In a major surprising development, CM Punk captured the World Heavyweight title and brought a major title to Raw. He cashed in his Money in the Bank title match and pinned Edge, right after Batista brutally attacked the Rated R Superstar. Punk had his first successful title defense when he pinned JBL in the main event after distraction from John Cena and Cryme Tyme.
Kofi Kingston beat Chris Jericho by DQ to successfully retain his new Intercontinental crown, and Jericho challenged Shawn Michaels to a match at the Great American Bash.
