Judah Friedlander from NBC's show "30 Rock" appeared on "Elliot In The Morning" show on DC 101fm out of Washington, DC Thursday morning to plug a local comedy performance he was doing in the area. Over the course of the interview he also gave details of his upcoming movie, the Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream) directed "The Wrestler". Judah mentioned how he was always a huge fan old school wrestling and the original ECW. He talked about how "The Wrestler" was inspired by Jake "The Snake" Roberts appearance in "Beyond the Mat". He said in preparation for his role he consulted former ECW/WWE personality The Blue Meanie, Brian Heffron. He said even though the movie may initially be perceived as a comedy it is very dark and is shot in documentary form to give it a more real effect. Wrestling-Radio.com had the pleasure of sitting down with Nicky Nemeth for an exclusive interview. Nicky is a former member of WWE's Spirit Squad and now currently in Florida Championship Wrestling. http://www.wrestling-radio.com/index.php?view=getiview&hline=34 Some Highlights:
On His time in WWE and Spirit Squad: It was a dream to live, working with the high talent like Michaels and McMahon it was great, i enjoyed working with Shawn because he is such agreat performer and to perform with a guy who is a legend, it was great and a dream come true.
On WWE Creative: Theres two sides to this. One may say that teh Spirit Squad could go on, but the other may say it was time to release them. After the Mcmahon feud, DX feud and everything, WWE had nothing for us really. It was a shame because i proposed something to the wwe and it was a shame they didn't capitalize on it. submitting ideas to creative, you can do that, its no problem, just submit the email or talk with them, whether or not they use it, its up to them, it doesn't really matter if you are a high card wrestler, low, mid card, it just depends on how good the plan is, if its greet, they will use it, if not, then they wont, i don't see a favoritism whether its HHH that submits it or a guy like Funaki. It can go either way.
On The McMahon's: Vince is such a great guy. On and Off screen. I didn't get to spend much with the Other McMahon's, but I did with Vince. Vince is a great guy and I wish him luck in the future in whatever he does.
On Kenny Dykstra: He is currently on the smackdown brand. I speak to him on occasions, my thoughts is that they dont capitalize on good talent. Kenny is great talent and they basically just ruined him by making him job.Not that i am not upset, just i am little upset on how they use talent. But im sure kenny and I will tag again in the near future.
On WWE's ECW: Yeah i believe that ECW is basically the televised developmental ground. Its a chance for guys coming from FSW to get on TV, and get used to getting shown on TV and then once they master that then be moved to Raw or Smackdown. I can see future stars, guys like CM Punk, Kofi Kingston will eventually get moved to Raw, or SD, just because they know how the business works. Guys that head to ecw from raw or smackdown, its a chance for younger talent to begin working with higher talent that they have on ECW righ tnow, with Kane, and Undertaker.
