The ECW Heavyweight Champion...is Matt Hardy!

Sunday, September 7th, 2008 is a day I will never forget. The WWE's annual Unforgiven pay-per-view took place in Cleveland, Ohio. I became the ECW Heavyweight Champion by winning the first ever Championship Scramble match in the history of the WWE-actually, in the entire history of the professional wrestling business. As I type this, I am current one of the top three professional wrestling heavyweight titleholders and I represent ECW as it's champion. It's a huge deal and a major accomplishment to find yourself in this position. It is a dream come true for me as I am a lifelong WWE fan who truly defied the odds to get here. I've sacrificed so much to achieve this goal-but that's what success in life is all about.

First and foremost, I want to thank all of the people who have always supported and believed in Matt Hardy. You know who you are. Your encouragement and faith in me as a person and a performer always kept me working hard. Likewise, I also want to thank all of the people who didn't believe in me, and thought I've never be successful as a singles wrestler. Your doubts and negativity made me work extra hard to prove you wrong and make you eat your words. I've always felt one of my greatest traits is being able to feed off positive and negative energy and situations, and then use them for inspirational motivation. If you played a role in driving and motivating me to get to where I am today, THANK YOU.

Winning the ECW Title was an extremely tough task, retaining the ECW Title will be even tougher. The ECW Era of Mattitude begins tonight, September 9th, 2008, at 10 p.m. on Sci-Fi. Make sure to tune in weekly, I'm gonna leave my heart and soul in that ring every night. It is my responsibility to set the example and make ECW's brand the best it can be. Triple H, Chris Jericho-I'm gonna do my damnedest to prove I'm the best World Heavyweight Champ in the business. Hang on tight guys and gals, it's gonna be a wild ride...
