The Matt Cappotelli experience…..

I was one of the lucky people who got to experience the OVW television tapings live last night at the Davis Arena and all I can say is, I'll never look at professional wrestling the same way again. The whole experience of Matt Cappotelli talking to the fans about his brain tumor, and actually literally praying with the crowd was one of the most incredible moments of my life. This was far and beyond anything you will ever see at a professional wrestling show. Not one person in the crowd said or did anything inappropriate. Cappotelli, OVW, the whole way it was handled was a class act and the fans responded likewise.

After the show, I got to spend a few moments with Cappotelli, and it was an honor to do that. He was sincere in his wish that we all look at things from a positive perspective. I told him it was a shame he had to give up the OVW Title, and he told me there must be a higher purpose for what is happening and he was determined to inspire someone or lots of people to overcome what obstacles stand in their way.

To experience this at a professional wrestling show was not what I expected. I am a big fan of the OVW television show, especially since Paul E Heyman took over last year, and I was going crazy when they did the big angles last night. The OVW Tag Team Title deal with The Miz and Chris Cage winning the championships from Seth Skyfire and Chet The Jett was very exciting. The Spirit Squad had a four or five star tv match, believe it or not, with The Riggs Brothers, Danny Inferno, Russell Simpson, and Mikey Batts. There was one badly blown spot in the match, but it didn't matter. The angle they did afterwards, when C.M. Punk attacked The Spirit Squad with the leather strap brought to OVW by Brent Albright, and then Albright delivering a halacious beating to Punk, was great. Their feud is red hot.

OVW Owner Danny Davis, tv writer Paul Heyman, and the man who will always be champion Matt Cappotelli himself deserve a lot of credit for a spectacular night that combined great wrestling action and a really classy deal involving the unfortunate health problems of Matt Cappotelli.
