Netflix is reportedly closing in on a deal for the rights to stream a new documentary on the tenacious legal battle between Hulk Hogan and the gossip web site Gawker.
The online service outbid four other outlets and is likely to score a deal for the movie “Nobody Speak: Hulk Hogan, Gawker and Trials of a Free Press,” according to Deadline.com.
The film, which premieres at the Sundance on Tuesday, chronicles the saga of a sex tape that led to a consequential battle over privacy and First Amendment rights.
A Florida jury ruled in favor of Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, and awarded him $140 million in damages. Gawker eventually settled for $31 million.
After the jury verdict it was revealed that Silicon Valley billionaire Peter Thiel, a frequent target of Gawker, had financed the lawsuit.
