JASON BLAUSTEIN’s LETTER IN RESPONSE TO S.F. SHOW

…..

Here's Jason Blaustein's letter that was sent to my boss, because Jason felt I wouldn't post it, because of my friendship with Mr. Epstein.

Well since I post all the wrestling news on our boards, Jon sent me the letter and here it is posted for you Jason.  But a reply is coming, I must find some correspondence I had with Jason, I just hope I saved it in my filing cabinet.  If not, it will be my word against yours, Jason..

This posting is in light of the San Fran show

Scott Epstein is not part of or associated with Turnbuckle Promotions Inc. Any rumors you have heard from anyone is false. Any advertisements, banners, logos, terms regarding any events that have Turnbuckle Promotions, Inc associated with are fraud and misleading.

Scott Epstein of Publicity Management Service (PMS) was contacted through wrestlingfigs. I emailed this fellow Scott about my idea of running a show on Long Island. Scott thought it was a great idea and how the area was wrestling starved.

When I finally had a chance to meet this man who had a website claiming he had a 30+ year professional experience in bodybuilding and wrestling, I saw in his basement home apartment that he was a Bravehearts patient.

Before talking wrestling and running a show for the community before WWE’s pay per view Summerslam, I told Scott I had the same heart surgery as he did. What I thought was an instant trustworthy friendship has now become a haunted nightmare in which I tried to take the high road out. I asked Scott if he would like to run a show with me and I mentioned I was Barry Blaustein’s cousin. Scott agreed to partner up with me before the incorporation existed and we began searching for venues and talent available. (This started in March) Talent wasn’t booked until late May early June. Scott met me at Sportime and he thought it was a great place to hold it.

Scott advised me that he would have his so called clients come for just air and hotel. This being Tony Atlas, Rocky Johnson, Ivan Putski, Missy Hyatt, Sunny, Billy Graham (if feeling better) amongst others. He also said, as many talent know of him, they would give him better rates, etc.

Scott who’s now calling himself a hired booker was actually promoter of this past event. Scott sent in the press releases to Evan Ginzburg claiming I was the promoter and he was the booker. Scott did not book all talent and Scott booked talent without my permission or authority. The major superstar talent with the exception of Graham all went through me. Lita, Nash, Hall, Funks, amongst others. After the advertised prices came out and were agreed between Scott and myself, Scott took the liberty and told Evan to post an at the door price of $200 and $325. Once advertised I did not want to change anything as fans would continue to bash the light of day out of me. I feel with the lineup announced, more money could have been charged. Everyone thought Scott was in control, and based on what he did without introducing me to his contacts, or letting me handle the situation, that’s what happened. He took control from the outside in.

Scott Epstein was never hired to be a talent booker for our August show. I never agreed to pay his talent, his talent's air, his talents hotels, his vendor’s tables, his vendor’s hotel rooms, his staff hotel rooms, etc. I paid as Scott later on closer to the event told me he ran out of funds because he had a CD that he would be penalized for taking money out. Scott kept booking talent without my authority and since it was advertised on my website I knew I needed to do something about it. I pleased the fans in paying, but in retrospect from reading all the reports both good and bad, (knowing fans know 99% of talent came and one significant cancellation was switched) a percentage unheard of when advertising this many names. I shouldn't have paid any talent that was not booked by Turnbuckle Promotions Inc. Scott did not hold up on his verbal agreement of going 50/50 and now Scott’s buddies and fans are bashing, blaming, ridiculing me for something I didn't do.

Talent that Scott booked I was caught and forced to pay for. Scott is busy going around destroying my name out in the open public. Scott wrote an article about the Valiants home in Virginia and he wrote about his Valiant reunion booking and that he would not stoop to other peoples levels referring to me. Scott did not pay the Valiants as Evan Ginzburg signed off that I paid them. This incident is further explained below.

At the show, I have been told by several fans, that his staff and girlfriend collected money for Dan Severn autographs and others which was owed to me. I was told by Scott not to hire ATLAS SECURITY who I did contact.

