Funk's Corner - The Legend of "ECW ECW ECW"

Texas Barbed Wire Death Match - Promoter and Booker of the Match, Paul Heyman - (First time a wrestling match went outside into the parking lot and returned into the ring for the finish)

Dory Funk Jr. and Terry Funk vs Public Enemy, Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge / ECW Bingo Hall Philadelphia, PA - 1993

After the match, Terry was wrapped so tightly in the barbed wire we couldn't get it off. I thought, "My God we are going to have to put him on American Airlines back to Amarillo at 7:50 the next morning for his flight home to Amarillo bloody and encased from head to toe in Texas Barbed Wire." Fortunately there was an electrician on duty at the ECW Bingo Hall who let me borrow his wire cutters to disentangle Terry from the aftermath of the match with Public Enemy.

On September 22, 2002, Ted Petty ("Flyboy" Rocco Rock) died after suffering a heart attack following a wrestling event. This would effectively end The Public Enemy as a unit, although Johnny Grunge had been semi-retired for a few years after the XWF failed to get a TV deal.

On February 16, 2006, Mike Durham (Johnny Grunge) died in his home after suffering from complications from sleep apnea. A friend tried to get Durham to the hospital in time, but by the time they arrived at the hospital, Durham was pronounced dead on arrival.

Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge are gone but the legend of their wrestling style lives on in the hearts of wrestling fans of ECW.

We have video of Terry and I against Public Enemy direct from the ECW Bingo Hall on our website at www.dory-funk.com.

Tonight, Sunday January 28th Professional Wrestling - Support the Troops 11, Cold War I comes to the Funking Conservatory in Ocala, Florida at 7:00pm.
