National Wrestling Superstars made its long-awaited return to Carteret, NJ on Friday night April 11th, and the area wrestling fans were certainly ready for them, as a crowd estimated at 200-225 packed Carteret's Holy Family Parish Hall.

Its not often, especially in the state of New Jersey when one legitimate wrestling promotion helps out another but on Friday night, Gino Caruso's ECPW stepped up the plate big time with helping out the NWS buy allowing his main event talent leave before intermission and get to the NWS event 40 minutes away to make sure the fans and sponsors of the building were not disappointed. NWS management thanks ECPW management and hopes this will open up further good will between the two companies.

Before the show, NWS management announced that WWE RAW star Eugene, scheduled to wrestle ECW original "Dastardly" Danny Doring in the main event, was having travel difficulties (it was unclear as to whether his ticket was on American Airlines or not), and they hoped he would arrive in NJ in time for his match.

NWS Jersey Shore Champion Nicky Oceans, accompanied by Danny Doring & Corey Havoc, came to the ring for his scheduled title defense, but announced that there was no one listed as his opponent, and therefore was issuing an open challenge to anyone in the building. After looking around the audience (and insulting them), Oceans and his entourage spotted NWS Ring Crew member and wrestler-in-training "Jumping" Joey Janela, and challenged him to wrestle Oceans for the title. Janela, depite being cautioned by NWS Commissioner Gino Moore, accepted the challenge, which led to...

Nicky Oceans (w/ Danny Doring & Corey Havoc) retained the NWS Jersey Shore Title against "Jumping" Joey Janela. Janela put up a brave fight, but his inexperience combined with the presence of Doring and Havoc on the outside were just too much for the youngster, as Oceans finished Janela off with a superkick and a 1-2-3 pin to retain the title.

J.T. Highlander & Chris Steeler defeated NWS Cruiserweight Champion J.D. Smoothie & Dan Rageous. Smoothie and Rageous, having battled over the Cruiserweight Title, had trouble getting along from the start, and Rageous receiving and enjoying the accolades from his Carteret home town crowd only served to further annoy his partner. After a pitched battle by all four men, Steeler threw Rageous into Smoothie and then hit a Booker-T-style scissors kick on Rageous and pinned him for the victory. An outraged Smoothie attacked Rageous until Security separated them. Smoothie demanded a one-on-one match with Rageous, and Commissioner Moore said he would schedule it for a later date.

Alere Little Feather defeated Roxie Cotton. The Carteret fans were treated to a battle of two premiere women wrestlers on the indy circuit, as the two women battled back and forth before Alere slapped on an Indian Death Lock submission hold and Roxie wasted no time in tapping out.

Vicious Vin retained the NWS New Jersey Heavyweight Title against Corey Havoc (w/ Danny Doring). Carteret was the latest site of the ongoing rivalry between Vin and Havoc, and this match was no different than their previous encounters, as the two big men tore into each other. But the champion outlasted Havoc's tactics, and Doring's occasional outside interference, and leveled Havoc with a Michinoku Driver before pinning him for the victory. There was no victory celebration, as Doring, Havoc, and Nicky Oceans attacked the champion after the match and laid him out in the ring. NWS Commissioner Gino Moore came to ringside & threatened fines & suspensions to the attackers. Danny Doring got on the microphone and confessed that he had called Eugene's agent and told him the show was the following night, laughingly saying *he* was the one responsible for Eugene not showing up. Commissioner Moore informed Doring that he would have the last laugh, because a substitute surprise opponent was on his way to Carteret at that moment.

The Masked Luchadors (Antonio Malave & Golden Lynx) defeated Rob Eckos & Mighty Mikey Pacifica. Eckos vowed to unmask the Luchadors before the night was out, and the four high-flying wrestlers put on a fast-moving match. In the end, Eckos was actually able to remove Malave's mask, but Malave covered his face with his shirt and ran to the back, with Eckos in hot pursuit. This left Mikey to fall victim to a Somersault Splash from Golden Lynx who pinned him for the victory.

"Dastardly" Danny Doring came out for his main event match, and claimed that Commissioner Moore had no opponent for him after all. Commissioner Moore then introduced...

Former WWE star Scotty Too Hotty defeated "Dastardly" Danny Doring. Both the crowd and Doring went insane (in different ways of course) when Scotty was introduced. The two combatants started off with wrestling holds, but quickly turned the match into a brawl inside & outside the ring. Scotty eventually laid out Doring, and started hopping on one foot as the Carteret fans chanted "W" "O" "R" "M", and Scotty obliged with The Worm on Doring, followed by a pinfall, sending the fans home happy.

NWS returns to action on Saturday April 12th at the Assumption School Gym in Atco, NJ, then on Saturday April 19th at Kearny, NJ's Presbyterian Boys & Girls Club, and on Saturday night April 26th NWS returns to its perennial favorite central Jersey venue, the Manville, NJ VFW Hall, for the 2008 Chris Candido Memorial Jersey J-Cup Tournament.
