CLASSIC AWA AUGUST TV REPORTS

Hi Georgie,
Over and over, I thank you for your site and the information and enjoyment it brings to others.
I started taking notice of your posts of Classic AWA reports and thinking, "I wish I could see some of those matches." Well a light went on in my brain and I checked and I do get classic ESPN with the AWA on here at 11:00 p.m. Illinois time. So we have been dvr-ing the episodes.
I personally watched the AWA from the 60's to it's end in the fall of 1990. I am remembering much of the ESPN shows and am surprised of the things / people who I do and don't recall. The dunk tank at the Minnesota bar was hilarious. I believe that was 1988 and one of announcer Larry Nelson's last shows. Then 89' 90' and Bischoff took over. While it was slicker and he is smooth and very competent, the matches were a lot of re-hashes and the lack of exciting talent is noticed.
It seems that last night ,they started over again at 1985. They had the best midget match I have ever seen. Lord Littlebrook and Little Tokyo VS. 2 other little people. Any size wrestler could have learned a ton watching that match. The main event was C Rick Martell V. Stan Hansen. That was a four star match.
What made me write was the wrestler "The Illustrious One" Jonnie Stewart. after seeing him over the last few weeks, I don't remember him. But he reminded me so much of  Brian Knobs that he haunted me, his face and blonde hair,(although thinner) and his tone and gestures. so I googled him and he is a different person. But he has a site and an interesting life. How weird. None of the pictures on the site back up the resemblance thing though from when he was the Spoiled Rotten One. Also, I guess he is the vice-pres of the latest AWA.
