Don Tony And Kevin Castle Show WINS 2008 Wrestling Radio Show Of The Year!

Before anything, God Bless all the passengers, Pilot Chesley B. Sullenburger, and the crew of US Airways Flight 1549 who survived the Plane Crash that occurred Thursday afternoon. And our utmost respect to the NYPD, NYFD, US Coast Guard, and everyone else involved in the rescue. We reside in NY and know that area well. It is surreal to see this up close and personal, and truly a miracle everyone survived.

Now onto Wrestling. We are very humbled, and proud to announce that the Don Tony And Kevin Castle Show has won the award for 2008 Wrestling Radio Show Of The Year! The show received a staggering 82% of the votes, beating out 12 of the top wrestling shows on the net.

Every listener that has enjoyed our show, Don Tony and Kevin Castle applaud you. Without your support, we wouldn't be doing this show. With the exception of a few, Lord knows many shows online has been wishing our demise since day one.

The one thing that eats those hosts inside like battery acid, is the fact that we don't do interviews, yet The Don Tony And Kevin Castle Show has tens of thousands of listeners. Many of these shows think that doing countless interviews from Hulk Hogan to Triumph The Black Cigar Dog generates listeners. That is so far from the case. As we have said before. Go to www.quantcast.com and enter the domain of other wrestling radio shows on the net that try to get 'in your head' and claim they are huge. You'll see quickly that they don't even generate 500 listeners to their show. Some shows online don't even draw 50. And a few that will claim are huge, don't even draw 10. It's well documented.

Then you have a few shows that interview wrestlers with the thinking that they could become their friend. One host bragged that he went around his school and showed students he had Steve Austin's phone number in his cellphone.

When we started the Don Tony and Kevin Castle duo, we had one goal in mind: To do a show that not only focused on wrestling, but discussed the real world as well. And our style is totally unique because we always do the show as if we were talking to a bunch of friends. We don't sugarcoat anything. Good or bad, we treat everyone like a human being. Some unfortunately think that because they were larger than life on TV, that they can escape criticism when they do hideous things (IE: Exposing themselves during a wrestling show then ripping the net but not the people he claimed 'drugged' him)

We take pride most of all in our wrestling analysis. Our track record speaks for itself. From the idea we pushed for months to TNA that they needed a secondary title, to our prediction of a bald Vince vs Trump angle at Wrestlemania a month before it was even discussed. Not to mention all the stories we have broke exclusively on the show. Stories like Perry Saturn hiding from tax liens, debts, child support, and more. We reported a month before anyone else that Christian, Tomko, Gail Kim, Low Ki, and others were going to WWE. The shows are online, they are documented. We can list so many more examples. But do we really need to 'sell ourselves' in this article? We won the 2008 Wrestling Radio Show Of The Year!

I want to thank Wrestling-Radio.com for giving wrestling fans a place where they can find dozens of top wrestling related podcasts on the net. We appreciate all the work they have done to help introduce wrestling fans to shows like ours. They are the 'Yellow Pages' for wrestling shows.

Most of all, we want to thank every person that has enjoyed our show. It is so humbling to have fans every week from the UK, Norway, Germany, Japan, China, and other countries wake up in the wee hours of the morning just to hear us live. Of course a huge thank you to our listeners coast to coast. Even you nutjobs in our chatroom every week! It is also very humbling to have some within the wrestling business privately contact us over the past year praising our show.

A special thank you to Georgiann Makropoulos at www.Wrestlingfigs.com and Sean McCaffrey at www.DeclarationofIndependents.net. Everyone should be supporting their sites; they are good people. A huge thank you to Anthony 'Missionary' Thomas for his creativity. His media work is exceptional, and has helped us immensely over 2008. We cant forget everyone who has brought Don Tony signs to so many WWE and TNA events. We also want to thank Pitt Beerman and Deadpool for everything they have done behind the scenes for the show. Even though we won this award, we really feel this show can get so much better. We have only touched the surface what we can do, and we will continue to stride to make it bigger and better. Should we 'invade' the WWE Universe next?

I do want to make one comment about another website that is doing their own version of Wrestling Radio Awards. Even though we are nominated there as well for Show Of The Year, we really want to send you guys the proverbial middle finger. And we mean that more in a lighthearted way. But for our listeners that wondered why we sh** on their awards from the start, its because of an email I received from the person that runs their awards. The email flat out admitted that their awards are more for 'fun' and to 'entertain' the hosts of several shows within their friendly inner circle. That is a joke.

We do our show to entertain the fans, and to give back to a sport that has entertained us for decades. So to have people weekly tune in for three hours every week to hear us ramble, that is the greatest award we can ever have.

Winning the 2008 Wrestling Radio Show Of The Year to us is the acknowledgement that you the wrestling community likes what we do. And from the bottom of our hearts, we thank you.

Anthony 'Don Tony' DeBlasi
Kevin Castle
