioned that there was controversy in the money still not being evenly distributed amongst Larry Zbyszko`s team in their one million dollar Team Challenge Series victory. Jake "The Milkman" Milliman was in the middle of it, as he was not being mentioned by the team, but his win is what took Larry`s Legends to the big money prize. Gagne went on to say that there were a lot of irrate people on the team. Jamie Magnum versus Brad Rheingans Rheingans came to the ring to Bachman Turner Overdrive`s song "Takin¢ Care of Business" Magnum made a false claim of his trunks being pulled when his attempt at a lock-up resulted in a Rheingans arm drag. The tall Magnum went to the rope, when he was waistlocked down to the mat. Rheingans went from a headlock to a hammerlock, then the camera showed the ringside area, where Ox Baker appeared with his giant protege The Night Stalker. Rheingans pointed at Baker and took Magnum down with a drop toe hold. Rheingans cranked back on Magnum`s leg, but backed off as Baker`s new man continued to distract Rheingans. Magnum threatened a charge, but Rheingans did not notice. Magnum jammed his shoulder to the mid-section of a cornered Rheingans. After a cornerwhip, Rheingans moved, and Magnum`s charge met only turnbuckles. Rheingans punched, body slammed, then smashed Magnum to the top turnbuckle. A commentating Lee Marshall told his co-broadcaster Verne Gagne, that he loved that move, when Rheingans flipped Magnum in the gut wrench suplex. Rheingans received a 2 on his pin cover. Rheingans covered Magnum`s front, as he reached around with a hammerlock. Rheingans pressed Magnum down for another 2 count. Rheingans whipped Magnum to the mat, and applied a seated arm stretcher. Magnum had his shoulders down, but the referee took his time to administer a count. Rheingans kept the hold as Magnum stood, but Magnum`s boot rake to the face, made Rheingans release. Magnum body slammed Rheingans, then Irish whipped him for a back body drop. Magnum ducked down, and Rheingans sprung off the ropes to cradle him for the count of 3, ending this match in under five minutes. Todd Becker & Red Tyler versus Killer & Psycho of the Texas Hangmen Hangman #1 clubbed Tyler in the corner, and was raked when trying to club back. Hangman #2 clubbed Tyler from the ring apron, then Tyler was clubbed down by the in-ring Hangman. Hangman #1 whipped for a back body drop, Tyler jumped over him with a sunset flip. Becker helped Tyler complete the move with a charging clothesline. Hangman clubbed a tagged Becker in the corner, then distracted referee Gary DeRousha, as Hangman #2 choked Becker in the corner with a bull rope. Becker was held as a tagged Hangman #2 delivered a rib punch. Hangman dropped Becker with a spinning neckbreaker, then Becker was planted with a running power slammed by Hangman #1. A tagged Hangman #2 double ax handled Becker, then both Hangman took turns choking him on the top rope. Hangman #2 flew off the middle rope in the corner, with a forearm strike, as Hangman #1 dropped Becker with a sidewalk slam. Hangman #2 covered, and referee Gary DeRousha counted the 3 for a Hangmen victory. This match was under four minutes. DeRousha and Tyler tended to a downed Becker. The Annihilator versus "Russian Nightmare" Nikita Koloff Annihilator clubbed a cornered Nikita in the back before the starting bell. Annihilator turnbuckle smashed and jammed his shoulder into a cornered Nikita. Annihilator could not corner whip, as Nikita held firmly to the top rope. Nikita clubbed down Annihilator, turnbuckle smashed him, and Irish whipped him for a running back elbow strike. Annihilator was body slammed, kicked in the gut, and flattened by Nikita`s off the ropes flying tackle. Nikita signaled for his finisher, and whipped Annihilator to the ropes, as Nikita charged with the Russian Sickle clothesline. Nikita pressed Annihilator`s shoulders down for referee Sal Corrente`s pin count of 3. Nikita got to one knee, stuck his tongue out and did a bear hug flex. This match was under two minutes. Without a commercial break, the next match began. The Cobra versus "Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko Zbyszko walked to the ring to Tina Turner`s song "Simply The Best" The white masked