Greetings from Tampa!!
I came down here on no sleep to go to my first FCW show in Florida. The reason was to see Drew McIntyre. I worked the night before and was up all night and went right to the airport. After 4 1/2 hours of flying, I met my friend Heather in Orlando and drove 3 hours to Punta Gorda. We had to wait in the heat for two hours. I have to say that is the one negative thing about FCW, they never let in Gold Circle members when promised. We were suppose to go in at 5:30 and did not go until 6:30. It was a huge relief when we got the blast of cold air of us.
Heather and I ran into the building and got in line for the Meet and Greet! We were second in line. Byron Saxton and Raquel Diaz were walking around with microphones and talking to fans.
They asked who came the furthest and I said I came from Philadelphia! They ran up to me and could not believe that I worked all night and flew down to Florida just to see FCW action! I told them I have to get my friends to send me DVDs just so I could follow the action up North. Byron asked me who I was here to see and Heather and I both yelled Drew McIntyre! I also showed Byron my DVD collection that I have of Drew (which is now at 27 DVDs).
Byron grinned and said "that if I have that much footage of Drew, I would be able to do an impersonation of him!" Raquel got the entire line to cheer me on and with Heather's help, I did the impersonation, which got a huge positive reaction from the crowd! 30 seconds later, Drew came out and had a huge smile on his face. Needless to say, I was completely embarrassed while Heather kept teasing me!!
When it was time to see Drew, I tried to hide because I was as red as Sheamus' hair but my wonderful best friend had to push me forward to a very happy Drew. He did a double take at first and then broke out a huge grin and said "I remember you, what are you doing all the way here, I know you are from Philadelphia!" I met Drew earlier this year at WrestleMania and gave him a copy of his work in Irish Whip Wrestling on DVD and had him sign a custom scrapbook I made about his career. He stood up and gave me a huge hug! I told him I have wanted to come to FCW for years and I finally had the chance and seeing you was an added bonus. Drew saw my binder of DVDs and was shocked that I had another 16 added to my set! He also now had new material to tease Sheamus about (I gave Sheamus 7 DVDs of his early career). Drew held up the line for 5 minutes talking to me and Heather while he personalized and signed my Scottish flags and Heather's t-shirt. It got to the point where FCW President Steve Kearns told us we had to move. We actually had to get back in line to get our pictures with him. I found that to be very rude but Drew gave us another 5 minutes of his time so it was well worth it.
The show itself was great and Drew wrestled Richie Steamboat. He had to work hard to stay heel because Heather and I were screaming and cheering while waving the Scottish flag!! He was having such a hard time trying not to smile. I loved my first FCW experience and when I come back down in October, I will be going to the Thursday show!!
