Undertaker Book.. Simmons Full Time.. Rap This.. Favorite Clash of Champions.. Steve Largent.. The Mick.. Korean Bar-B-Q.. Janetty Back?.. 24/7 Needs.. Razorbacks

What a week it’s going to be for Ol’ J.R.! With only two Monday Night Raw shows left until Wrestlemania, one has to think that Monday’s Raw in Indianapolis should be hot. Then I fly into Boston on Tuesday to prepare for my appearances at MIT on Wednesday and Thursday followed by an EARLY morning flight back from Boston to OKC via DFW on Friday – only to leave again on Sunday for Chicago and the final Raw going into Wrestlemania. Whew! Plus, there is always Bar-B-Q projects to address including our new line of Beef Jerky which has continued to sell awesomely. I knew I was a big fan of Jerky but I never dreamed so many others were Jerky fans as well! I like to watch my carb intake, believe it or not and Jerky is a great snack. It’s my favorite airplane food I assure you. I hope you will sample all four flavors until you decide which one is just right for you.

Let’s address some of your comments:

Will The Undertaker ever write a book? I think he will but only after his career is over. Taker is a private man but after his career has ended we might be lucky enough to hear his story as told thru his eyes. I would damn sure buy it.

WWE 24/7- I sincerely love it. The WWE is constantly adding new material of which many fans will see for the first time. Wrestling TV shows have rarely gone to reruns and never did back when I started in the 70’s. So that means these shows aired once and were essentially put on the shelf. I wish the WWE could purchase Mid South Wrestling and the UWF library for partially selfish reason but also because it was really good stuff.

Ron Simmons will most likely never wrestle a full time schedule again but I could see Ron in a short term issue with someone and doing other things on TV than simply saying “Damn”. The former FSU Seminole is not a man to be dealt with half-assed.

So the rapper who calls himself “The Game” is looking to rumble with HHH? Sounds like the rapper needs some publicity. I suggest he attempt to produce more hits and not put himself in a position to be embarrassed not that the real “Game” would give him the time of day. Publicity seeking is all this is.

Richie wanted to know if Cena was a rapper or a Marine. I would submit John is simply a young wrestler who works his behind off and who is one of my favorite recruits. By the way, The Undertaker isn’t “dead” as in Deadman nor is Steve Austin a “reptile” as in Texas Rattlesnake. I think it all falls under the heading of marketing and promotion.

Is the WWE in a state of urgency? If the upper management folks are smart, and they are, they will always manage with a sense of urgency especially on the talent side. I always did, which doesn’t make it right, but any roster is never but an injury or two away from a serious dilemma. I have preached a lack of quality depth until I am blue in the face. That statement rings true today and probably will be the same 10 years from now. No company can ever get enough main eventers on their roster.

When asked about my favorite Clash of the Champions I would have to submit that the first one was the most memorable. That was my first real cup of coffee on TBS and I did color along side Tony Schiavone, which led to me becoming the primary voice of TBS Wrestling. Plus, Ric Flair put Sting on the wrestling map in their 45 minute classic.

The WWE is NOT leaving the state of Kentucky because of the athletic commission. Good grief!

Yes, Tim, I have met Steve Largent, who is now in the private sector after leaving politics. Largent lives in Tulsa as I understand it and is a true class act and fine man. I did meet Mickey Mantle and even wrote about it in my 2nd cookbook cleverly entitled, “J.R.’s Cookbook”. The Mick was one of a kind and one of my all time favorite heroes. I have been collecting Mantle memorabilia for years and years.

What’s easier to be a film maker or a wrestler? I have never been around too many film makers, other than Milos Foreman when making The Man in the Moon, so I can’t fairly compare, but I would casually suggest becoming a main event level wrestler is tougher.

I love Korean Bar-B-Q and the ability to cook for one’s self. If you haven’t tried Korean Bar-B-Q - you don’t know what you are missing. Our eatery will feature some unique Bar-B-Q dishes such as Bar-B-Q nachos, Bar-B-Q pizzas, and Bar-B-Q loaded baked spuds, just as an FYI.

Will Marty Janettey ever come back to the WWE fulltime? Not my call, but I would submit that it is doubtful. Marty might make a great teacher though.

Again, if you are interested in working for the WWE in any area, PLEASE contact the WWE corporate website and reach out to Human Resources.

For the record, I neither live on a ranch or a mansion. We have a great home here in Norman but I would not call it a “mansion”. I do own a 190 acre ranch in eastern Oklahoma but rarely get to visit it so I have leased it to a rancher from my home town of Westville, Oklahoma.

The last time I saw Droz he was in good spirits, as usual, but did not seem to have significantly changed physically from the last time I saw him but I know Droz continues with his therapy and holds out hope of continuing to improve. He’s a helluva guy and loves his Maryland Terps.

I have not heard any updates on Muhammad Hassan lately other than he went to Hollywood to attempt to get into the movies. That in itself amazes me as Hassan had no significant acting experience or training that I am aware of which makes becoming a movie star somewhat challenging. The Rock pulled it off but comparing Hassan to the Rock would not be fair to either man.

I never speak for Mr. McMahon. Period. End of story. We do speak, but not as frequently as in years past when I was based in Connecticut. Nonetheless, I know he loved doing commentary – but I would bet he loves being Mr. McMahon even more.

My thanks to all of you from Detroit for the suggestions on where to eat while many of us make the trek to the Motor City in a couple of weeks. Charlie, good info.

The Arkansas Razorback athletic fortunes in the future will largely depend on who succeeds Frank Broyles as Athletic Director. There are issues within the athletic program that need to be addressed. I hope they hire a young energetic AD who has no ties to Broyles or his “good old boy” network. I grew up 25 miles from Fayetteville, so I am a quasi Razorback fan and hope they do well. Losing hoops coach Nolan Richardson a few years ago did them no favors. Thanks to the Walton family who owns Wal-Mart the Hog facilities are excellent.

Stayed tuned. We will have more soon. Thanks for shopping with us and please try our Jerky. You will be glad you did, plus we are selling record amounts of all four of our sauces. Life is good and good food is life.

J.R.
