Pro Wrestling Press Release:

Dan Severn’s Pro Wrestling Promotion, “Price of Glory Wrestling” receives fan mail on a regular basis via email.  The most recent one came from Sean Catron, a member of our audience for quite some time now…

Sean Says,
I have always enjoyed Price of Glory shows but I have to tell you that last Sunday's show (Welcome 2 Thrillville) was INCREDIBLE!  The entire show not only showcased the athletic talents of the wrestlers, but told an incredible story.  A few of my favorite things:

  • Mark Pennington- the "Skandor Akbar" of POG.  Teasing us with the prospect of Mark stepping in the ring was fabulous.  I actually saw one fan corner Jayme P. at intermission and beg him to sign a match where Mark has to get in the ring.  Best "evil manager" I've seen since I was a kid.
  • Jack Thriller defeating The Big Andrewski-  I like comedy matches.  Kudo's to both wrestlers. I love how feared the Trapezius Claw is..it as if Jack Thriller has the power to turn back time to 1952 when Claw finishers were still respected by fans ( Jack "Killer Kowalski" Thriller? )  I'd watch Andrewski loose a comedy match every month....
  • Terk Tickler-  The Tag Battle Royal and resulting Tag Team Championship match was great.  But best of all was listening to my Friend Gary, (who can be a really offensive "smart mark" and generally cheers for every heel ) who violently hates Johnny Dynamo cheer his fool head off for Terk Tickler.
  • Noah vs. Sybil- WOW!  I love this feud.  I love how surprised I was by the finish.  I got chills when Jayme P. revealed the swerve.  That was just great writing and great storytelling on all three performers parts.  This match should used as an example to other promotions on how you take a really basic match and make it both exciting and significant.  Sybil's "timid" wrestling style made Noah seem all the more savage.
  • Triple Threat #1 Contender Match-  Three amazing wrestlers who I am always excited to see tangle, made even better by an exciting "evil referee" screw job.  And again, great use of Jayme P. to come in and serve as the deus ex machina to set things right again.  I like Jayson Quick carrying around the Glory Cup and reminding us that he has it.  It adds prestige to the tournament since the winner gets a year of bragging rights.
  • MAIN EVENT-  First, it was nice to see the Chaotic Championship as the main event.  It lends a little more significance to the belt.  Second, N8 Mattson is so much fun to watch as he seems capable of anything (high spots, submissions, chain) Finally, Frick'n' DOLLAR!  I admit I have never been to sure what I think of Dollar.  He is not quite "evil" enough to make me really hate him.  His "professional towel boy" is great stuff, but Veasy is so comically pathetic as to make him almost likable.  But what a match, what a grand finale for the night.  The match seemed so unpredictable and very intense.  And the finish had real tension.  I think the fans knew that Dollar was going through the table, but that wasn't important anymore as the question was could he go through the table?    A great moment where the unpredictability of a live event created more tension than a room full of Hollywood script writers could have ever brought to bear.  Of course when Dollar did hit the table it was so brutal.  Please thank Mr. Dollar for putting his health on the line for my entertainment.  I will make sure I boo him much louder he makes his way into the POG Sportatorium.

When that show comes out on DVD, I'll buy an extra copy to pass around to my friends.  POG has set the bar higher and if the shows keep looking like this people are really going to start talking.  Thank you so much for the best $8 I've spent in a long time.

Sean Catron

From all of the wrestlers and staff of Price of Glory Wrestling, thank you Sean.  Thank you for letting us know how you feel and trust us… the next show will be twice as good as “Welcome 2 Thrillville.”

Mixed Martial Arts Press Release:

Congratulations go out to Rashad Evans who defeated Brad Imes on November 5th to become the “Ultimate Fighter” in the UFC Heavyweight division.  Check out Rashad’s website at www.rashadevans.com and learn about this amazing fighter.  On his main page it states:

“When Dana White called Dan Severn looking for Heavyweights to compete on the upcoming TUF Season II the first words out of Dan's mouth were Rashad Evans.... Although light for the heavy weight division (225 lbs) Rashad brings explosive power combined with solid wrestling base to the table. In his first professional fight he arm barred a seasoned MMA vet Dennis Read in: 50 seconds.  Dennis can fight at 185# but
Severn believes that because Rashad is so advanced athletically that he will make it into the finals.  What we believe is going to impress people the most about Rashad is not his ability to fight but the professionalism he brings to the table. With or without fighting Rashad has a very bright future ahead of him. Ranked #5 for most takedowns in NCCC history, he wrestled at Michigan State and graduated with a degree in Psychology.”

We hope to hear from Rashad soon to hear about how he is doing and what his current plans are.

Also, Don’t miss our first show in
Lafayette, Indiana on November 19th 2005 at the Riehle Bros. Tavern at 8:00pm.  Tickets are online at www.dansevern.com.  If you need anymore information on this event, please email us at [email protected].

Michigan Sports Camps wants more people for our Mixed Martial Arts classes.  On Monday & Wednesday mornings (10:30amNoon) … Tuesday & Thursday nights (7:30 – 9:00pm), we are looking to fill spots for training.  Remember, these classes are at your own pace and you will not be required to participate in all of the activities.  Our classes are mainly used for technique (much like a martial arts seminar) and self defense.  If you are a fighter looking to prepare for your next fight and want to train with “The Beast,” we can step up the training for you personally to fulfill your needs.  This is a class that not many people know about and should take advantage of.  Give us a call if you are interested (517) 278-4908.
