……

Georgie,

We don't do news, but this is a nice tidbit.

On the upcoming edition of The Brutal Truth, Animal of Road Warrior fame discusses how he is currently in talks with TNA and joining them in the creative department.  Animal would surely be a great addition to the TNA staff, and TBT wishes him the best of luck.

Check that show out on Wednesday, December 5th at

DeBartolo Sports and Entertainment has  signed retired professional wrestler Joe “The Animal” Laurinaitis for  marketing, appearances and entertainment work, which could potentially include  DSE-produced entertainment projects.

“We are going to create a playbook for the Animal that will  allow him to maximize opportunities outside the ring with corporate  partnerships that are relevant and credible as it relates to his significance  as one of the premier wrestlers of our generation,” said Reed Bergman, a DSE marketing executive who recently sold his company, Playbook, to DSE.  DSE was founded by former San Francisco 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo last  year.

Bergman said he plans to concentrate on finding major  corporate sponsors for national and international endorsement deals for  Laurinaitis. “I am looking at current [WWE] sponsors,” Bergman said. “The way I  look at it, you already have a huge captive audience there, whether it’s Subway restaurants or AT&T or Wal-Mart.”
Joe “The Animal” Laurinaitis is dad
to Ohio State linebacker James.

Laurinaitis, in a statement, said, “My interest in DSE came  from its involvement in the sports and entertainment industries. Generally  speaking, as a wrestler, all marketing appearances and promotion are handled by  the organization. After my retirement, it became necessary for me to have  representation to grow and maintain my identity as Joe the Animal.”

“Joe is the type of personality that is being sought after for reality-based shows,” said Brian Kopp, DSE assistant general counsel  and executive vice president of operations. Kopp declined to elaborate further  on DSE entertainment production plans.

The signing of the wrestler raised some eyebrows in the NFL  agent community, because Laurinaitis’ son, James Laurinaitis, is a  junior linebacker at Ohio State and is expected to be a first-round draft pick  if he makes himself eligible.

Under a new rule passed by the NFL Players Association,  agents are forbidden from talking to juniors until after they declare for the  draft. DSE employs a number of NFL player agents, including veteran agent Ralph  Cindrich.

“I want to be absolutely clear about this: Our agreement is  with Joe Laurinaitis,” Kopp said.

“Uninformed people may question this relationship, but we  brought it to the attention of the NCAA compliance [office] that we are  entering into this relationship with Joe only.”
