…..
Today my wife and I attended the Pro Wrestling Supershow in Lodi, CA.Overall I'd give the show a thumbs up. I did have a few complaints,
but on the whole it was a fun time and everyone seemed happy.
I felt the tickets could have been explained clearer on their website
- www.buyfrommilos.com
I flew up from Burbank, CA for the day and couldn't stay for the night
show so I purchased the $70 package that entitled me to an autograph
from a set list of guests. What WASN'T on the website was that photos
with each guest were going to be $20 each in addition to the
autographs! Also, I was told on the phone that if I had that
autograph ticket my admission to the 'trade show' portion of show was
included. My wife would have to pay $5. Great. When we got to the
event I wound up having to pay $5 as well. I think the guy I spoke to
on the phone thought I said SuperTicket and he was confused. Fine,
but NOWHERE on the site did it mention there was an additional $5 fee
for just getting in.
The event was well organized I felt. There was a clearly laid out
schedule of who was signing and was taking pictures. The photos and
autographs were taking place in two different areas and there was more
than enough staff on hand covering all areas. The venue was great.
The highlight of the trip was meeting George "The Animal" Steele. The
man is 72 and simply the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet. He took
his time with everyone and was just the best. We paid $20 to get the
photo with him and there was some initial grumbling that we wanted to
take a picture with our camera AND with the event's camera. They were
going to ask for another $20!! But George said no way and we got two
pics for the $20.
We got signatures from Ted DiBiase, Dr. Death, Tito Santana, Honky
Tonk Man, Greg Valentine and Eugene. Everyone was nice and friendly.
I got my classic Intercontinental Belt signed by those who held it and
my Filsinger Games Legends of Wrestling cards - www.FilsingerGames.com
- signed by those who had cards. I'd met these wrestlers before and
got pictures with them so I didn't feel the need to spend $20 apiece
to get more. Had they been cheaper I might have.
TerriRunnels was there as a vendor guest and was very nice though she
simply could not understand why I wouldn't pay another $5 to get an
autographed 8x10 when all I wanted was a picture with her. (I'm being
very specific in what I collect - LJN MOCs and a few other specific
things - so all I wanted was a photo with her, not an 8x10.)
My final gripe with the event is that when wrestlers moved into the
Autograph area people were taking pictures with them without paying.
Now I know George Steele was doing this to be nice, but then why did
we pay $20 to get the photo before? We could have waited and got it
for free when we got the autographs.
I will say though that it was actually worth it to spend $20 to get
almost 10 mins one on one with George. He really is a treasure! He
was using a cane to get around because he apparently fell in the
airport on the way out here, but he was getting around pretty well
otherwise and the man's got a GRIP!
They did say it was the first 'annual' event. I would happily go to
another one if they had it, especially since I know what to expect now.
Looking forward to the Big TIme Wrestling event in May. Last year's
was a blast and I'm looking forward to this year's show.
Thanks!