Several 3rd parties were hired by or contacted by Scott. I have nothing against these 3rd parties, but from what I know, this is what happened and what transpired.

All supplies, tables, hotels, and many of the airfares were paid for by Turnbuckle Promotions, Inc.

RF VIDEO (Rob Feinstein)- I have contacted RF 4 times to get their story, 4 times no response! They never paid Turnbuckle Promotions, Inc for anything. According to Scott, RF Video paid Scott for tables (not his right to collect money on tables) gave RF a hotel on my guest list (not his right to give out hotel rooms), and sold shoot interviews of talent I paid.

Bill Apter a well-known wrestling columnist was hired by Scott to shoot Q&A sessions. Scott out of the kindness of his heart gave a hotel room on my guest list which I paid and a vendor table. Hotels with guest lists reserved only for talent.

Derek Gordon filmed an event dvd and private Q&A sessions. This was agreed or contracted by Scott Epstein. Turnbuckle never received a copy of this mysterious dvd that was created.

George Napilitano, a famed photographer in the wrestling industry was invited by Scott and given a hotel on my guest list. According to Scott, Scott made an agreement with George that all photographs would be the property of Scott or Turnbuckle. I do not have any confirmation which agreement if any exists. Scott told me he would be selling them on photomax. -

Another 3rd party which will get some of my mouth because they became an addition to the show and a partner…

K&S Promotions- A Promotion Company based out of Long Island that called Scott Epstein if they could help out by doing pickups, hotel runs, and get tables and autographs. When they meant help, they also got paid to do this work by Scott. I told Scott I didn’t feel right having K&S as I wanted a professional security firm (Atlas) Scott told me to meet with K&S at Sportime.

I met with both Ken and Steve at Sportime and they both seemed like nice guys. Steve kept saying he was a huge mark for Terry Funk. Scott hired K&S and gave them 2 tables, money for pickups, amongst other deals that I am unaware of. K&S said Sportime was a good place, but the going back and forth would be difficult. No hotels had 50+ rooms needed to fit all talent. There are also no hotels with a ballroom space to hold this type of show on the South Shore of Nassau County, Long Island, NY. Steve, Ken and I agreed that the hallway in the back would be perfect for fans to wait and line up and that there would be a security guard outside the building, by the door at the end of the hallway, the door going into the entrance way of the gym/party room area, a security guard upstairs to monitor outgoing and incoming traffic, and Steve would control the line going to the left, and that we would let in 40-50 fans at a time and go in through the left.

We also talked about putting the big names at the end so when people wanted numerous items signed it wouldn’t jam up the beginning of the line. Non-VIP Guests were supposed to be on the back wall so when fans exited the line they could go over to the Non-VIP guests, obviously, this did not happen. I had OnlineCOA placed under the basketball hoop when you first walked in. This was switched by Scott for his friend Missy Hyatt. When I asked Scott why he switched tables around and why Missy is located here and causing this huge commotion and jam up, he shrugged his shoulders.

Because K&S offered to help and I met with them and know most of there deal, I feel whether they were asked by me or not to help, they are involved in the line disorganization. Steve was told by several fans that he was not telling fans what to do and limiting the amount of autographs per person. Tickets were also not collected. I have learned my mistake by not ejecting many of the security from the show. I have been told that all security was about to walk out. Scott’s security was not Turnbuckle’s security-

Jasmin St Claire was at the big apple comic con in June when I approached her for the Megafest, but Scott insisted on paying her. Scott said, I am 57 and more trustworthy. Considering we both had funds to book her, that’s all talent cares about. Days before the show after knowing Scott paid Jasmin, she emailed me for a plane ticket after telling Scott and me she would be living in NY. This plane ticket was not my responsibility especially due to the astronomically high prices for day before travel from California. -

Sid Vicious's number and contact were obtained at wrestling reunion in June. I gave Scott the contact because he claimed he was a good negotiator. Scott told me he worked Sid for less than Nash. Day of show Scott who had no right, and according to Scott only, told Sid to stay longer and I would pay. Sid was more then Nash. Once again, I wanted to please fans and stop a potential riot.

