We learned late last night that Leo Garibaldi had passed away Monday afternoon at his home in Las Vegas, NV. Then this morning we woke to news of Penny Banner’s passing in her sleep Monday night. Teams announced thus far include Concrete Gorillas, Wild Bunch, Hollywood Brunettes, New Wave, Talent & Money, Wes Grissom & Chip Day, The Technicians, Jeremy Vain & Mr. Adonis, Brodie Chase & Melissa Coates and the return of the Texas Treats. Jeff Lewis vs. Hayden Young in a number one contender's match for the NWA Anarchy TV Title, Shatter (with Jeff G. Bailey) vs. Shaun Tempers (with The Reverend), Todd Sexton vs. Sal Rinauro, Jeff G. MAY 13, 1966 (FRIDAY) – ATLANTA, GA – ATLANTA MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM [P] (Paul Jones – Promoter / Georgia Championship Wrestling) > Chief Crazy Horse defeated Jack Vansky > Bobby Shane defeated Bad Boy Hines > Mario Galento defeated Swede Karlson > Midget Match: Lord Littlebrook defeated Frenchy Lamont > Southern Tag Team Title Match: Enrique & Alberto Torres* defeated Dick Dunn & Willie Garrett > Southern Heavyweight Title Match: Buddy Fuller* defeated Louie Tillet > World Tag Team Title Match: the Mysterious Medics* versus the Infernos ruled a no contest / Notes: Dick Dunn & Willie Garrett were being billed as Midwest Tag Team Champions. Louie Tillet had vowed if he could not defeat Buddy Fuller, he would throw one hundred $1 bills to the crowd at ringside. Fuller had been billed as Southern Heavyweight Champion since March 25, 1966. There were two referees for the match between the Mysterious Medics and the Infernos. Charlie Harben and Leo Garibaldi were credited as being referees on this card. The Medics had been the reigning World Tag Team Champions since they defeated Eric & Karl Von Brauner on March 25, 1966, in Atlanta. J.C. Dykes managed the Infernos. During the match, both teams were in the ring at the same time, and one of the Medics pinned one of the Infernos, while the other Inferno pinned the other Medic. Garibaldi counted the latter, whereas Harben counted the other. Amid the confusion, Garibaldi ruled the Inferno who had pinned the Medic but Harben convinced him otherwise. Dykes reportedly filed a protest with the NWA, and the title was held up pending a review. The rematch ended up being held on June 10, 1966. Enrique & Alberto Torres had been the reigning Southern Tag Team Champions since they defeated the Medics in a tournament final on May 6, 1966, in Atlanta. It was announced that Danny Little Bear would be wrestling on the card on May 20, 1966.
