Results from the June 7
National Wrestling Alliance Showcase/60th Anniversary show in Atlanta, GA, at Philips Arena with a crowd of 2,500-3,000: Mike DiBiase beat Idol Stevens to retain the NWA North American Title, Iceberg (with the Reverend) beat Shatter (with Jeff G. Bailey) and Mikal Judas in a three-way to retain the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Title. Jim Cornette was the MC for the Hall of Fame inductions. They forgot to mention Flair. I kid you not. Tommy Rich vs. Abdullah the Butcher (with John Cheatam) was ruled a no contest, Sean Waltman & Blue Demon Jr. beat Rob Conway & Carl Ouelette, Mike Quackenbush beat Ricky Vega with submission to retain the NWA World Lightweight Title, Los Luchas (Phoenix Star & Zokre) beat the Naturals (Chase Stevens & Andy Douglas) and Real American Heroes (Joey Ryan & Karl Anderson) in an elimination match to retain the NWA World Tag Team Titles, Sid Vicious destroyed Playas Club (Davey Boy Bling & Juicy Justin Corino), Rock n' Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) defeated the Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey & Bobby Eaton with Jim Cornette). Ring of Honor results from Philadelphia, PA, on June 7: Kevin Steen & El Generico over Jigsaw & Ruckus; Claudio Castagnoli over Davey Richards; Brent Albright, Pelle Primeau & Delirious over Adam Pearce, Eddie Edwards & Chris Hero; Roderick Strong over Erick Stevens; Nigel McGuinness over Go Shiozaki to retain the ROH World Heavyweight Title; Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black over Bryan Danielson & Austin Aries to retain the ROH World Tag Team Title; Jigsaw over Eddie Kingston; and Necro Butcher over Jay Briscoe in a falls count anywhere match. The Playmakers, Jason Phoenix and Adam Jacobs, defeated "Wild Thing" Will Owens and "The Memorymaker" Cecil Pleazing. David Young and Veronica Fairchild defeated Maddog Dan Sawyer and Genni Right. Total Nonstop Action’s Slammiversary PPV will be at the DeSoto County Civic Center in Southaven, MS, tonight. Advertised: Samoa Joe defends the TNA World Heavyweight Title against Robert Roode, Christian Cage, Booker T, and Rhino, in a King of the Mountain match, with Kevin Nash as referee; Kurt Angle versus A.J. Styles; LAX defends the TNA World Tag Team Title against Team 3-D; Petey Williams defends the TNA X Division Title against Kaz; Gail Kim, Roxxi Laveaux & ODB versus the Beautiful People; Awesome Kong with an open challenge; the Jay Lethal-So Cal Val wedding, and an appearance by American Idol’s Ace Young. George Steele, Jake Roberts, Kamala, and Koko Ware are expected to appear as groomsmen. United States Wrestling Organization results from Nashville, TN, at the Stadium Inn. Attendance was 66 (CMA Music Festival was going on at the Stadium). New York Gangster beat Convict, Quinton Quarisma & J.C. Crowe beat Dyronic & Justin Spade when Quarisma pinned Dyronic,Se7en (with Charming Charles) beat Psycho Medic (first match in USWO since 2004), Tim Renesto (with Charming Charles) beat Cousin Jason X, USWO Tag Team Champions L.T. Falk & Damien Payne beat Shane Smalls & Lee Cross when Payne pinned Smalls. Post-match, Quarisma & Crowe ran in and beat down the champs, demanding a title match. Andy Douglas beat USWO Champion Mark Anthony (with Charming Charles) by DQ when Charles hit Douglas with his cane. Renesto came in to help attack Douglas until Falk & Payne made the save. The annual reunion of the
Cauliflower Alley Club takes place Monday through Wednesday in Las Vegas, NV, with J.J. Dillon serving as the master of ceremonies. Aside from the usual festivities, several people will be honored for their contributions to the wrestling business. Orville Brown will be honored with the Posthumous Award, which goes to people who, for one reason or another, were not honored by the CAC during their lifetimes. Ron Garvin, Butcher Vachon, Bret Hart, Betty Niccoli, Pat Patterson, Scott Teal, Haruka Eigen, and Steve Williams are also being honored. (Rich Tate)