The Wild Samoans and Lou Albano were approached by me at one of Afa’s shows in Pennsylvania. I gave Afa my business card and told him I am running a show with his friend Scott Epstein. I never finalized a deal with Afa or Lou. Scott booked Afa, Sika, and Lou. Scott also told me that Afa did not want to do business with me (a youngster) and wanted to go through Scott. Whether this is true or not, I do not know. Afa, Sika, Lou were all paid in full by me with signature confirmation signed by Lynn.

Before I continue, no talent is angry at me and all talent was paid. Declaration of Independents (DOI) does report they saw me paying talent and that I made sure they were paid. K&S’s Ken suggested I get $20,000 in cash to keep my good name, keep Megafest on track and for my own bodily safety. -

On Saturday night when the show ended, Scott walked out on me without a word and Sunday he was not there for mandatory clean up. I was told by several of Scott's talent that they would never work with him again.

Scott claimed that Sunny was coming for free and donating 25% of her sales to St. Francis. This was not true. Turnbuckle in return gave Sunny a free table and hotel room. At the show Sunny told me Scott booked her for an unknown amount. I told Sunny what Scott told me and Sunny and her boyfriend said they would work things out with Scott as they knew something was going on. What the final resolution was I do not know. Why it was being reported she came back after LOTR to collect payment is entirely false. -

Sean Waltman was booked by Scott and I was informed by Scott, although never seeing any receipt or documentation (for any of his bookings) that Scott booked X-Pac for a great price and paid him in full. That was not the case when the show came along. Most of Scott's talent, who claimed to be flat rate, started selling their own merchandise and autograph without Turnbuckle’s consent.

Rocky is not upset with me. I have spoken to Rocky about any problems after the event and told him what I have been hearing and that I wanted to hear his opinion. I told him that I didn’t have him waiting at the airport as I did not book his flight. I was told by Scott that Rocky would be driving in from Missouri and that he doesn’t like flying. SCOTT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING ROCKY, BRUNO AND OTHER WAIT AT THE AIRPORT.

Scott said he would take care of booking a bus from NJ, event insurance, tables and chairs, Polaroid Cameras, etc. He did not take care of anything. The only thing on his mind was book talent amongst talent amongst talent. Everyday was a new addition to the lineup and a new deposit check going in the mail. Scott put up $10,000 for Megafest. When Piper canceled Scott told me we have a problem and have big shoes to replace. Once again, I stepped forward and made some calls and research. Scott told me he was getting RVD and Ultimate Warrior. I told him this will never happen. What did I do for the show? I get Lita who’s a bit difficult to deal with, Scott Hall, Marty Jannetty, Rosey, Pat Tanaka, and later on Jimmy Hart, Rikishi and a Jesse Ventura cancellation which became Mick Foley. Scott Hall created an NWO Reunion. Jimmy Hart created a Funk Reunion as well as many other managerial positions, Jannetty created a New Rockers reunion as well as tag-team champs with 1-2-3 Kid. Rikishi and Rosey formed a Samoan family reunion and Headshrinkers reunion. Pat Tanaka was a talent who hasn’t done much in the Northeast and Pat persuaded Marty to un-book himself from a show up in Ontario, Canada. By getting Talia Madison, Gregory Helms surprise appearance created a Tag Team reunion with Rosey. I did all these additions with the greatest intentions to spark more interest in the show. -

Scott also claimed he would get many donations of wrestling items for the Bravehearts auction. This also did not happen, as I have wrestler's statements that Scott declined to accept the items and told them there was no auction.

This was an email sent to Lou Albano’s niece.
When we ran the auction for St. francis at the event, I thought Lou was going to donate one of his shirts as discussed at the Penn Plaza show. Was this given to anyone at the show?