Cobra extended his hand, and Zbyszko shook it. Zbyszko was easily irritated by fans chanting "Larry sucks!" and having recently lost the AWA world title to Mr. Saito in Japan. He kicked and clubbed Cobra`s back in the corner, then kept pulling Cobra forward by the trunks, for stomach punches. Cobra was snap mared, and pressed to the mat by Zbyszko`s throat grab. Zbyszko hopped up, and came down, raking the sides of Cobra`s mask. Zbyszko kneed Cobra in the corner, delivered a knockdown right forearm, then Cobra almost fell off Zbyszko`s shoulder, midway in a suplex. Zbyszko yelled out to the announcers and crowd, "If you want jutsice, go to Japan and get it!" Zbyszko sarcastically referred to his world title loss to Saito. Zbyszko pressed Cobra back in the corner, then hit him with a spinning heel kick. Zbyszko then went from a front face chancery to a backbreaker. Zbyszko covered for a 2 count, then drilled Cobra into the canvas with a piledrive. Zbyszko covered for the 3 count victory, ending this match in under three minutes. An upset Zbyszko would not let the referee raise his hand. "California Kid" Tommy Jammer versus Tony Leoni Jammer slapped fans` hands at ringside, as the Beach Boys` song "Surfin¢ USA" played. The match started with Jammer headlocking Leoni to the mat. Leoni rolled Jammer onto his shoulders for a pin of 1. Leoni shoved Jammer to the ropes, and Leoni was charged down. Jammer had a moment of confusion, in trying to apply his abdominal stretch finisher. He went for a Russian leg sweep cradle, and pinned Leoni for 3. This match was under four minutes. Tom "Rocky" Stone versus Colonel DeBeers The camera showed DeBeers backstage twirling the end of his handlebar mustache. DeBeers then walked to the ring to Guns `n` Roses song "Welcome to the Jungle" There was a weird edit that showed a crowd from the Showboat in Las Vegas. The match began, and Stone punched and reversed DeBeers` wristlock. Both men displayed impressive agility, as Stone jumped over DeBeers` back and rolled him for an arm drag. DeBeers then jumped up and broke Stone`s wristlock with a flying head scissors. DeBeers went for a cross body press, but Stone moved, causing DeBeers to hit and get caught in the ropes. DeBeers punched and whipped Stone chest first into the corner. Stone laid on the bottom rope, as DeBeers stomped him. DeBeers hung Stone`s next on the middle rope, and DeBeers was ushered back by referee Gary DeRousha. DeBeers charged and sat down on Stone`s back. Dressed pressed Stone down in the corner with a choke, then Jake "Milkman" Milliman appeared at ringside, with a yellow sign that read "Colonel DeBeers is a turkey" Fans in the audience began a "turkey!" chant in dishonor of DeBeers. Stone punched DeBeers down, whipped him for a stomach punch, then knocked him down with a swift off the ropes knee lift. Stone whipped DeBeers to the ropes, and ducked down too early for a back body drop attempt. DeBeers lifted Stone upside down in mid-piledriver position, and press slammed him forward into the mat. DeBeers went away for a moment to look at Milliman parade around the ring, then planted Stone again with a face press piledriver. DeBeers covered, pointed to Milliman and received the 3 count victory. This match was under three minutes. Lee Marshall quoted a line from Shakespeare "hoisted on one`s own petard" to describe the folly of the Destruction Crew in their loss of the AWA world tag team titles. The last minutes of that match against D.J. Peterson and The Trooper (WWE Patriot) re-aired. The Crew double whipped Trooper`s back into the corner, "Mike" Mike Eno body slammed him but missed with a leg drop. DJ whipped Enos for a clothesline, body slammed Wayne "The Train" Bloom, then slammed Enos. DJ then had a suplex for Bloom, followed by one for Enos. Referee Gary DeRousha looked to have signaled for a disqualification on Trooper, but instead ruled that both men were counted out. There elimination occurred in under two minutes form the starting bell. Trooper punched Bloom on the floor, and professional boxer turned referee Scott Ledoux pulled Trooper off. Even though Ledoux was trying to get Trooper away from Bloom, Blanchard went to pull Ledoux away, but Blanchard was punched back by DJ.
