Pro Wrestler Jeff Hardy Still Faces Multiple Drug Charges

Professional wrestler Jeff Hardy still faces all his previous drug charges despite web rumors that some were dropped.

A report by Mark Satrang that appeared on examiner.com claimed a Superior Court source had confirmed all but one charge had been dropped.

That’s not so, says District Attorney Maureen Krueger.

“His charges are still pending,” Krueger said Tuesday. “In fact, a new one was added.”

Hardy and his attorney, James Van Camp of Pinehurst, were in court June 3 for the morning administrative session, but a full calendar filled the available time and Hardy’s case was not reached but instead (reportedly) continued.

No charges were dropped. The new charge is for conspiracy to traffic opium, a serious felony, despite web reports, for which he was recently served.

Moore County sheriff's deputies arrested Hardy last Sept. 11 after a tip led to a search warrant for his residence on Camp Easter Road. The search turned up approximately 262 Vicodin prescription pills, 180 Soma non-controlled prescription pills, 555 milliliters of anabolic steroids, a residual amount of powder cocaine, and items of drug paraphernalia, Sheriff Lane Carter said.

Vicodin and anabolic steroids are included in Schedule III within the North Carolina Controlled Substances Act. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $2,500 according to the sheriff’s office.

A new date for Hardy's trial has yet to be set.

Hardy, 32, and his brother, Matt, wrestling as the Hardy Boyz, were six-time World Wrestling Entertainment World Tag Team Champions. Individually, Jeff Hardy held the WWE World Champion belt at one time and the World Heavyweight Championship twice.