Kami Albano responded-

1 i asked Scott 3x and he said there was no auction?????i even offered to give it to him at the hall of fame dinner in NJ
Kami

Talent that I booked did donate items to the auction. Items that received bids at the show and online were accounted for and all proceeds went to St. Francis. The scan of our first of 2 checks dated 3 days after the show is below. We have sent a letter to St. Francis asking for a letter of thanks.

Scott also said as a Publicist for PMS (publicity management services) that he would "promote" the show and get sponsorships. Scott advertised National Gym Association (NGA) as a sponsor, yet a check was never received in Turnbuckles name. I contacted NGA and Andy Bostinto, President claims he hasn't spoken to Scott in 25 years.

- Back in June Scott’s ex-father n law world known bodybuilder Dan Lurie paypaled me a large amount to give to Scott. Dan lives 10 minutes away from Scott. Why would this need to be done through my paypal account? I wish Dan Lurie would contact Turnbuckle and clarify this payment. -

Scott also decided to put his name on the event posters. However, below are emails sent to me and the printer how Scott ordered a select amount of photos, which Scott was liable in paying. The poster was originally TurnbucklePromotions. Scott continually mentions to talk about a show 2 months ago and still claims he was a Hired Talent Booker. Scott, refused to sign a contract when he verbally agreed to go 50/50.

Suggestions for poster
1. Turnbuckle Promotions should be 2 words
2. Turnbuckle Promotions font should be bigger
3. Above Turnbuckle Promotions in small font should say Jason Blaustein & Scott Epstein's .........
4. Shouls have the Inc. after it

Scott and I agreed that 18x24 was the best size as 16x20 would have been to small and 20x36 was to big. -

Scott is now calling himself a hired talent booker, yet he put himself on the event poster to "promote" his name and get recognition and he also admits he’s my partner.

Hiya Bill,
Thanks for dealing with Jason Blaustein who is calling himself my "partner". While I am involved and helping him do this I just want to remind you he is a young kid (I think around 22) and a mark who has som e money to flash. He is fully legitimate however and means well. I am meeting with him most of the afternoon on Wednesday when we will come to the final decisions on the bookings of people. I will call you then for your people and make arrangements to finalize whatever needs to be done such as 50% up front etc.

I am allowing him to utilize my many contacts too as I do feel the locale he is talking about is wrestling starved and I feel it should do well.

Thanks again for all of your help. I personally appreciate it.
Very truly yours,
Scott Epstein

Evan Ginzburg is the Valiants agent. I never booked the Valiants and never requested the Valiants. Scott booked them using a letterhead with the Turnbuckle name (without my permission and consent) and told Evan I would pay. At the show I told Evan, Scott will pay as I didn't do business with you or the Valiants. Scott then came up to me and told me to pay or he would take his talent to a different venue. This was a threat to me and the show.

I never issued 40 free general admission tickets and 3 vip tickets for Georgie of wrestlingfigs to post. Georgie never had Turnbuckle’s consent to post any free giveaways. I did not email wrestlingfigs to pull it down as I did not want any other emails bashing the show and fans wondering why Turnbuckle had wrestlingfigs remove a giveaway. Scott told me Georgie had over 300 people emailed her for the giveaway. Georgie is only nitpicking me when she wasn’t even at the show.

