IWF Desperate Measures Weekend Hits West Paterson August 18-19-20:

(WEST PATERSON, NJ)- Its been said that desperate men do desperate things. Therefore, desperate time’s calls for Desperate Measures Weekend presented by Independent Wrestling Federation this Friday, August 18, 8:00 pm, Saturday, August 19, 7:30 pm, and Sunday, August 20, 3:30 pm, at IWF Centre, 32 Willow Way, West Paterson, NJ. Here is a preview of the live event extravaganzas.

Day one this Friday, August 18th features an unprecedented 3-on-2 Handicap Tag Team Match with Best 2/3 Falls Rules as Shawn Donavan and Dangerous Dan McGuire unite to battle IWF Champion Kevin Knight, Aaron Stride and Outlaw Shane O'Brien with Commissioner Rich Ross.

Ross is back in office after a month-long hiatus, which saw BoneCrusher Fred Sampson and Franciz control the IWF in July after winning the Commissioner's Cup. Now, the brazen boss is back and plans to soften up former Ross Family member Donavan and finally rid the IWF of McGuire.

In a return match for the IWF American Title, no count-outs allowed as champion Justin Corino tangles with Travis Blake with Rich Ross. This month on IWF Eruption Webcast, Blake scored a win over Corino via count-out thanks to the underhanded assistance of Outlaw Shane O'Brien. Corino demanded the nowhere to run stipulation to ensure he finishes off the self-proclaimed Stellar Superstar for the last time. Corino has held the American Title for seven months since January 2006, while Blake seeks his first singles trophy.

The IWF Junior Heavyweight Title is up for grabs as Jana, who became the number one contender last month, meets two-time champion Tommy Trouble. Trouble, who reclaimed the belt last month from Nick Sabre, defends against Jana for his first time in this inter-gender contest.

Speaking of Nick Sabre, he will need to utilize his speed and quickness as the underdog sees action against the 340-pound mastodon Franciz.

IWF Tag Team Champions Latin Revolution, with new manager Eloy Fiesta, see singles action as Tony Torres wrestles Burnin' Mike Durnin, while Antonio Rivera battles Steve Camacho.

In addition, Tom Rinehart faces Frank Scoleri. Rinehart and Scoleri exchanged words after their Eruption loss to Donavan and McGuire, and now they look to settle their differences. Also appearing are referees Matt Bennett & Steve Phillips, and ring announcer Tom Bauer.

On day two this Saturday, August 19th, the main event features an IWF Title Match as for the first time ever one-on-one, Shawn Donavan finally gets his shot at four-time champion Kevin Knight with Rich Ross. Donavan, who won the Tournament of Champions competition this past December 2005, automatically became the number one contender but did not exercise that clause due to being in The Ross Family alongside Knight. After firing Ross in April, he went through Blake, Stride and O'Brien in a Gauntlet Challenge last month to re-claim his top contender status. Can Donavan, who has held American and Tag Team gold, dethrone the kingpin to claim his first heavyweight championship?

In singles action, the popular Dan McGuire meets Aaron Stride, the newest member of The Ross Family. They battled two years ago over the Junior Title, now they square off again with the winner looking to move up the ranks for an American or Heavyweight Title shot.

In a grudge match for the IWF Tag Team Titles, Mike Durnin and Steve Camacho seek retribution against Tony Torres and Antonio Rivera, champions of Latin Revolution, with Eloy Fiesta. If Durnin and Camacho win, they get five-minutes alone in the ring with Fiesta.

Ross has revenge on his mind as his protege Travis Blake takes on Chris Steeler, as the corrupt commish hopes to deliver payback against any and all comers after he and his family members were forced to perform janitorial tasks last month on Eruption while he was out of power.

In another epic tag battle, Jana and Nick Sabre team up to face the formidable combination of Franciz and Junior Champion Tommy Trouble.

Also, rookie Steve Phillips meets the roughneck Outlaw Shane O'Brien of The Ross Family, while Eddie Latham faces Frank Scoleri. Also appearing are referees BPA Barry & Tom Rinehart, and ring announcer Tom Bauer.

Day three of Desperate Measures Weekend is set for this Sunday, August 20th, and the main event is a return grudge match with no disqualifications as Fred Sampson wages war with archrival Franciz. In their meeting last month at Summer Sizzler, tempers flared as both men laid their hands on the referee during their brawl prompting a disqualification. This time, anything goes and there must be a winner.
