It’s once again that time of year when New Japan puts on its annual round-robin tournament The G1 Climax! This 29th edition of the tournament kicks off for the first time on U.S. soil and will be live from Dallas, Texas. Broken up into two blocks – A and B – in each block consists of ten men. In each block, ten competitors will wrestle someone new from their block throughout the length of the tournament. One point is earned for each win. The wrestler with the most points after facing off against everyone in their own block will take on the winner of the other block. A Block vs. B Block. The winner of that match goes on and faces the IWGP Heavyweight Champion at Wrestle Kingdom next year.

To put it into perspective, night one begins on July 6 in Dallas and concludes August 11 in Japan. No one said victory was easy. This will test endurance, adaptability, and most importantly, heart. With competitors like Jon Moxley to Hiroshi Tanahashi to Will Ospreay and to Jay White, this year’s G1 is shaping up to be the toughest yet.

Night 1 in Dallas will focus mainly on A Block match ups. The main card looks like this:

Kazuchika Okada vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi
Kota Ibushi vs. KENTA
Will Ospreay vs. Lance Archer
EVIL vs. Bad Luck Fale
SANADA vs. Zack Sabre Jr.

In addition to that, the undercard will feature several tag matches featuring members from Los Ingoberables de Japon, Bullet Club, and CHAOS
