LANCE RUSSELL’S OBITUARY AND FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS

Lance Russell, 91, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. Mr. Russell is best known as the Voice of Memphis Wrestling following his 50 plus year career in the industry. He will also be remembered as an inventive and resourceful television executive and a highly rated disc jockey for WHBQ radio.

He was preceeded in death by his much loved wife of 67 years, Audrey and his daughter, Valerie Houston. Mr. Russell is survived by his two sons, William Lance Russell and his wife Debbie, Shane Russell and his wife Debra, eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and his faithful dog and best friend Buddy. He had a lifelong passion for golf and the inexplicable ability to frighten fish away, which never dampened his attempts to catch them.

A public visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1 p.m., Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis TN 38119, to give Lance one last opportunity to say “Yello Everybody!” In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County.
