IWF "Winter Warfare" Events This Saturday & Sunday in West Paterson NJ:
Recent WWE Performer Fred Sampson Challenges for IWF Title
(West Paterson, NJ)- It's the first event of 2006 and the Independent Wrestling Federation is ready to ring in the new year with a bang! Winter Warfare Weekend takes place this Saturday, January 21, 7:30 pm and Sunday, January 22, 3:30 pm at IWF Centre, 32 Willow Way, West Paterson, NJ. Here is the official preview.
In the main event on Saturday, January 21, the IWF Heavyweight Title is on the line as former two-time champion and recent WWE performer BoneCrusher Fred Sampson looks to regain the title from current four-time champion Kevin Knight of the Ross Family. It was in May 2003 when Sampson captured the title for the first time, ironically from Knight. The two were then partners in Lethal Injection for a year, and are now back on opposite sides of the fence, with the BoneCrusher once again seeking the gold. Knight regained the title from Damian Adams in October 2005.
Former IWF Tag Team Champions 'Hott n Heavy' Aaron Stride and Biggie Biggs seek to dethrone current three-time champions 'Simply Stellar' Shawn Donavan and Travis Blake of the Ross Family. Donavan and Blake won the belts for a record third time by defeating Stride and Biggs in October 2005. 'Hott n Heavy' are the reigning 2005 Commissioner's Cup Tag Team Tournament winners, while Donavan is the reigning 2005 Tournament of Champions winner.
IWF American Champion Outlaw Shane O'Brien of the Ross Family defends against Justin Corino. Outlaw won the gold 10 months ago in March 2005, and looks to extend his reign of terror by turning away the challenge of the popular Corino. Can the rookie upset the ring veteran and claim his first taste of championship gold?
In an IWF Junior Heavyweight Title match sanctioned by Commissioner Rich Ross, three-time champion Dangerous Dan McGuire faces the 350-pound Franciz. Ross, who conducted a weigh-in for Franciz, stated the mastodon tipped the scales at 199-pounds which qualifies him as the challenger. Apparently this bout is payback for McGuire refusing to add his Junior Title to the Ross Family collection of gold back in November.
Members of 'Latin Revolution' will be in singles competition as Antonio Rivera faces nemesis Chris Steeler, while Tony Torres meets rookie Burnin' Mike Durnin. Also, Nick Sabre tangles with rival Radical Robby Morrison with Rick Cataldo.
Day two of Winter Warfare Weekend happens this Sunday, January 22 at 3:30 pm and all the stars of the IWF and Camp IWF standouts will be in action.
