The 'Stro

The interview starts with a question about ACPW, which Stro sends lots
of press releases to James.  It is one of the many promotions 'Stro
wrestles for.  ACPW has also released a DVD of their "Legends" show in
November, where Stro takes part in an 8-man tag match.

David Arquette winning the WCW title was not the reason Stro left WCW.
However, his contract was up and he saw the company's future as
bleak.  As far as David Arquette goes, Stro reckons he was caught up
in a situation that wasn't his fault.  James then chimes in with how
Arquette donated most of the money he made in WCW to Brian Pillman's
wife.

Stro was signed to WCW for 3 years, but only used in the final year.
The rest of the time was spent sporadically at house shows.

On the subject, Stro says that "Eddie Guerrero was a great man."  He
then tells a story about how his ex-girlfriend died of a brain
aneurysm before his WCW run and how praying with Eddie really helped.

Were there any talks about working with ECW?  "Yes," Stro responds.
"As a matter of fact, I was kind of interested in working with the
company after my WCW run."

Stro does have a background in music and theater, which helped with
the Maestro character.  He also has an off and on interest in music,
but has focused on more acting, including appearances on "One Tree
Hill," a Lifetime movie and a couple of episodes of a new tv show for
FOX.

As far as Stro's musical background, he grew up playing classical
piano, which helped with the Maestro character.  He had to brush up on
a few things, since he was a little rusty.  He also had to bang on the
keys to get above the crowd noise.

The Maestro Character that Stro had in mind didn't come out until the
end of the run.  Stro envisioned a more "Phantom of the Opera" type
character, instead of the comedy character early in the run.

Alicia Webb/Symphony was "very nice to work with."  Stro was also
recently reacquainted with her, and lets us know that she has a
two-year old son and that "she's looking great."

There is still interest in the Stro going to TNA, as well as some
talks but nothing concrete.  There is also interest from WWE to

After Stro's WCW run, he "went back to his roots."  He has a
background in amateur wrestling and  submissions.  He's also adopted a
more patriotic aspect to his character, as some of his friends went to
fight in Iraq.  He also does a couple of new finishers, including a
"Liberty Lock" (Nagata Lock III) and a bearhug DDT called the "SDT."

Stro has gained more muscle since his WCW days and can now do more
power style moves.

The conversation turns to Naudia, the "Queen of Pain" and one of
Stro's former students.  He calls her a "rare breed" and puts over the
fact that she's strong and wrestles men as well as women.  When the
fact that WWE is turning models into wrestlers, Stro compares Naudia
to a "female Bradshaw."  Stro then mentions her website:
www.geocities.com/naudiaweb.

The next topic is Jimmy Valiant, who mentions Stro in his book.  "I've
known Jimmy forever" Stro says.  "We've wrestled so many shows and
he's always had good advice for me."

The Stro is the grand nephew of the original "Gorgeous George" Wagner.
The conversation turns to James Brown, who knew the original
"Gorgeous George," and Ernest Miller, who had a feud with Maestro in
the latter part of his run.

Word Associations:
Shark Boy:  "Great Talent and hard worker."

Buff Bagwell:  "Very entertaining and one of the most charismatic in WCW."

Brian Christopher:  "Jerry Lawler's son and always a solid wrestler in
the ring."