I had 10 cases of cold water and I have photos of talent having water. “Georgie, I hired Mother Kelly's for a reason. Food and Beverage was available all day”

DIRECT FROM GEORGIES SITE (LINK PROVIDED)-
"Make sure you have enough people to handle all the EXTRA work that is involved. Such as making sure the wrestlers are picked up on time, getting them to the Hotel, getting them back and forth to the event, etc. I don't think people realize all the work that is involved. When it's hot, just bringing the wrestlers bottles of cold water, is a nice thing to do"
https://wrestlingfigs.com/inner2.php?id=5422&page_id=1  Again I'll state, K&S wanted to take control of pickups. Scott hired minimal security after telling me not to hire Atlas Security.  I had hotel guest lists which were given to the hotels. Names were switched and talent taken to different hotels. While booking rooms, I called Scott and asked him where to place the big boys (Nash, Hall, Waltman), and he said, they are party hardy fellas and they don’t care where they sleep and told me to place them in such and such hotel. Hotels have issued statements that Scott changed room bookings. -

I had all rooms booked for talent and guest lists were provided to hotels. Turnbuckle guest lists were changed to people Scott booked and his friends and what became a gossip story how I didn’t have enough rooms, when I did have enough.

Before the show, Scott refused to meet with me and kept making excuses how he was busy, sick, injured, etc. Scott decided to skip a meeting to go to a Camp Coleman Basketball game. -

Nash's pickup and all other pickups were coordinated by K&S. I will not take blame for pickups or drop-offs. K&S wanted the responsibility. Do not yell at me or my family as you had NO RIGHT TO BE AT MY SHOW. K&S got autographs for free, tables for free, Polaroid film paid by Turnbuckle for free etc. You told me to be the man, but it was impossible as anything that we agreed upon didn’t happen and the whole setup was changed around. Tables moved around, the line going to the right and not the left, disorganization of talent lined up. I had blue prints and table mats placed for each vendor and guest which were removed.

On Wednesday and Thursday before the show, Scott decided not to show up to help setup. Bill Brown, Ken, my family who was called in from PA in emergency and Jared from LI Shopping magazine all helped setup. Ken and I made table mats and blue prints and agreed where talent should go and how the line formation would work. Ken was not part of line control. Steve was. Ken and Steve were fighting during the show, I do not know why. K&S and the staff they hired took guests to the wrong hotels. The blame should fall on the one who hired them and will be assumed responsible. I showed and agreed with K&S on how the line would flow and how it would rotate for the 3 sessions, they knowingly knew they didn’t have to listen to me. They weren’t working for me, they were working for Scott. They only followed Scott’s commands as after all, they were hired by Scott. -

On Friday Night, Scott asked Mother Kelly’s to put on an after party which became a birthday party for Rocky Johnson. I was excited about this party as Scott kept saying we would have tables setup with show merchandise to get signed. This did not happen. Scott kept telling me the dinner was free and Mother Kelly’s and Scott were great buddies. I asked Mother Kelly’s if the dinner was free and they looked at me in shock. They said no and told me the dinner is $50 a head. I once again asked Scott and told him I know and he replied don’t get involved in my business. During the party which I invited my two friends who were helping me out all day and talent, during the party Scott made a toast and said “On Behalf of Turnbuckle Promotions” There was no recognition of me. -

As far as the lack of cameras at the show goes, I purchased the film. My partner was responsible for supplying cameras. One of my many responsibilities was booking talent and making sure they showed, and judging by the lack of no shows and killer lineup I would say I did a damn good job.

Sika did not show on Friday due to Scott sending a driver to the wrong airport. This driver was one of my friends helping out.

Talent that Scott booked would not sign for me or the mail order items. I was left holding the bag on all mail order items which were not completed because security was all for Scott and not the show. -

The only thing I was guilty of was foolishly working with a man who “didn’t have my best interests” at heart. But even with the backstabbing my show still delivered. Jesse Ventura was the only notable talent that didn't make it, and what did I do? I replaced him with Mick Foley, day of the show creating a CS3Pack signing opportunity for the fans.

Name me another promoter that does that?

Post Event:
My “partner” took many of my contacts which I personally obtained and told Chris Salisbury of wrestlefanfest he's Turnbuckles booker. Turnbuckle wasn't at San Fran as Chris and/or Scott prevented Turnbuckle from coming with other talent. Unfortunately, he wasn't Turnbuckles booker and Turnbuckle delivered on talent advertised. I had Rosey and others waiting to go with me. Plane tickets and everything! Here's Chris's email and Roseys email.

