with 8 man Tournament…

From the desk of Gabe Sapolsky:

Tonight is a big night for FIP and for me personally. Tonight is the First Annual Eddie Graham Memorial Battle Of The Belts in Crystal River, FL. It will feature a tournament to determine the first ever Florida Heritage Champion.

This isn't just any night for us. It is all in the name of Eddie Graham. To me, this has to be something special. If you study booking everything goes back to Eddie Graham. Every great booker from Dusty to Cornette to Watts to Heyman points to Eddie Graham as a huge influence.

When Terry Funk worked for ROH in 2003 we sat down before the show to talk about the booking of his match vs. CM Punk. Funk immediately started talking about Eddie Graham. Funk went on to give me a long speech about Graham and he taught me a lot of lessons from Graham that night.

Mr. Mike Graham has given us the honor of holding this tournament and show in his father's name. This means we need to deliver a great night of wrestling to honor such an important and influential figure.

Crystal River is a pretty easy drive from Tampa and other major points in Florida. I guarantee you this will be a great night of wrestling.

The seeds are:

#1 Roderick Strong- The FIP World Heavyweight Champion takes the #1 seed. This Florida native wants to become a double champion and win this prestigious tournament. Strong made the FIP Heavyweight Title into a World Title last week in Liverpool, England by defending the title against PAC. Now Strong wants to represent Florida's wrestling history.

#2 Shingo- This Dragon Gate sensation won the ROH World Tag Team Titles from Jay & Mark Briscoe last weekend in Liverpool, England. He also holds the only FIP victory over former FIP Heavyweight Homicide. Shingo is looking to win titles before he returns to Dragon Gate in Japan and the Florida Heritage Title would add greatly to his resume. Shingo will be led by Dave Prazak of DP Associates.

#3 & #4 Mark & Jay Briscoe- The Briscoes are the current FIP Tag Team Champions, earning them the #3 & 4 seeds in the tournament. Will one of The Briscoes take singles gold?

#5 Larry Sweeney- "Sweet & Sour" is currently undefeated in singles competition in FIP including big wins over Colt Cabana, Jimmy Jacobs and Jerrelle Clark. This earns him the #5 seed and his first chance at gold in FIP.

#6 Delirious- He joins Shingo and Jimmy Rave as DP Associate representatives in this tournament. Delirious takes the #6 seed after a huge win over Austin Aries last time he was in Florida.

#7 Erick Stevens- This Florida born and bred talent is looking to breakthrough to the next level in FIP and he knows that this tournament is a golden opportunity.

#8 Jimmy Rave- Last but certainly not least, the fact that a high quality athlete like Jimmy Rave is the final seed shows how deep this field is. Rave has recently made his return to FIP and wants to make an impact by bringing the Florida Heritage Title to DP Associates.

The seeds give the tournament the following brackets:

Bracket A:
Roderick Strong vs. Jimmy Rave
Jay Briscoe vs. Larry Sweeney
The winners of these two matches will wrestle to determine who goes to the finals

Bracket B:
Shingo vs. Erick Stevens
Mark Briscoe vs. Delirious
The winners of these two matches will wrestle to determine who goes to the finals

The finals will pit the winner of Bracket A vs. the winner of Bracket B

The show will also feature a bonus tag team match pitting The YRR of Sal Rinauro, Chasyn Rance & Kenny King vs. Seth Delay, Jerrelle Clark & Canadian Cougar!!!

Be there this Saturday in Crystal River as the history of Florida wrestling is upheld with the First Annual Eddie Graham Memorial Battle Of The Belts!!!
