FROM THE GERWECK REPORT HOTLINE…

Luna Vachon interview highlights from the Gerweck
Report hotline:

- Luna says the release of her husband, Gangrel (David
Heath), was very hard to accept because David was in
Ohio Valley Wrestling waiting for a phone call to
return to WWE, not to hear that he was fired. Luna
said it's hard to handle when WWE is having hard times
where they have to cut good talent. Luna says John
Laurenaitis called David and said he was sorry for
having to fire David, but WWE was sticking to a tight
budget.

- Luna says David is one of the better talents in the
country right now. When playing the Gangrel character
in OVW, David received a very strong babyface reaction
despite playing the heel role. Eventually, people went
along with the heel role, but by the end of the night,
the fans would pop for him as a babyface because of
how well he played the character.

- Luna says the Gangrel "vampire gimmick" was a
creation during the time when Vince Russo was head
booker in WWF.

- Luna says it was a shame David was released because
he was helping younger wrestlers coming into OVW by
teaching them the business. Even when he did a job, he
had no problem doing it because his personality is to
help. Luna says incoming wrestlers don't see a loss as
good for their character so they complain and pout
about losing. Many younger wrestlers have a wrong
attitude when they leave OVW, thinking that they're
unbeatable.

- On the topic of the Oddities, Luna says they were
"the worst wrestlers that you could ever throw in the
ring" and Jim Cornette came up with the gimmick. Luna
says there was match the Oddities were scheduled to
have against Jeff Jarrett and Jarrett spent a great
deal of time contemplating how he could have a good
match with the Oddities. Jarrett didn't grumble or
complain about working, so he had one heck of a match
with the Oddities. Luna never had any more fun working
with the Oddities. Luna says the fans had fun with the
gimmick because people got off their feet and had a
good time with the entertainment aspect of the
gimmick.

- Luna says working with Sable (Rena Mero) in WWF
turned Luna into such a crazy person as an extension
of her gimmick. Rena did things to instigate things
Luna so she would snap and people would believe the
gimmick was actually her. Luna said, "Sable knows how
to manipulate people."

- For her match against Rena at WrestleMania 14, Luna
was told not to scratch or bruise Rena or she would
lose her job. Rena was unwilling to take a bump and
management was looking for a reason to fire Luna. Luna
says Rena didn’t know how to do anything in the ring,
so she tried to teach Rena how to take bumps and
protect herself. Rena refused. Luna says their match
came out as one of the better matches on the card
without Rena learning how to take bumps.

- Rena moved into a program with Jacqueline after Luna
left, but Luna says she got her job back because
management wanted Rena to go around the block with
Luna because Jacqueline wasn't as kind working with
Rena. Luna says she tried to protect and work with
Rena despite their animosity while Jacqueline was
stiff in the ring with clotheslines that could cause
your ears to ring for a week.

- Luna said she wanted to be a wrestler from the time
she was 3 years old and she enjoys hard-nosed
wrestling with a solid give and take because she can
handle anything an opponent throws at her. Luna says
women's wrestlers have to give stiffer offense in the
ring because there isn't as much room to do smoke and
mirrors as men are capable of doing.

- On whether she watches the current WWE product, Luna
says she occasionally flips through, but doesn't
understand why there's so much talking. Luna asks
where the wrestling is and wonders how WWE can draw at
houseshows when there's so much talking and not enough
wrestling to promote the shows?

- On the Raw Diva search, Luna says she doesn't see
the point unless the contestants are being trained to
be wrestlers. Luna says it was nice when WWF did a
bikini contest that involved all the female talent -
managers and valets - and the contest had a purpose to
promote the on-air female characters.

- Luna says the current state of women's wrestling is
sad from the little bit she has seen. Luna says Lita
can do fantastic moves in the ring. Luna says Lita can
do so many awesome moves, but the moves don't mean
much and can cause early retirement. Luna says the
women in Japan retire at the age of 26 because they do
so many spectacular moves like Lita, which causes
early retirement. Luna says Molly Holly is a good
example of using spectacular moves for a reason so
you're still telling the story in the ring and not
just for the sake of hitting a move.

- On Lita and Matt Hardy's personal relationship, Luna
says things happen when you go down the road, and
"business is business and pleasure is pleasure." Luna
says personal does not need to be included in the
business and for Matt Hardy - stuff happens.

- On working with Goldust (Dustin Runnels), Luna says
Dustin is down to earth and fine human being. Dustin
and Terri Runnels were good to Luna as was Bam Bam
Bigelow and Tatanka. Luna says Bam Bam would take Luna
and Tatanka to the side after matches and explain what
went wrong and what went well with the matches. Luna
says Dustin was a natural and people don't give him
the respect he deserves for being as good as he is.

- Luna says the best match she ever saw was Bret Hart
vs. Owen Hart in Poughkeepsie, New York where they
never moved from a four-foot radius in the ring and
used counters and with reversals to have a great
wrestling match. Luna says she isn't just a bimbo
wrestler, but appreciates great wrestling.

- Luna says her favorite WWF moment was after a tag
match involving herself, Dustin Runnels, Rena, and
Marc Mero. Luna says she came back through the gorilla
position after the match and no one said anything to
her. Dustin and Mero had done most of the work during
the match, but gorilla didn't say anything or give a
thank you. On the contrary, when Rena went through the
curtain, champagne bottles went off and balloons
filled the air from the guys at the gorilla position.
Luna says she was devastated, but Owen Hart grabbed
her and told her she did one hell of a job. Owen was a
real pro and hugged her while letting Luna cry on his
shoulder as Rena received such a big celebration for
doing nothing.

- On any professional regrets she has as a performer,
Luna says she let her temper get the best of her and
started to believe she was the character she played.
Luna wishes she would acted differently when the
cameras weren't rolling.

- Luna has a book coming out, but she is waiting for
some people to die before deciding on when to release
the book. Luna says the book will be, "ragged, but
real" as a reflection of her personality.

- Luna says she is the craziest woman to ever step
foot in the wrestling ring is now part of a Christian
wrestling ministry doing wrestling shows along with
Shawn Michaels, Ted DiBiase, and Superstar Billy
Graham. Luna says she's also going to prisons to talk
to people about turning to Christ and she is very
excited to be involved in that ministry.