Three contracts were signed with Sportime. The first one was signed by Scott and me for Friday Night and all of Saturday which included the party room, multi-sport and turf field, the second contract, signed by me was to extend Friday all day.

I did not sign the 3rd contract for the tennis courts on friday or satuday. Scott solely signed that contract in which he did not pay up. I also had a turf field room go to waste as I was told I could not use it although I have a contract for it. I began to setup the turf field with Ken and was told to move them to the tennis courts that we had those rooms now which made it more accessible. The tennis courts were never offered to us when we contracted with Sportime.

Severns MMA Seminar on Saturday was canceled due to the turf field room not being utilized.

Additionally, although fanfest has taken down there website, Scott joined the wrestlefanfest family in becoming the talent booker and being called a resource not a complaint.

Scott’s duties were to assist line control and make sure EVERY FAN HAS A GREAT TIME! (Several fans were left in the dark by Scott at my show, when they found me I took care of it) I was at the show, not hiding, hence ability to write reports about my moves and actions during the course of the day. I must be a celebrity getting all the gossip of how poorly managed my show was but all talent showed. They don’t go hand in hand. I had a well planned show and someone took the oxygen out of my lungs and quickly began to destroy my name, Turnbuckles name, and has emailed me calling my family and me crooks. I have not written a report, replied, or mentioned anything to this extent and I feel it’s time that everyone sees and reads what really went on.

Regarding Printing- The printer did not send photos until 3 days before the show and day before the show. During the show I received many packages of photos. Hence, I could not organize packets of photos and tickets in time for the event. I printed out glossy photos off cvs.com. One set was given to Scott (to approve), one set was sent to the printer to reproduce. Scott ordered 3,000 posters and hundreds of photos, I ordered the rest that I thought was needed based on 100 already for vip plus, a 2-day event and getting items signed for our website (unfortunately that did not happen). When the printing actually came, it was not organized and not every photo came out nice and all photos ordered were not delivered. Dan Severn photos and tickets which I ordered 500 of were never delivered. The quality of color and paper were also not consistent. -
Jasmin St Claire who did not show had Scott order several hundred photos.

Walkie Talkies which Scott said he would take care of was also provided by Turnbuckle Promotions, Inc. The security lost a speaker microphone which I incurred a lost equipment charge, and I also did not receive a walkie talkie at my own show to communicate with staff who most of them were for Scott. -

For a show that was getting heat before it happened and claimed there would be tons of no shows, and a show that delivered to still get the heat. I did my part at making sure talent was taken care of. I will not stand down to anyone regardless of age, race, looks, intelligence, degree, prior work experience, etc. Reports say I was hiding and running scared. Other reports say I was collecting autographs. Other reports say I was paying talent. Each report says something different. However, the turmoil should fall on the individual and his 3rd party army being the culprits of disorganization. Steve, you can't run a line, if the line runs you. People were telling you how the show was supposed to go and limit the autographs per person. You just let the fans have there way. Steve, you were the man in charge, you wanted to be the man in charge. Next time I’ll know at my show, my staff, and my talent. None of these disastrous episodes of events will happen again. This show has taught me an extremely valuable lesson for next time and will never happen again. -

This long awaited report while I was trying let things settle was written to stop the lies, rumors and slanderous remarks. Scott claims I have tarnished his reputation and prevented him from working. Since the show, Scott was involved with Signmania in Pennsylvania and telling one of the vendors about me and saying nasty words, wrestle fanfest in San Francisco, and is also involved in the upcoming Philadelphia show and Big Apple Comic Con.

Turnbuckles show should not be compared in the same breath to fan fest. For the price we charged, and for the amount of talent advertised (and showed), even if you met half, you still got more then any other show.

Thank You for reading, listening and being a Turnbuckle fan,

Jason Blaustein - President,
Turnbuckle Promotions, Inc
