Funk’s Corner - Acts of Violence in Professional Wrestling

Dory Funk Sr. was enjoying shrimp chopped suey with his family at the Canton Chinese Restaurant in Amarillo, Texas when Iron Mike Dibiase (Father of the Million Dollar Man, Ted Dibiase) happened in the same eatery. Iron Mike approached our table and proceeded to dump my father’s plate of shrimp chopped suey over his head. Police were called to break up the ensuing fight.

In a match at KFDA Television in Amarillo, Texas, J. C. Dyckes interfered in a match between Terry Funk and Rocky Smith (Club Footed Inferno). Terry was so enraged he chased J. C. and his infernos right out of the television station into the parking lot. When they jumped into their car and tried to leave the parking lot, Terry threw a brick through their front windshield. Terry returned on camera and laughed about the incident. Five minutes later police appeared on camera to give Terry a citation for disturbing the peace.

In a match in Amarillo, Texas, Terry and I against the Von Brauners managed by Saul Wiengroff, Saul got involved in the match and we beat the Hell out of him sending him off to the hospital in an ambulance. An hour later with the match still in progress, Saul returned from the hospital with rags soaked in chloroform he had stolen from the hospital. Saul gassed Terry, myself and half the wrestling fans at ringside.

In order to distract my father, Dory Funk Sr. in an important match against Sputnik Monroe, Iron Mike Dibiase stole the keys to my father’s new Cadillac sports sedan. In the middle of the match, Iron Mike pulled dad’s new Cadillac into the sports arena, honked the horn and took an ax to the hood of the car. Dory Funk Sr. left the ring and was counted out leaving Sputnik Monroe the winner and new Western States Champion.

Sinister Minister and Abyss have taken it one step further. First in stalking Christian Cage’s wife and then attacking Christian at his home. Sinister Minister is a genius and master of mind games. I will never forget his words on iMPACT! spoken to Abyss as Christian was beaten and drowning in his own backyard swimming pool. “Let him go, don’t finish him off or we will never have a chance at the most prestigious belt in professional wrestling, the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.”

Police were called to the scène of the attack by Christian Cage’s wife Denise after the carnage.
