Another note from Chris Cruise.....

Georgie:

I read the Sports section of USA Today this morning and on page 5C saw the following about whether Congress should look into steroids in sports. It backs up what I wrote to Jim Ross a few days ago:

Critics have wondered aloud whether Congress has more pressing problems. Thomas Mann, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, doesn't think so. He says the government is big enough to multitask and says the committee has been productive in the last year.

"They don't have anything to apologize for," Mann says. "They are capable of dealing simultaneously with a range of topics."

Stephen F. Ross, director of Penn State's Institute for Sports Law, Policy and Research, says Congress is doing the right thing: "This is about public policy toward drugs in sports. Millions of Americans care deeply about sports. If fans are upset about this issue, it's a legitimate use of Congress and not a waste of time."
