Big Chad from DC coming atcha and everyone on WrestlingFigs.com with another Big Chad exclusive signing report! Ok, maybe that's over the top, but after the great signing yesterday, you can't really blame me.
WWE Diva Maria was set to appear yesterday at the Washington Auto Show at the Washington Convention Center. I usually attend the Auto Show and I can honestly say I have never had a bad experience. Maria was slated for 6 pm, so I arrived around 10:30 am with three.... yes THREE hours of sleep from the night before. I was extremely excited, not just for Maria, but as I said I always look forward to the car show, so I made the trek. Anyway, I was there around 10:30 and found myself number 5 in line with a few others. The line didn't really get kicking and adding more people until maybe 2 or 3 pm. Normally I'm able to give estimates on the number, but honestly, Georgie I was so tired that I didn't really pay attention. Judging by the pix on the autoshow site, I'd guess around 100. Maria showed up with security at 6:15, which I actually guessed prior. (you go to these long enough you could place bets on how late they are going to show up). Maria looked absolutely gorgeous. She waved and blew kisses to everyone in the crowd and the photo takers behind the rail in front of the stage.
First thing she did was sit down on the autograph stage and sign and pose for photos with a few handicapped kids. She really took her time and gave them 100 percent of her attention, which is great to see. A few minutes later, she then came back up to the table on the stage to sign for us. Now, security had said "One autograph and One photo. And do not touch her unless she touches you first". I understand the no touching rule. I was brought up to be a gentleman, always. But One autograph? In the words of a 2009 Hall Of Fame inductee "EH-EH. That don't sit right with ol' Big Chad!" I bought two pix, one for me and my buddy Andrew aka The BigKing who couldn't make it, and my program. I had my photos stuffed in my program so they thought I was only getting my program signed. I was the none the wiser.
I finally got my turn to meet Maria. I asked her to make one photo out to me and for my friend Andrew and she did. She also signed my program as well. She said to me "I understand, don't let them hassle you. I know how it is from back in the day when I would try to get autographs." I responded "I won't tell if you don't tell" and we laughed. She also commented on my Bears hat asking me if I was from Chicago, which I said no. We had our picture taken with my pink camera, to which she said "Is that your pink camera?" I responded "Yep! It takes a real man to carry around a pink camera." She laughed and said "true" and shaked my hand and I left for the Redskins Cheerleaders line.
Maria is a real sweet person who takes her time out for all her fans. I highly suggest all the WWE Universe to meet her if you have the chance. She is one of the best and she loves her fans!
