Florida Championship Wrestling results from the Jewish Community Center in Port Richey, FL, on February 23: in the tournament to determine FCW Florida Tag Team Champions, Heath Miller & Steve Lewington over Johnny Curtis & Kevin Kiley; Brad Allen & Nic Nemeth over Sheamus & Kafu; Eric Perez & Eddie Colon over Gabe Tuft & Rycklon; Perez & Colon over Allen & Nemeth by disqualification; and Perez & Colon over Miller & Lewington in the finals to win the title. In other matches, Hade Vansen over Chet Douglas; the 7 Foot Giant over Greg Jackson; Mighty Mikey over Sinn Bowdee; Nattie Neidhart & Maryse over Taryn Terrell & Victoria; Kofi Kingston over Chris Gray; Afa, Jr., over Billy Kidman; and Jake Hager over T.J. Frost by disqualification to retain the APW Tag Team Title; Shane Steele over Alex Stone to win the APW US Heavyweight Title; Matt Burns & Supreme over Chad Colt & Taylor St. Cloud; Mike Madden over Evan Force; and Ike Stevens, Psycho Jimmy & the Assassin over Johnny Dollar, Bobby Diamond & Squeaks the Clown. Georgia Pro Wrestling Association results from City Limits Dining and Entertainment in Tifton, GA, on February 21: in the first match, The Marvelous Ones defeated Q-Ball & Iron Wil when Wil turned on Q-Ball; the second match was scheduled to be a midget match featuring Kid Bodydrop versus Enigma but both wrestlers no-showed the event; Psych defeated "The Real Deal" Jake Slater in a fan participation strap on a pole match by reverse decision. Slater had been awarded the win when Chick Donovan, who was commentating at ringside, pointed out to the referee that Psych had the strap first while the referee was down; Donovan won over The Masked Nightmare by DQ when Jake Slater interfered, attacking Chick Donovan; and "Insane" Mike Pain retained the GPWA title in a dog-collar chain match over "Platinum Playboy" Preston Paradise. This was a television taping for OneVision Media Group Channel 96, "The People's Channel". GPWA will return to City Limits on March 6. (Thomas Bugg)

NOSTALGIA

1932: Jim Londos defeated Pat O’Shocker to retain the NWA World Heavyweight Title at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Henry Weber.

1960: Big Humphrey defeated the Great John L. in the main event at the Columbus Sports Arena for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Fred Ward. Chief Little Eagle defeated Krusher Larson by disqualification in the semi-main event.

1964: Bill Dromo & Chief Little Eagle defeated Stan Stasiak & Red Roberts by disqualification in the main event at the William Bell Auditorium in Augusta for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Steve Manderson.

1967: Enrique & Ramon Torres defeated Lars & Gene Anderson by disqualification to retain the World Tag Team Title at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones. Lou Thesz defeated Bill Dromo in the semi-main event. El Mongol, managed by Jack Crawford, defeated Buddy Fuller to win the Georgia Heavyweight Title. Leo Garibaldi was credited as being a referee on this card. NWA President Sam Muchnick was in attendance for this card.

1968: On the “Live Atlanta Wrestling” television program hosted by Ed Capral, it was announced that the Southern Tag Team Title was being held up pending a review of the match on February 23, 1968, between champions Enrique & Alberto Torres and Tarzan Tyler & El Mongol.

1973: On the “Georgia Championship Wrestling” television program hosted by Gordon Solie, Bobby Cash & Arman Hussein joined Capral to announce they had severed ties with Jack Crawford.

1978: Mr. Wrestling #2 defeated Stan Hansen by disqualification in the main event at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones. Tony Atlas & Andre the Giant defeated Ole & Lars Anderson in the semi-main event. Tommy Rich defeated Abdullah the Butcher, managed by Rock Hunter, in a no disqualification match. Also, Nick Bockwinkel, managed by Bobby Heenan, defeated Bob Armstrong to retain the AWA Heavyweight Title.

1980: Mr. Wrestling #2, substituting for Tommy Rich, defeated NWA World Heavyweight Champion Harley Race by disqualification in a title match at the Omni Auditorium in Atlanta for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones. The semi-main event featuring Dusty Rhodes & Wahoo McDaniel versus Terry Funk & Dory Funk, Jr., was ruled a no contest. Ole & Lars Anderson defeated Ivan Koloff & Alexis Smirnoff, managed by Rock Hunter, in a Texas tornado match. Austin Idol defeated Kevin Sullivan in a lumberjack match. Also, Tony Atlas defeated Abdullah the Butcher & the Great Mephisto in a handicap loser leaves match.

1983: Dick Murdoch defeated the Iron Sheik in the main event at the Hara Arena in Dayton, OH, for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Les Thatcher. Stan Hansen & Paul Orndorff and Ole Anderson & Buzz Sawyer wrestled to a draw in the semi-main event.

1985: Greg Valentine defeated Tony Atlas to retain the Inter-Continental Heavyweight Title at the Omni Auditorium in Atlanta for the World Wrestling Federation.

1985: Tommy Rich defeated Rip Rogers in the main event at the Cobb County Civic Center in Marietta for Championship Wrestling from Georgia promoter Ole Anderson. Anderson defeated Scott Irwin in the semi-main event.
